The isomeric structures of（E）-1-[4-（2-hydroxy-5-methoxybenzylideneamino）-phenyl] ethanone（I） and（E）-1-[4-（2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzylideneamino） phenyl]ethanone（Ⅱ） ,both C16H15NO3,have been determined using X-ray diffraction techniques and characterized by IR,and their molecular structures have also been optimized at the B3LYp/6-31G（d,p） level using density functional theory（DFT） . The energetic behaviors of the title compounds in solvent media have been examined using B3LYp method with the 6-31G（d,p） basis set by applying the polarizable continuum model（pCM） . The total energies of the title compounds decrease with the increasing polarity of the solvent. In addition,DFT calculations of the title compounds＇ molecular electrostatic potentials（MEp） were performed at the B3LYp/6-31G（d,p） level of theory. X-ray study shows that the title compounds both have strong intramolecular O-H…N hydrogen bonds. The molecules of Ⅰ are linked into a one-dimensional framework structure by C-H…π interactions,while in Ⅱ,intermolecular π···π interactions result in the formation of infinite chains running along the [010].

AIM:To compare the visual acuity(VA),comfort,and patient preference in a soft toric contact lens(TCL)versus soft spherical contact lens(SCL)in low astigmatic subjects during the contact lens(CL)***:This subject-masked,block randomized,2×2 crossover study recruited 40 neophyte subjects(80 eyes)aged 18 to 33 y with astigmatism in the range of 0.75-1.25 D with or without spherical power from-6.00 D to+6.00 *** participants were scheduled for two days CL trial and were fitted with the best-fit SCL and *** 4 h of wear,they were assessed objectively for high contrast VA and subjective vision,comfort,and ***:The responses of 36 subjects(response rate 90%)with a mean age of 23.02±2.97 y(range 18 to 33 y)were ***-line improvement of monocular VA in the logMAR chart was reported to TCL as compared to SCL(-0.044±0.06 vs 0.04±0.03 logMAR,p=0.01)but the binocular vision remained similar(-0.12±0.07 vs-0.14±0.04 logMAR,p=0.38).Subjects felt a noticeable difference in clarity when shifted to TCL as compared to the *** satisfaction with vision(vision quality)was significantly better with TCL(p=0.03).The fatigue with TCL was graded less at 2.5±0.6,compared to SCL at 4.6±1.3(p=0.04).Thirty-three participants(91.6%)preferred to use contact lens of which 26 participants(79%)preferred ***:The findings suggest that VA and comfort are better with TCL as compared to SCL which is only observed if the patient was offered both offering SCL with spherical equivalent power alone as the first option can mislead the practitioner;TCL trial should be the first choice of the lens in low-to-moderate astigmatism.

producing environmentally stable monolayers and few-layers of hafnium disulphide （HfS2） with a high yield to reveal its unlocked electronic and optoelectronic applications is still a challenge. HfS2 is a layered two-dimensional material of group-IV transition metal dichalcogenides. For the first time, we demonstrate a simple and cost-effective method to grow layered belt-like nanocrystals of HfS2 with a notably large interlayer spacing followed by their chemical exfoliation. Various microscopic and spectroscopic techniques confirm that these as-grown crystals exfoliate into single or multiple layers in a few minutes using solvent assisted ultrasonification method in N-cyclohexyl-2- pyrrolidone. The exfoliated nanosheets of HfS2 exhibit an indirect bandgap of 1.3 eV with high stability against surface degradation. Furthermore, we demonstrate that these nanosheets hold potential for electronic applications by fabricating a field-effect transistor based on few-layered HfS2, exhibiting a field-effect mobility of 0.95 cm2/（V.s） with a high on/off current modulation ratio of 10,000 in ambient conditions. The method is scalable and has a potential significance for both academic and industrial purposes.

AIM:To compare the safety and efficacy of conventional versus accelerated(9 mW/cm^2)corneal collagen crosslinking(CXL)in progressive keratoconus at the 2-year ***:In this prospective study,consecutive progressive keratoconus patients were randomized to receive either conventional CXL(CCXL)or accelerated CXL(ACXL;using hydroxypropyl methylcellulose-assisted riboflavin imbibition for 10 min at 9 mW/cm^2).Visual,refractive,keratometric,topographic,and aberrometric outcomes and stromal demarcation line depth(DLD)measurements were compared at the end of a 2-year ***:Thirty-two eyes from 32 patients in the CCXL and 27 eyes from 27 patients in the ACXL groups completed 2-year *** 2y post-CXL,both uncorrected and corrected visual acuities improved significantly in both *** improvements in keratometric readings,flattening rate(flattening of the maximum keratometry more than 1 D),3 topographic indices,and vertical coma were significantly better in the CCXL group compared to the ACXL group(pptical coherence tomography or in vivo confocal microscopy was better detectable and significantly deeper in the CCXL group compared to the ACXL *** deeper DLD was found to be significantly correlated with improvements in the mean keratometry *** was noted in 11.1%of eyes in the ACXL group,whereas progression was not observed in any patient eye in the CCXL ***:In this prospective randomized study,ACXL is less effective in halting the progression of keratoconus at a 2-year follow-up compared to CCXL.

protein-peptide interactions, where one partner is a globular protein （domain） and the other is a flexible linear peptide, are key components of cellular processes predominantly in signal- ing and regulatory networks, hence are prime targets for drug design. To derive the details of the protein-peptide interaction mechanism is often a cumbersome task, though it can be made easier with the availability of specific databases and tools. The peptide Binding protein Database （pep- Bind） is a curated and searchable repository of the structures, sequences and experimental observa- tions of 3100 protein^eptide complexes. The web interface contains a computational tool, protein inter-chain interaction （pICI）, for computing several types of weak or strong interactions at the pro- tein peptide interaction interface and visualizing the identified interactions between residues in Jmol viewer. This initial database release focuses on providing protein-peptide interface informa- tion along with structure and sequence information for protein-peptide complexes deposited in the protein Data Bank （pDB）. Structures in pepBind are classified based on their cellular activity. More than 40% of the structures in the database are found to be involved in different regulatory pathways and nearly 20% in the immune system. These data indicate the importance of protein- peptide complexes in the regulation of cellular processes. pepBind is freely accessible at http：// ***/.

Camelina(Camelina sativa)has emerged as a potential biofuel crop globally with its suitability even as a jet fuel source with 75–80%less greenhouse gas emissions compared to common petroleum *** crop has originated from Mediterranean region and belongs to Brassicaceae ***,DRDO has made initial and pioneer efforts in successful introduction of this crop to India and its agro-technology *** a short duration crop with lesser input requirement,it fits well in the cropping pattern of hilly states of Indian *** areas experience fallow land due to shortage of irrigation water for growing other *** present study revealed that irrigation at flowering stage is more *** at this stage(if only one irrigation is available)exhibited grain yield of 1.004 kg·m^(-2)which was 21 and 80%higher over pod setting and rosette stage irrigation,*** maximum seed yield was observed under treatment where irrigation was provided at all three crop growth stages(2.044 kg·m^(-2)).It was 50%higher over T6 treatment(where two irrigations were given at rosette and flowering stage)and 104%higher over T3(where only one irrigation was given at flowering stage).

AIM:To investigate the role of sex hormones in the early postoperative complications of gastrointestinal diseases. METHODS:A total of 65 patients who underwent operations for gastric and colorectal diseases(mainly malignant diseases)were included in the study. peripheral venous blood samples were collected at different times for analysis of estradiol,testosterone and *** only study endpoint was analysis of postoperative complications. RESULTS:patients of both sexes were uniform but postoperative complication rate was significantly higher in female patients(p=0.027).There was no significant association of estradiol and progesterone with postoperative *** levels in complicated patients were significantly lower than in uncomplicated patients(pperating characteristic curve showed that a lower value of testosterone was a predictor for higher complication rate(ppredictor of complications. CONCLUSION:patients with low testosterone level were prone to higher postoperative complications,which was evident in both ***,further studies are necessary to support this result.

Langerhans cell histiocytosis （LCH） is a group of idiopathic disorders characterized by the proliferation of specialized, bone marrow-derived langerhans cells and mature eosinophils. The clinical spectrum ranges from an acute, fulminant, disseminated disease called Letterer Siwe disease to solitary or few, indolent and chronic lesions of the bone or other organs called eosinophilic granuloma. Involvement of the gastrointestinal tract is very rare in LCH. We present the case of a 53-year-old woman referred by her primary care physician for a screening colonoscopy. A single sessile polyp, measuring 4 mm in size, was found in the rectum. Histopathological examination revealed that the lesion was relatively well circumscribed and comprised mainly a mixture of polygonal cells with moderate-to-abundant pink slightly granular cytoplasm. The nuclei within these cells had frequent grooves and were occasionally folded. Immunohistochemical staining was positive for CD la which confirmed the diagnosis of LCH. On further workup, there was no evidence of involvement of any other organ. On follow up colonoscopy one year later, there was no evidence of disease recurrence. Review of the published literature revealed that LCH presenting as solitary colonic polyp is rare. However, with the increasing rates of screening colonoscopy, more colonic polyps may be identified as LCH on histopathology. This underscores the importance of recognizing this rare condition and ensuring proper follow-up to rule out systemic disease.
