Chronic hepatitis C in hemodialysis patients:Prevalence and liver fibrosis impact in the National Center for Renal Health in Peru

Acoustical design of an Electrical Emergency Plant Using Sea Method

The statistical energy analysis (SEA) was used in the acoustical design of an electrical emergency plant to reduce the outdoor noise level. In the past, when the plant was working, a high annoying noise was heard all over the university camp. At a first glance the principal ways of noise propagation were the open door of the plant which was used for the suction of fresh air and a vast hole in the ceiling which was used for gases outlet. Also, a spectral analysis of the noise inside the plant showed that the dominant frequencies of the noise were in the range of 120 - 270 Hz. This frequency range is near the critical frequency of the brick walls that is 129 Hz, at which the walls are transparent for noise. A two-block diagram is used for the statistical energy analysis. Two ways of sound transmission are considered through the inlet and outlet holes and through the walls and ceiling. This analysis shows that the exclusion of holes wouldn’t be sufficient to reduce noise to an acceptable level in a low frequency range but increase the noise absorption by the wall coating material. The transmission loss is calculated for different wall coatings and hole areas. A layer of fiberglass of two-inch width is selected to increase the wall absorption coefficient. Special silencers are designed and put at the suction of air and at the outlet of engine gases to reduce the noise propagation through the holes. The noise measurement shows that the noise level is considerably reduced after implementation of these measures. The reduction of noise is 7 - 8 dB (A), 19 dB (A) and 23 dB (A), inside the plant, 10 m and 15 m away from the plant, respectively.

In Arabidopsis thaliana, multiple genes involved in shoot apical meristem （SAM） transitions have been char- acterized, but the mechanisms required for the dynamic attainment of vegetative, inflorescence, and floral meristem （VM, IM, fM） cell fates during SAM transitions are not well understood. Here we show that a MADS-box gene, XAANTAL2 （XAL2/AGL14）, is necessary and sufficient to induce flowering, and its regula- tion is important in fM maintenance and determinacy, xal2 mutants are late flowering, particularly under short-day （SD） condition, while XAL2 overexpressing plants are early flowering, but their flowers have vege- tative traits. Interestingly, inflorescences of the latter plants have higher expression levels of LfY, AP1, and TfL1 than wild-type plants. In addition we found that XAL2 is able to bind the TfL1 regulatory regions. On the other hand, the basipetal carpels of the 35S：：XAL2 lines lose determinacy and maintain high levels of WUS expression under SD condition. To provide a mechanistic explanation for the complex roles of XAL2 in SAM transitions and the apparently paradoxical phenotypes of XAL2 and other MADS-box （SOCl, AGL24） over- expressors, we conducted dynamic gene regulatory network （GRN） and epigenetic landscape modeling. We uncovered a GRN module that underlies VM, IM, and fM gene configurations and transition patterns in wild- type plants as well as loss and gain of function lines characterized here and previously. Our approach thus provides a novel mechanistic framework for understanding the complex basis of SAM development.

Loss of follow-up or reinfections hinder the expectations of hepatitis C eradicationdespite the existence of highly effective treatments. Moreover, the elimination ofthe infection does not imply the reversion of those chronic alterations derivedfrom the previous infection by hepatitis C virus (HCV). This review analyzes therisk factors associated with loss to follow-up in diagnosis or treatment, and thepossibility of reinfection. Likewise, it assesses the residual alterations induced bychronic HCV infection considering the liver alterations (inflammation, fibrosis,risk of decompensation, hepatocellular carcinoma, liver transplantation) and, onthe other hand, the comorbidities and extrahepatic manifestations (cryoglobulinemia,non-Hodgkin lymphoma, peripheral insulin resistance, and lipid, boneand cognitive alterations). Peculiarities present in subjects coinfected with humanimmunodeficiency virus are analyzed in each section.

In-port-plug transmission line design of the ITER plasma position reflectometer

This work describes the microwave design of the transmission line housed in the in-port-plug region of the ITER plasma position reflectometer(PPR).The design of the components of the inport-plug reflectometers(located in equatorial port-plug 10(EPP10) and in upper-port-plug 01(UPP01)) is *** a 3 D ray tracing code, the spatial position and optimum orientation angles of each set of emission and detection antennas were determined.A feasible path was then created from the obtained antenna positions and orientations to the primary vacuum *** tall waveguides were chosen to reduce ohmic *** to space constraints in the ITER crowded environment, bends in oversized waveguides were unavoidable, and thus mode conversion was *** keep mode conversion losses at bay, hyperbolic secant curvature bends had to be used whenever ***, E-plane bends in tall waveguides proved to be especially critical, making it necessary to employ other approaches when higher bending angles were *** conversion results were obtained by evaluating the mode coupling *** losses have also been computed and their results compared with commercial simulators, obtaining a perfect agreement.

Gomphrena serrata L. (Amaranthaceae) is a medicinal plant widely used traditionally in rural areas to treat many diseases, including gastrointestinal helminthiasis of small ruminants. This work aims to estimate the plant extracts phytochemical potential and study the activities of the aqueous decoction (GS_AD), aqueous macerate (GS_AM), and hydroalcoholic macerate (GS_HEM) of Gomphrena serrata extracts on two developmental stages (eggs and adult worms) of Haemonchus contortus. Phytochemical screening was carried out. The acute toxicity test was performed according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and development (OECD) test guideline 423. The Haemonchus contortus eggs hatching inhibition test was performed left to incubate for 48 hours in the presence of the different plant extracts at increasing concentrations of 0.125;0.25;0.5;0.625;1;2;3 mg/mL. for the motility inhibition test on adult worms, the worms were contacted with the extracts at concentrations of 0.75;1;1.25;1.5;2;3;4 mg/mL and left to incubate for 24 hours. Albendazole and levamisole were used as standard. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of tannins, saponins, reducing compounds, coumarins and derivatives, anthocyanins, steroids, triterpenes, and flavonoids. An acute toxicity study showed that the oral LD50 value of G. serrata was estimated to be 5000 mg/kg. All extracts showed an effect on both stages of parasite development. The hatching inhibition rate was 100% from 3 mg/mL for all three extracts. The rate of inhibition of motility was 100% from 4 mg/mL for each extract. HEM is more efficient on eggs and Haemonchus contortus adult worms than other extracts with IC50 of 0.457 mg/mL and LC50 of 1.329 mg/mL, respectively. These results suggest that Gomphrena serrata, a plant used by farmers, has anthelmintic properties.

[目的]研究雅鲁藏布江流域土壤侵蚀时空变化特征,并分析气候和植被覆盖变化对土壤侵蚀的影响,以期为高寒区土壤侵蚀防治、生态系统保护和水土资源开发利用提供理论支撑。[方法]以雅鲁藏布江流域为研究区,采用RUSLE模型定量评估了1980—2017年流域土壤侵蚀的时空变化特征。[结果]1980—2017年,雅江流域土壤侵蚀强度整体呈现先减小后增加的趋势,1980—1999年年均土壤侵蚀模数波动下降,2000—2017年年均土壤侵蚀模数则呈现不显著上升趋势;流域中上游地区土壤侵蚀变化较为显著,下游地区侵蚀强度先增加后减小。年均土壤侵蚀模数与降雨侵蚀力呈显著正相关关系,Pearson相关系数为0.92,而与NDVI关系不显著。不同土地利用类型中,土壤侵蚀最强烈的是未利用地,其次是稀疏草地,由于其面积占比最高,对流域总侵蚀量的贡献比超过54%。[结论]降雨是影响雅江流域土壤侵蚀强度变化的主要因素,未来土壤侵蚀防治的重点区域应为流域东部下游降雨量较大的地区,重点防范极端降雨造成的水土流失。
