Influence of birth order, birth weight, colostrum and serum immunoglobulin G on neonatal piglet survival

Background： Intake of colostrum after birth is essential to stimulate intestinal growth and function, and to provide systemic immunological protection via absorption of Immunoglobulin G （IgG）. The birth order and weight of 745 piglets （from 75 litters） were recorded during a one-week period of farrowing. Only pigs weighing greater than 0.68 kg birth weight were chosen for the trial. Sow colostrum was collected during parturition, and piglets were bled between 48 and 72 hours post-birth. Piglet serum IgG and colostral IgG concentrations were determined by radial immunodiffusion. Results： Sow parity had a significant （P 〈 0.001） effect on sow colostral IgG concentration, being 5% higher in multiparous females. Sow colostral IgG concentration explained 6% and piglet birth order accounted for another 4% of the variation observed in piglet serum IgG concentration （P 〈 0.05）; however, birth weight had no detectable effect. Piglet serum IgG concentration had both a linear （P 〈 0.05） and quadratic effect （P 〈 0.05） on % survival. Piglets with 1,000 mg/dl serum IgG or less （n=24） had a 67% survival; whereas, piglets with IgG concentrations between 2250 to 2500 mg/dl （n=247） had a 91% survival. Birth order had no detectable effect on survival, but birth weight had a positive linear effect （P 〈 0.05）. Piglets weighing 0.9 kg （n = 107） at birth had a 68% survival rate, and those weighing 1.6 kg （n = 158） had an 89% survival. Conclusion： We found that the combination of sow colostrum IgG concentration and birth order can account for 10% of the variation of piglet serum IgG concentration and that piglets with less than 1,000 mg/dl IgG serum concentration and weight of 0.9 kg at birth had low survival rate when compared to their larger siblings. The effective management of colostrum uptake in neonatal piglets in the first 24 hrs post-birth may potentially improve survival from birth to weaning.

Background： Creep feeding is used to stimulate piglet post-weaning feed consumption.L-Glutamine（GLN） is an important source of fuel for intestinal epithelial *** objective of this study was to determine the impact of creep feeding and adding GLN or AminoGut（AG;containing glutamine ＋ glutamate） to pre-and post-weaning diets on pig performance and intestinal ***（N = 120） were allotted to four treatments during 14–21 d of lactation： 1） No creep feed（NC,n = 45）;2） creep fed control diet（CFCD,n = 45）;3） creep fed 1% GLN（CFGLN,n = 15）;4） creep fed.88% AG（CFAG,n = 15）.After weaning,the NC and CFCD groups were sub-divided into three groups（n = 15 each）,receiving either a control nursery diet（NC-CD,CFCD-CD） or a diet supplemented with either GLN（NC-GLN,CFCD-GLN） or with AG（NC-AG,CFCD-AG）.Litters that were creep fed with diets containing GLN or AG also were supplemented with those amino acids in the nursery diets（CFGLN-GLN,CFAG-AG）.Glutamine was added at 1% in all three post-weaning diet phases and AG was added at.88% in phase 1 and 2 and at.66% in phase ***： Feed conversion（feed/gain） showed means among treatment means close to significance（P = 0.056） and Tukey＇s test for pairwise mean comparisons showed that Pigs in the CFGLN-GLN group had the best feed conversion（feed/gain） in the first three-week period post-weaning,exceeding（P = 0.044） controls（CFCD-CD） by 34%.The NC-AG group had（P = 0.02） the greatest feed intake in the last three week of the study,exceeding controls（CFCD-CD） by 12%.CFGLN-GLN,CFCD-GLN and sow reared（SR） pigs had the greatest（P = 0.049） villi height exceeding the CFCD-AG group by 18%,20% and 19% *** CFAG-AG group had the deepest（P = 0.001） crypts among all ***-GLN,CFCD-GLN and SR groups had the greatest（P = 0.001） number of cells proliferating（PCNA） exceeding those in the NC-CD group by 43%,54% and 63% *** reared pigs showed the greatest（P = 0.001） intestinal absorption capacity for xylose and

目的探讨基因重组和尿卵泡刺激素在体外受精(IVF)和卵胞浆内单精子注射(ICSI)的妊娠结局。方法在促性腺激素释放激素激动剂(GnRHa)长或短方案下,分别应用尿卵泡刺激素(uFSH)、高纯度尿卵泡刺激素(hpFSH)和基因重组卵泡刺激素(rFSH)促排卵,回顾性分析1049例实施IVF和ICSI的治疗周期。结果无论在GnRHa长或短方案中,uFSH组和hpFSH组ICSI的受精率较IVF显著降低(P<0.0001),但在rFSH组两者无明显差异;而且各组之间IVF和ICSI的种植率或妊娠率亦无统计学差异。结论在IVF和ICSI周期治疗中,uFSH、hpFSH与rFSH具有等同的胚胎种植率和临床妊娠率。

目的评估基因重组和尿卵泡刺激素对不孕妇女卵巢的刺激反应和体外受精(IVF)或卵胞浆内单精子注射(ICSI)的妊娠结局。方法对1049例实施IVF或ICSI的不孕患者作回顾性分析,在2种促性腺激素释放激素激动剂(GnRHa)方案下,分别给予尿卵泡刺激素(uFSH)、高纯度尿卵泡刺激素(hpFSH)和基因重组卵泡刺激素(rFSH)促排卵,比较3组雌二醇(E2)峰值水平、FSH剂量、成熟卵母细胞数、受精率和妊娠率。结果在中度和高度卵巢反应者(GnRHa长方案)、hpFSH组和rFSH组出现较高的E2峰值和绒毛膜促性腺素的注射延迟,其中rFSH组的胚胎种植率和持续妊娠率最高;在低弱卵巢反应者(GnRHa短方案)、hpFSH组和rFSH组的E2峰值显著增高,其周期取消率也明显减低,但各组之间种植率或妊娠率无明显差异。结论本研究说明,在卵巢的反应性和IVF/IC-SI妊娠结局的层面上,基因重组卵泡刺激素较尿卵泡刺激素更显优越性。

This paper addresses the development of a random forest classifier for the muki-class fault diagnosis in spur gearboxes. The vibration signal＇s condition parameters are first extracted by applying the wavelet packet decomposition with multiple mother wavelets, and the coefficients＇ energy content for terminal nodes is used as the input feature for the classification problem. Then, a study through the parameters＇ space to find the best values for the number of trees and the number of random features is performed. In this way, the best set of mother wavelets for the application is identified and the best features are selected through the internal ranking of the random forest classifier. The results show that the proposed method reached 98.68% in classification accuracy, and high efficiency and robustness in the models.

Insect＇s nutrient composition may provide a good source of macro- and micro-nutrients with nutraceutical functions that could help people from semirural areas, such as Ixcaquixtla, located southeast of the Puebla State, Mexico. The aim of this study was to assess macro- and micro-nutrients in Cuetlas （Arsenura armada C.） larvae and inform local people about the nutraceutical benefits that those insects could provide. Cuetlas larvae samples were collected from Jonote tree on August, 2014 to analyze minerals and macro-nutrient of raw larvae according to AOAC （1995） techniques. Results showed that Cuetlas larvae contained 56.93% proteins, 14.76% lipids, 2.95% minerals, 2.13% fiber and 23.23% soluble carbohydrates. Cuetlas larvae have a good amount of proteins, essential macromolecules for human life as well as essential fatty acids that are important sources of fuel for brain cells and in particular for cardiac and skeletal muscle, minerals, not determined individually, which are important for metabolism processes, fiber for digestive processes and soluble carbohydrates as energy source.

This paper,reports the performance of a wastewater treatment scale-pilot plant to treat 2 GPM(Gallons per Minute)discharges with 5,205 mg/L of pollutants expressed in COD(Chemical Oxygen Demand),from“Lomas de la Maestransa”a small community in Morelia City,Michoacan,*** scale-pilot plant is a train with(1)pretreatment with a triturated pump for floating solid,(2)primary treatment with“in line”coagulation,and rapid filtration to retain suspended colloids and dissolved solids higher of 5μm diameter,(3)double advanced oxidation as secondary treatment with ozone and heterogeneous photo catalysis to oxidize volatile solids,and(4)tertiary treatment with activated carbon to retain refractory *** performance was analyzed by a certified laboratory that belongs to Potable Water,Sewage and Sanitation Department from Morelia City *** show that treated water effluent complied with the Mexican Official Standard NOM-001-SEMARNAT-1996 for discharges into national waters,with exception of fecal coliforms,since the raw water contains an average of 64,228,351 MNP/100 mL of fecal coliforms,and in spite that we obtained a 99.998%efficiency,the maximum level allowable 2,000 MPN/100 mL standard,was exceeded by 400 MPN/100 *** this experience,the wastewater treatment plant is equipped with a residual chlorine tank to keep a 1.5 ppm chlorine residual concentration to keep the treated water *** project was possible because we had the support of the Morelia Sanitation Department.

Background:COVID-19 vaccines that trigger a strong secretory antibody response in breast milk may achieve effective passive protection of vulnerable newborns and breastfed infants of immunized *** aim of this work was to investigate the presence of SARS-CoV-2 spike RBD-specific IgA and IgG antibodies in breast milk,5 and 9 weeks after vaccination with 3 doses of the protein subunit vaccine Abdala,compared to those found in breast milk from COVID-19-recovered women,collected at least 40 days after the ***:SARS-CoV-2 spike RBD-specific IgA and IgG antibodies were semi-quantified by indirect ELISA,using a homemade standard generated by pooling twenty breast milk samples with high absorbance values according to preliminary *** validity of the standard curves was proved following the European Medicines Agency *** breast milk samples from 2 unvaccinated women who had not been infected with COVID-19 were included as negative *** neutralizing antibodies was assessed by a SARS-CoV-2 surrogate virus neutralization ***:High levels of anti-RBD IgA antibodies were detected in breast milk samples 9 weeks after vaccination and anti-RBD IgG antibodies rise from the fifth to the ninth *** the post-COVID-19 time that was evaluated,the IgG-type response was notably higher compared to both post-vaccination *** antibody titers were similar in breast milk from vaccinated and COVID-19 recovered ***:This is the first report about the immune response in breast milk after the administration of a COVID-19 protein subunit vaccine,which could provide analogous protection to that conferred by SARS-CoV-2 *** implies a potential passive immunity that breastfed infants receive from their mothers vaccinated with Abdala.
