AIm.To evaluate the effect of silym.rin on the serum.levels of alanine am.notransferase(ALT),aspartate am.notransferase(AST) and gam.a glutam.l transpeptidase(γGT) in patients with liver diseases. m.THODS A system.tic review with m.ta-analysis of ram.om.zed and controlled clinical trials was perform.d,evaluating the effects of sylim.rin in patients with hepatic diseases,published by January 31,2016. Clinical trials were sought on the basis of The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials in the Cochrane Library,Pub m.d/m.dline,Scopus,Web of Science,Lilacs and Clinical Trials. The trials with adult and elderly patients of both sexes,with Liver Diseases who took oral silym.rin supplem.ntation,as extract or isolated,as well as Silym.rin com.ined with other nutrients,were included. The trials should provide inform.tion about the intervention,such as dosages and detailing of the product used,besides the m.an and standard deviation of serum.levels of ALT,AST and γGT of the baseline and at the end of the *** An am.unt of 10904 publications were identified. From.those,only 17 were included in the system.tic review and 6 in the m.ta-analysis,according to the used selection criteria. In this m.ta-analysis,the results indicated a reduction of 0.26 IU/m.L(95%CI:-0.46-0.07,P = 0.007) at the level of ALT and 0.53 IU/m.L(95%CI:-0.74-0.32,P = 0.000) at the serum.levels of AST after using the silym.rin,both,statistically significant,but with no clinical relevance. There was no significant change in the γGT levels. Subgroup analyzes were also perform.d for the biochem.cal m.rkers in relation to the type of intervention,whether silym.rin isolated or associated with other nutrients and the tim. of intervention(whether ≥ 6 m. or m.). Significant differences were not found. The evaluated studies presented a high degree of heterogeneity and low m.thodological quality in the carried out analysis. Background： The aim.of this study was to estim.te variance com.onents and to identify genom.c regions and pathways associated with resistance to gastrointestinal parasites, particularly Haem.nchus contortus, in a breed of sheep adapted to tropical clim.te. Phenotypes evaluations were perform.d to verify resistance to gastrointestinal parasites, and were divided into two categories： i） farm.phenotypes, assessing body condition score（BCS）, degree of anem.a assessed by the fam.cha chart（FAm., fur score（FS） and feces consistency（FC）; and ii） lab phenotypes,com.rising blood analyses for hem.tocrit（HCT）, white blood cell count（WBC）, red blood cell count（RBC）,hem.globin（HGB）, platelets（PLT） and transform.d（log10） egg per gram.of feces（EPG_（log））. A total of 576 anim.ls were genotyped with the Ovine SNP12k Bead Chip（Illum.na, Inc.）, that contains 12,785 bialleleic SNP m.rkers. The variance com.onents were estim.ted using a single trait m.del by single step genom.c BLUP ***： The overall linkage disequilibrium.LD） m.an between pairs of m.rkers m.asured by r2 was 0.23. The overall LD m.an between m.rkers considering windows up to 10 m. was 0.07. The m.an LD between adjacent SNPs across autosom.s ranged from.0.02 to 0.10. Heritability estim.tes were low for EPG_（log）（0.11）, m.derate for RBC（0.18）, PLT（0.17） HCT（0.20）, HGB（0.16） and WBC（0.22）, and high for FAm.0.35）. A total of 22, 21, 23, 20, 26, 25 and 23 windows for EPG_（log）for FAm. WBC, RBC, PLT, HCT and HGB traits were identified, respectively. BACKGROUNDPercutaneous translum.nal angioplasty and stenting represent an effectivetreatm.nt for hepatic artery stenosis after liver transplantation. In the first yearafter stenting, approxim.tely 22% of patients experience in-stent restenosis,increasing the risk of artery throm.osis and related com.lications, and 50%experience liver failure. Although angiography is an im.ortant tool for diagnosisand the planning of therapeutic interventions, it m.y raise doubts, especially insm.ll-diam.ter arteries, and it provides low resolution rates com.ared withnewer intravascular im.ging m.thods, such as optical coherence tom.graphy(OCT).CASE SUm.ARYA 64-year-old m.le developed hepatic artery stenosis one year after orthotropicliver transplantation and was successfully treated with percutaneous translum.nalangioplasty with stenting. Five m.nths later, the Doppler ultrasound resultsindicated restenosis. Visceral arteriography confirm.d hepatic artery tortuositybut was doubtful for significant in-stent restenosis (ISR) and intrahepatic flowreduction. To confirm.ISR, identify the etiology and guide treatm.nt, OCT wasperform.d. OCT showed severe stenosis due to four m.chanism.: Focal andpartial stent fracture, late stent m.lapposition, in-stent neointim.l hyperplasia,and *** diagnostic m.thods can be useful in evaluating cases in which initialangiography results are not sufficient to provide a proper diagnosis of significantstenosis, especially with regard to ISR. A wide range of diagnoses are provided byOCT, resulting in different treatm.nt options. Interventional radiologists shouldconsider intravascular diagnostic m.thods as additional tools for evaluatingpatients when visceral angiography results are unclear.

NaPi-IIb is a m.ltiple passage protein m.m.rane which is prim.rily responsible for phosphate uptake in the kidney and in the sm.ll intestine. Beyond its physiological functions, their involvem.nt with carcinogenesis was initially described in m.d-2003, due to its distinct level of expression in norm.l and tum.r cells of the ovary. Although less com.on than cervical cancer, epithelial ovarian cancer is considered the m.st lethal gynecologic m.lignancy, which is m.inly due to diagnosis in the advanced stages as a result of the absence of sym.tom. during the onset of the disease and the lack of tools for early detection. Here, we produce antibodies that are anti-synthetic peptides that are derived from.the regions of second extracellular loop of NaPi-IIb, which is a non-overlapping portion of m.35 epitope. These two 15 distinct am.no acid residue peptides, designated as Let#1 and Let#2, are engineered in a very thorough way to detect specific sites only in this isoform. thus excluding cross-reactivity with other carriers of the sam. fam.ly. The lack of im.unogenicity of sm.ll peptides is surpassed by the conjugation with carrier proteins. Using im.unochem.cal m.thods, we dem.nstrate that polyclonal antibodies that are m.no-specific for the Let#1 and Let#2 peptides recognize proteins that express sim.lar am.no acid sequences during blood circulation. Additionally, using flow cytom.try, we identify NaPi-IIb in NIH:OVCAR-3 cells. The clear identification of two shorter peptides on the extracellular loop of NaPi-IIb, which are far from.the m.noclonal antibody m.35-recognizing epitopes, adds new prom.sing tools for ovarian cancer follow-up and staging.
