This paper describes the effect of the composition of the oxide films on the properties of electrodes Ti/Msub>xsub>Tisub>ysub>snsub>zsub>Osub>2sub> (M = Ir or Ru) prepared by the polymeric precursor method. XRD studies showed that the anodes are formed by solid solutions. The electrodes containing IrOsub>2sub> exhibit lower activity for the oxygen evolution reaction. The doping of the electrode surface with snOsub>2sub> improves the catalytic properties of the anodes. However, it should be held in appropriate compositions, because the change in the atomic ratio of this element shows a marked effect on the stability of the oxides. Electrode Ti/Irsub>0.2sub>Tisub>0.3sub>snsub>0.5sub>Osub>2sub> has lower lifetime, i.e. 6 hours. The 20% decrease in the stoichiometric amount of snOsub>2sub> increases the time to a value above 70 hours, as observed for Ti/Irsub>0.3sub>Tisub>0.4sub>snsub>0.3sub>Osub>2sub>. Electrode Ti/Rusub>0.3sub>Tisub>0.4sub>snsub>0.3sub>Osub>2sub> shows lifetime of 11 hours;therefore IrOsub>2sub> is more stable than RuOsub>2sub> under the conditions investigated. These results suggest that electrode Ti/Irsub>0.3sub>Tisub>0.4sub>snsub>0.3sub>Osub>2sub> is promising for different applications, such as water electrolysis, capacitors and organic electrosynthesis.

The effect of an erbium-doped fiber amplifier （EDFA） placed inside the fiber ring of a cavity ring down （CRD） configuration is studied. The limitations and advantages of this configuration are discussed, and the study of the ring-down time as a function of the current applied and gain to the EDFA is also presented. In this case, the power fluctuations in the output signal are strongly dependent on the cavity ring-down time with the EDFA gain.

The objective of this work is to understand how the process of co-creation occurs within the creative industry of video games. For this, concepts of the creative industry, co-creation, information and communication technologies (ICTs) and innovation were studied. since this is an exploratory and qualitative research, a single case study was chosen as a method. The analysis was done in a Brazilian company that develops games for mobile devices. The results show that the consumer (gamer) participates in value creation in the company’s products, mainly in the initial production stages. In the later phases, after the launch and other steps of the life cycle, although there is a relationship with the users, the joint creation of value is little explored by the organization. Also, it was verified that the co-creation process is supported by different information and communication tools, which provide agility to the process.

Dear editor,It is with great interest that we read the article“Relationship of calcitonin gene-related peptide with disease progression and prognosis of patients with severe traumatic brain injury”(Chen et al.,2018).In this study,the authors evaluated 121 patients who were divided into mild/moderate traumatic brain injury(TBI)(n=61),severe TBI(n=35)and control(n=25)groups,and measured serum levels of calcitonin gene-related peptide(CGRP)and serum endothelin-1(ET-1).They found that low levels of CGRP and high levels of ET-1 were associated with high mortality at 6 *** of morphological abnormalities on CT scans is very important for evaluating patients with TBI because different diagnoses are made based on different imaging findings(Maas et al.,2005).

For building a biosensor, at least two enzyme sources can be employed. The pure enzyme has features with better selectivity and low stability. Crude extract presents better stability and wrong selectivity. Thus, one intermediate condition can be feasible joining both benefits of crude extract and pure enzymes. For that result, several procedures of extraction and semi purification of polyphenol oxidase (PPO) enzyme from banana (Musa sp.) were studied. The results showed that cleaned enzymatic extracts presented higher specific activities than crude extracts (2.8 up to 5.3 fold), despite the total protein concentration diminishing from 27% up to 72%, indicating that polyphenol oxidase (PPO) enzyme was preserved in them. The biosensors with 125 AU mL-1 containing cleaned enzymatic extracts performed better by grinding or grinding plus sonication for 30 s. They were linear over the ranges of 5.9 × 10-6 mol·L-1 to 1.4 × 10-3 mol·L-1 and 7.9 × 10-8 mol·L-1 to 4.0 × 10-3 mol·L-1, respectively. The limit of Detection (LOD) was 5.9 × 10-6 mol·L-1 and 7.9 × 10-8 mol·L-1, respectively. The LOD obtained is adequate to adrenaline determination on blood and medicinal samples, and were applied in medicinal samples with satisfactory results.

The Treatment of Partial-Thickness Burns with a Hydroconductive Wound Dressing: Clinical and Mechanistic Effects

Objectives: Edema in partial-thickness burn wounds can decrease tissue perfusion, increase tissue ischemia, and deepen the burn injury. We report the results of a clinical trial comparing the effectiveness of a hydro-conductive dressing to our standard burn dressing at removing edema fluid from partial-thickness burns and present the proposed mechanisms of action of the hydroconductive dressing. Methods: An internally controlled comparison of two wound dressings was performed on 10 patients with non-contiguous partial-thickness burns. Each patient served as his/her own control. One burn was treated with our standard burn dressing and the other with hydroconductive dressing. Dressings were weighed prior to application, removed at 24 and 48 hours, weighed, and new pre-weighed dressings applied. Weight gain of each dressing at 24 and 48 hours was determined. statistics were applied using the student’s paired T-test. The VAs pain scale was measured prior to, during, and after each dressing change. Results: At 24 hours, the hydroconductive dressing had increased 85.6% ± 29.3% in weight compared with 61.3% ± 32.7% for the control (P = 0.053). For the second 24 hour period, the respective numbers were statistically significantly different at 59.7% ± 23.4% vs. 34.2% ± 19.1% (P = 0.038). Averaging the weight gain over the two dressing periods demonstrated that the differences were highly statistically significant as the hydroconductive dressing increased in weight by 71.0% ± 20.3% compared with 44.5% ± 17.4% for the gauze dressing (P = 0.005). VAs scores revealed no statistical differences. Mechanisms of action included capillary, hydroconductive, and electrostatic actions. Conclusions: A hydroconductive dressing designed to draw off excessive wound fluid removes more wound edema fluid than standard burn gauze dressings.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the physical, chemical and microbiological quality of the water of the Aroeira River in the city of silo Mateus, northern region of Espirito santo state, Brazil, from April 2012 to March 2013, for use in irrigation of vegetable crops. Five points were selected along the river for analysis of pH, chloride （mg/L C1-）, total hardness （mg/L CaCO3）, dissolved oxygen （mg/L O2）, ammoniacal nitrogen （mg/L N-NH3）, total iron （mg/L Fe）, phosphate/orthophosphate （mg/L PO43-）, turbidity （NTU）, acidity （mg/L CO2）, temperature （℃）, electrical conductivity （ds/m）, as well as microbiological and parasitological analyses. Only point l, located upstream of the points of domestic sewage discharges, is the closest to be considered suitable for use in irrigation of vegetable crop, demonstrating the possible risks to the health of populations who use water with sewage discharges in urban communities for irrigation of vegetable crops.
