Management of proximal tibial stress fracture associated with advanced knee osteoarthritis:A systematic review

Purpose:Tibial stress fracture associated with knee osteoarthritis is an unusual and difficult clinical *** is no clear existing treatment guideline for this uncommon clinical *** aim of this study is to review the impact of various treatment options for patients with advanced knee osteoarthritis associated with proximal tibial stress ***:The study was performed using the databases of PubMed and *** index for non-randomized studies score was used to evaluate the included studies’*** concluded data included the treatment approach,reported outcome measure,and time to fracture *** literature search was started in December 2021 and accomplished in January 2022.A narrative description of the different methods and comparison of their results were ***:Out of total assessed 69 studies,9 studies were included in our *** commonest treatment approach used was total knee arthroplasty by long tibial stem *** mean preoperative knee society score and knee functional score were 30.62 and 23.17,*** mean postoperative knee society knee score was 86.87,while the functional score was *** average reported time to achieve fracture union was 4 months(a range of 2.07-5.50 months).Conclusion:The optimal clinical outcome for treating either acute or mobile tibial stress fracture in patients with advanced knee osteoarthritis can be achieved with long stem total knee ***,due to heterogeneity of data,comparison of different treatment options for chronic proximal tibial stress fracture mal-union/non-union coexisting with knee osteoarthritic and such inferences need to be judged cautiously.

One Step Synthesis and Growth Mechanism of Carbon Nanotubes

A simple one step, reproducible, synthesis route for carbon nanotubes was proposed. No external catalyst was used for the synthesis. These nanotubes were obtained after decomposition of acetone at 650 ℃ in a specially designed autoclave. The pressure generated due to decomposition of acetone played a vital role in the synthesis. The X-ray diffraction pattern and transmission electron microscopy of the sample showed that the diameter of nanotubes is in the range of 3-14 nm. The thermo gravimetric analysis showed 3% weight loss below 500 ℃; the content of amorphous carbon is very less. The growth mechanism of CNTs was also proposed in the present paper.

Synthesis of the 3D porous carbon-manganese oxide (3D-C@MnO) nanocomposite and its supercapacitor behavior study

A 3D porous carbon-manganese oxide（3D-C@MnO） nanocomposite is successfully synthesized via a thermal plasma deposition *** chemical bonds and compositions,phase structures,surface morphologies,*** as-obtained 3D-C@MnO nanocomposite were characterized by the various equipment,such as X-ray diffractometer,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,and electron *** electrochemical performances of the 3D-C@MnO nanocomposite electrode showed a specific capacitance of 780 Fg;at a current density of 2Ag;and a capacitance retention rate of 99% after 5000 charge-discharge cycles at a high current density of 10Ag;.These excellent capacitive performances may be attributed to the encapsulation of MnO nanoparticles by porous carbon sheets in the 3D-C@MnO nanocomposite *** is believed that the carbon-encapsulated MnO nanoparticles can be protected from a volume deformation during the charge adsorption/desorption cycle and can be electrically improved by the encapsulated carbon sheets,resulting in better overall capacitive *** addition,this study also demonstrates the practical applicability by assembling a supercapacitor using the as-obtained 3D-C@MnO nanocomposite to glow a light emitting diode.

Magnesium is an excellent material in terms of biocompatibility and its corrosion products can serve as an active source for new bone ***,localized corrosion and H_(2)generation limit the potential of Mg-based *** low-alloyed Mg-Zn wires can strongly reduce problems with large H_(2)bubbles and improve the mechanical properties considerably while maintaining excellent long-term *** pickling and a polymer coating can be effectively used to lower the rate of in vivo *** this work,microstructural,mechanical,and in vitro characterization of 250μm and 300μm extruded wires made from ultra-pure Mg,commercially pure Mg,Mg-0.15Zn,Mg-0.4Zn and Mg-1Zn was ***,Mg-0.4Zn wires together with a variant coated with a copolymer of L-lactide andε-caprolactone were tested in vivo on artificially damaged Wistar rat *** on the observed Mg-induced osteogenesis,polymer-coated Mg wires with a small addition of Zn are a perspective material for bone-support applications,such as cerclage and fixation wires.

Role of endoscopic ultrasound-guided biliary drainage for palliation of malignant biliary obstruction

Endoscopic ultrasound-guided biliary drainage(EUS-BD)directs bile flow into the digestive tract and has been mostly used in patients with malignant biliary obstruction(MBO)where endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography-guided biliary drainage was unsuccessful or was not *** apposing metal stents(LAMS)are deployed during EUS-BD,with the newer electrocautery-enhanced LAMS reducing procedure time and complication rates due to the inbuilt cautery at the catheter ***-BD with electrocautery-enhanced LAMS has high technical and clinical success rates for palliation of MBO,with bleeding,cholangitis,and stent occlusion being the most common adverse *** studies have even suggested comparable efficacy between EUS-BD and endosc-opic retrograde cholangiopancreatography as the primary approach for distal *** this editorial,we commented on the article by Peng et al published in the recent issue of the World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery in 2024.

Impact of Particle Crush-Size and Weight on Rock-Eval S2,S4,and kinetics of Shales

The Rock-Eval technique in the last few decades has found extensive application for source rock *** impact of shale particle crush-size and sample weight on key Rock-Eval measurements,*** S;curve(heavier hydrocarbons released during the non-isothermal pyrolysis-stage)and the S;curve(CO_(2)released from oxidation of organic matter during the oxidation-stage)are investigated in this *** high and low total organic carbon(TOC)samples of different thermal maturity levels,it is apparent that particle crush-size has a strong influence on the results obtained from RockEval analysis,with the effect being stronger in high-TOC *** comparison to the coarser-splits,S;and pyrolyzable carbon(PC)were found to be higher for the finer crush sizes in all the shales *** S_(2)CO_(2)oxidation curve shapes of Permian shales show contrasting signatures in comparison to the Paleocene-aged lignitic shale,both from Indian basins.A reduced TOC was observed with rising sample weight for a mature Permian shale from the Jharia basin,while the other shales sampled showed no significant *** results indicate that the S_(2)CO_(2)curve and the S_(2)T_(2),are strongly dependent on the type of organic-matter present and its level of thermal *** weight and particle size both influence the S;-curve shapes at different heating *** increasing sample weights,an increase in S;-curve magnitude was observed for the shales of diverse *** differences in the S;curve shape lead to substantially different kinetic distributions being fitted to these *** findings are considered to have significant implications for the accuracy of reaction kinetics obtained from pyrolysis experiments using different sample characteristics.

Comprehensive review on ethnomedicinal, phytochemistry and pharmacological profile of Ficus Religiosa L.

Ficus religiosa L.(F. religiosa) or sacred fig is a large perennial tree belonging to the family Moraceae or mulberry family. Though the tree has pan-tropical distribution but originally it is indigenous to the Indian subcontinent and Indochina region. Popularly the tree is named "Pepal or bodhi tree". Traditionally, it is practiced for the treatment of asthma, nose bleeding, heart disorders, diabetes, wound healing, ear problems, constipation, hyperlipidemia, gonorrhea, ulcers and infectious disorders. Chemical analysis demonstrated the presence of numerous bioactives including tannins, phenols, saponins, sugars, alkaloids, methionine, terpenoids, flavonoids, glycosides, proteins, separated amino acids, essential and volatile oils and steroids etc., which are probably responsible for its diverse pharmacological actions. The present work is an attempt to compile up-to-date comprehensive information on F. religiosa that covers its taxonomy, ethnomedicinal importance, phytochemistry, pharmacological attributes and clinical trials. keeping in mind the various health attributes of F. religiosa, future research can be aimed at in-depth elucidation of the structure-function relationship and multifactorial signalings pathways.
