A kind of novel heat-resistant, high performance engineering thermoplastic phthalazinone poly(aryl ether sulfone ketone) (PPESK) containing a carboxyl group in its side chain was prepared by the nucleophilic displacement reaction of 4-(4-hydroxylphenyl)- 1 (2H)-phthalazinone with di(4-chlorophenyl) sulfone, 4,4'-difluoro-benzophenone and phenolphthalin in sulfolane in the presence of K2CO3.to produce high molecular weight polymers which can be dissolved in some polar solvents such as chloroform and nitrobenzene at room temperature and can be easily cast into flexible, yellowish and transparent films. PPESK is an amorphous polymer having a decomposition temperature above 400degreesC, which indicates that it has high thermal stability. At the same time, the thermal properties of PPESKs with dicyandiamide (DICY) as curing agent indicated that the heat-resistance properties of the PPESKs are improved after curing. The apparent activation energy (A-E) of the cross-linking reaction and the reaction order (n) of PPESK/DICY were found to be 52.2 kJ/mol and ca. 1.0, respectively. Therefore, the cross-linking reaction is approximately a first order reaction.

Biological decomposition of Na_2S_2O_3.into sulfur by a newly isolated facultative thermophilic alkaline desulphuricant strain

A facultative thermophilic alkaline desulphuricant strain named GDJ-3.was isolated from neutral soils,enriched on sulfur synthetic medium,and detected in previous *** and chemotax-onomic analyses and 16s RNA gene sequencing showed that the strain was in good agreement with Alpha proteobacterium sp.(97%) and ochrobactrum sp.(98%).The regenerative processes of the solu-tion containing sulfur compounds(SCS) from the strain through an orthogonal test were investigated to get the optimum regenerative *** results showed that regenerative temperature,air flow,and stirring speed of the agitator were the main three variables influencing the regenerative processes of the *** optimum regenerative efficiency of the SCS from the strain was obtained when tem-perature,air flow,and stirring speed of the agitator were 3.8.2 K,3.0 L/min,and zero r/min,*** this condition,when the cell concentration of the strain was adjusted to 107/mL,the concentra-tions of Na2S2O3.and Na2S in the SCS decreased from 112.68 g/L to 96.88 g/L and from 0.87 g/L to 0.11 g/L in 9.5 ***,XRD spectrum shows that sulfur was formed in the regeneration *** results suggest that the strain has potential application to the regeneration of the industrial so-lution containing sulfur compounds.

The copolymerizations of methyl acrylate （MA） with different N- arylmethacrylamide （N-ArMA） were carried out in benzene solution by free radical initiation. The compositions of the copolymers were deter mined by;H NMR method. The monomer reactivity ratios were calculated by the Fineman-Ross （F-R） method. The reactivity ratios and the activity of various N-ArMA with MA were investigated.

A study on the energy transfer and migration in the molecules of polymeric triplet sensitizers (2) A study on delay fluorescence and polarization spectra

The triplet energy migration of polymers and copolymers of vinyl benzophenone (VBP)and vinyl naphthalene (VN) has been studied by measuring delayed fluorescence and polarizationspectra in glassy dilute solution at 77 K. Strong delayed fluorescence of PVN proves the existenceof triplet energy migration and T-T annihilation in the polymer chain. Efficient intersystem cross-ing of "BP" and efficient energy migration and transfer between chromophores along the polymerchain result in the absence of delayed fluorescence for copolymer P (VN-VBP) studied in this *** order of benzophenone phosphorescence intensity: BP>Co (VBP-St)>PVBP indicates the T-Tannihilation decreasing the phosphorescence of PVBP. Fluorescence and phosphorescence po-larization data of polymers are smaller than that of their model compounds. It is evident that energymigration exists in the polymer chain.

THE EFFECTS OF HINDERED AMINES ON METHYL METHACRYLATE polymerIZATION

The effects of hindered amines, such as TMP, TMPM, TUV-770, on MMA and St homopoly-merization have been studied. It was found that in the MMA polymerization initiated with BPO orAIBN, the presence of TMPM, TUV-770 prolonged the induction period and a little change on Rp wasobserved. However, in the presence of TMP Rp increased slightly. The activation energy of poly-merization and polymerization rate equation were determined.

Electroluminescent properties of three ternary europium complexes with different phenanthroline derivatives

Three ternary Eu(III) complexes with general formula of Eu(DBM)3.N (DBM = dibenzoylmethanate, and LN (N = 1-3.) stand for three different 1,10-phenanthroline derivatives) have been synthesized for vacuum deposition films-based electroluminescent devices. The complex Eu(DBM)3.3.(L3.= 2-phenyl-3.[3.(carbazol-9-yl)propyl]imidazo[4,5-f]1,10-phenan-throline) was designed with an effort to combine the electron-transporting phenanthroline platform and the hole-transporting carbazole group into one molecule expecting to improve both electron and hole transporting properties simultaneously. The results show that the variation of the neutral ligands in Eu(III) mixed ligand complexes is a simple and effective approach to the improvement in the thermal stability, PL and EL properties of materials. A double-layer device with the configuration of ITO/TPD (50 nm)/Eu(DBM)3.3.(50 nm)/Mg0.9Ag0.1 (200 nm)/Ag (100 nm) exhibited Eu(III)-based pure red emission with a maximum brightness of 561 cd/m2 at 16 V, and an onset driving voltage of 8 V. A device with the configuration of ITO/TPD (50 nm)/[Eu(DBM)3.3.(5 nm):BCP (5 nm)]4/BCP (20 nm)/AIQ (10 nm) Mg0.9Ag0.9 (110 nm)/Ag (100 nm) gave high efficient and pure red light emission with a luminance of 1419 cd/m2. The crystallization process of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)/poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)and PEO/poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) blends has been characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared(FTIR) spectra in conjunction with Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC) measurements. Thecrystallinity of PEO varies consistently with PEO content in PEO/PVAc blends and the PEO/PMMAblends containing 50 wt% or less PMMA. For the PEO/PMMA blends containing 60 wt% ormore PMMA, the crystallinity of PEO decreases more than PEO content but develops with crystal-lization time. These results can be explained in terms of difference between the crystallization tem-perature (T_c) and glass transition temperature (T_g) of the blends as a function of content of amorphouscomponent.

Functional monomer (MP)_2PT having tertiary aromatic amino group was systhesized from the reaction of N, N-di (2-hydroxypropyl)-p-toluidine with 2-methyl acryloyl chloride. In the presence of organic peroxide, the radical polymerization of (MP)_2PT in toluene took place. The kinetics of (MP)_2PT polymerization and the ESR spectra of LPO-(MP)2PT-MNP systems were determined respectively.

A novel method was established to investigate the gelation process of polymers. The change of refractive index of a polymer system during gelation was determined in situ in a prismatic cell. It can give reliable information on the whole gelation process. The apparatus and the execution of this technique are illustrated and the error is also discussed.
