The four-level active neutral point clamped(ANPC)inverter has become increasingly widely used in the renewable energy indus-try since it offers one more voltage level without increasing the total number of active switches compared to the three-level ANPC *** model predictive current control(MPCC)is a promising control method for multi-level ***,the conven-tional MPCC suffers from high computational complexity and tedious weighting factor tuning in multi-level inverter applications.A low-complexity MPCC without weighting factors for a four-level ANPC inverter is proposed in this *** computational burden and voltage vector candidate set are reduced according to the relationship between voltage vector and neutral point voltage *** proposed MPCC shows excellent steady-state and dynamics performances while ensuring the neutral point voltage *** efficacy of the proposed MPCC is verified by simulation and experimental results.

In this paper,an intelligent reflecting surface(IRS)-and-unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)-assisted two-way amplify-and-forward(AF)relay network in maritime Internet of Things(IoT)is proposed,where ship1(S1)and ship2(S2)can be viewed as data collecting *** enhance the message exchange rate between S1 and S2,a problem of maximizing minimum rate is cast,where the variables,namely AF relay beamforming matrix and IRS phase shifts of two time slots,need to be *** achieve a maximum rate,a low-complexity alternately iterative(AI)scheme based on zero forcing and successive convex approximation(LC-ZF-SCA)algorithm is *** obtain a significant rate enhancement,a high-performance AI method based on one step,semidefinite programming and penalty SCA(ONSSDP-PSCA)is *** results show that by the proposed LC-ZF-SCA and ONS-SDP-PSCA methods,the rate of the IRS-and-UAV-assisted AF relay network surpass those of with random phase and only AF relay ***,ONS-SDP-PSCA perform better than LC-ZF-SCA in aspect of rate.

University Student Sample Is Unable to Accurately Assess Their Calorie Needs: Implications for Weight Management and Menu Labeling

National surveys have shown that over 80% of adults do not know their recommended calorie levels. Lack of knowledge about calorie needs could be contributing to the high prevalence of obesity in the US. Young adulthood is a crucial period for the development of dietary behaviors that continue into later adulthood and influence the risk of obesity and chronic disease. This study examined university students’ knowledge of their recommended calorie needs. Subjects (N = 153) were students at Texas Tech University in Fall 2010. Students were given a survey to assess perceived daily calorie need (PDCN) and perceived daily calorie intake (PDCI). Their recommended daily calorie needs (RDCN) and actual calorie intakes (ACI) were determined using ***. PDCN, PDCI, RDCN, and ACI were compared to determine students’ ability to accurately estimate and consume recommended daily calorie levels. The range of their PDCN was 120 kcal to 10,000 kcal. Only 19.7% of students estimated their RDCN accurately. There were significant differences between PDCN and RDCN (t [152] = ?3.223, P = 0.002);PDCI and ACI (t [114] = 3.246, P = 0.002);and ACI and RDCN (t [114] = ?5.6, P = 0.000). Nearly 40% of these university students were overweight. BMI had a significant effect (P = 0.001) on students’ estimation of their RDCN as students with underweight/normal BMI were more accurate. Nutrition education programs focused on calorie needs should be implemented with university students so they will be able to effectively use calorie information on food labels and menus for weight management.

The development of effective antifreeze peptides to control ice growth has attracted a significant amount of attention yet still remains a great ***,we propose a novel design method based on in-depth investigation of repetitive motifs in various ice-binding proteins(IBPs)with evolution *** this way,several peptides with notable antifreeze activity were *** particular,a designed antifreeze peptide named AVD exhibits ideal ice recrystallization inhibition(IRI),solubility,and biocompatibility,making it suitable for use as a cryoprotective agent(CPA).A mutation analysis and molecular dynamics(MD)simulations indicated that the Thr6 and Asn8 residues of the AVD peptide are fundamental to its ice-binding capacity,while the Ser18 residue can synergistically enhance their interaction with ice,revealing the antifreeze mechanism of ***,to evaluate the cryoprotection potential of AVD,the peptide was successfully employed for the cryopreservation of various cells,which demonstrated significant post-freezing cell *** work opens up a new avenue for designing antifreeze materials and provides peptide-based functional modules for synthetic biology.

Selective laser melting(SLM)technology plays an important role in the preparation of porous titanium(Ti)implants with complex structures and precise ***,the processing characteristics of this technology,which include rapid melting and solidification,lead to products with high residual ***,an in situ method was developed to restrain the residual stress and improve the mechanical strength of porous Ti alloys during laser additive *** brief,porous Ti6Al4V was prepared by an SLM three-dimensional(3D)printer equipped with a double laser system that could rescan each layer immediately after solidification of the molten powder,thus reducing the temperature gradient and avoiding rapid melting and *** indicated that double scanning can provide stronger bonding conditions for the honeycomb structure and improve the yield strength and elastic modulus of the *** with an energy density of 75%resulted in 33.5%–38.0%reductions in residual *** porosities of double-scanned specimens were 2%–4%lower than those of singlescanned specimens,and the differences noted increased with increasing sheet *** rescanning laser power should be reduced during the preparation of porous Ti with thick cell walls to ensure dimensional accuracy.

Optimizing the Bacillus thuringiensis(Bt)protein concentration in cotton:Coordinated application of exogenous amino acids and EDTA to reduce spatiotemporal variability in boll and leaf toxins

During the boll formation stage,cotton bolls exhibit the lowest expression of Bacillus thuringiensis(Bt)insecticidal *** to insects varies notably among different organs,which poses challenges for controlling cotton ***,an experimental strategy was designed in the 2020-2021 cotton growing season to coordinate the enhancement of protein synthesis and the attenuation of *** Bt cultivars of gossypium hirsutum,namely the hybrid Sikang 3 and the conventional Sikang 1,were used as test *** treatments were applied at the peak flowering period:CK(the control),T1(amino acids),and T2(amino acids and EDTA).The results show that,in comparison to the CK group,the Bt protein contents were significantly increased in both cotton bolls and their subtending leaves under the T1 and T2 *** maximum levels of increase observed were 67.5%in cotton bolls and 21.7%in ***,the disparity in Bt protein content between cotton bolls and their subtending leaves notably decreased by 31.2%.Correlation analysis suggested that the primary physiological mechanisms for augmenting Bt protein content involve increased protein synthesis and reduced protein catabolism,which are independent of Bt gene expression *** regression and path analysis revealed that elevating the soluble protein content and transaminase activity,while reducing the catabolic enzyme activities,are instrumental in enhancing the Bt protein ***,the coordinated application of amino acids and EDTA emerges as a strategy that can improve the overall resistance of Bt cotton and mitigate the spatiotemporal variations in Bt toxin concentrations in both cotton bolls and leaves.

Neuroprotection studies have shown that induced pluripotent stem(iPS)cells have the possibility to transform neuroprotection *** the present study,iPS cells were generated from human renal epithelial cells and were then differentiated into *** in the iPScell group were maintained in stem cell *** contrast,cells in the iPS-neuron group were first maintained in neural induction medium and expansion medium containing ROCK inhibitors,and then cultivated in neuronal differentiation medium and neuronal maturation medium to induce the neural stem cells to differentiate into *** expression of relevant markers was compared at different stages of *** staining revealed that cells in the iPS-neuron group expressed the neural stem cell markers SOX1 and nestin on day 11 of induction,and neuronal markers TUBB3 and NeuN on day 21 of *** chain reaction results demonstrated that,compared with the iPS-cell group,TUBB3 gene expression in the iPS-neuron group was increased *** research revealed that,compared with the iPS-cell group,the gene expression and immunoreactivity of mu opioid receptor in the iPS-neuron group were significantly increased(38.3-fold and 5.7-fold,respectively),but those of kappa opioid receptor had only a slight change(1.33-fold and 1.57-fold increases,respectively).Together,these data indicate that human iPS cells can be induced into mu opioid receptor-and kappa opioid receptor-expressing neurons,and that they may be useful to simulate human opioid receptor function in vitro and explore the underlying mechanisms of human conditions.

Establishment of a Tumor-bearing Mouse Model Stably Expressing EgFP Labeled Human MUC1 VNTRs

Two eukaryotic vectors expressing 9 tandem repeats of human MUCI（VNTR）, VR1012-VNTR, and pEgFP-VNTR, were constructed by cloning VNTR gene into VR1012 and pEgFP, respectively. VNTR stably expressing murine Lewis lung carcinoma（LLC） cell line（VNTR^＋ LLC） was established by Lipofectamine-mediated transfection of pEgFP-VNTR into LLC cells. The EgFP expression was observed under a fluorescent microscope and VNTR expression in VNTR^＋ LLC cells was confirmed by means of Western blotting. A syngenic graft tumor model was generated by subcutaneous injection of VNTR^＋ LLC cells into C57/BL6 mice and tumor size increased rapidly with time and in a cell qumber dependent manner. VNTR mRNA expression in the tumor formed was confirmed by RT-PCR. After the third immunization mice were challenged subcutaneously with 5×10^5 VNTR^＋ LLC cells, a significant reduction of subcutaneous tumor growth was observed in the groups immunized with VNTR plasmid DNA compared with that in the groups immunized with the vector DNA alone. Thus, the suppression of subcutaneous tumor was antigen-specific. This model is useful for the development of tumor vaccines targeting MUCI VNTRs.
