Transcriptome profiling reveals phase-specific gene expression in the developing barley inflorescence

The shape of an inflorescence varies among cereals,ranging from a highly branched panicle in rice to a much more compact spike in barley(Hordeum vulgare L.)and wheat(Triticum aestivum L.).However,little is known about the molecular basis of cereal inflorescence *** profiled transcriptomes at three developmental stages of the barley main shoot apex—spikelet initiation,floral organ differentiation,and floral organ growth—and compared them with those from vegetative seedling *** analyses identified 3688 genes differentially transcribed between the three meristem stages,with a further 1394 genes preferentially expressed in reproductive compared with vegetative *** assembly and Gene Ontology analysis classified these 4888 genes into 28 clusters,revealing distinct patterns for genes such as transcription factors,histone modification,and cell-cycle progression specific for each stage of inflorescence *** also compared expression patterns of VRS(SIX-ROWED SPIKE)genes and auxin-,gibberellic acid-and cytokinin-associated genes between two-rowed and six-rowed barley to describe regulators of lateral spikelet *** findings reveal barley inflorescence phase-specific gene expression,identify new candidate genes that regulate barley meristem activities and flower development,and provide a new genetic resource for further dissection of the molecular mechanisms of spike development.

Subthreshold behavior of AlInSb/InSb high electron mobility transistors

We propose a scaling theory for single gate Al In Sb/In Sb high electron mobility transistors（HEMTs） by solving the two-dimensional（2D） Poisson equation. In our model, the effective conductive path effect（ECPE） is taken into account to overcome the problems arising from the device scaling. The potential in the effective conducting path is developed and a simple scaling equation is derived. This equation is solved to obtain the minimum channel potential Φdeff,minand the new scaling factor α to model the subthreshold behavior of the HEMTs. The developed model minimizes the leakage current and improves the subthreshold swing degradation of the HEMTs. The results of the analytical model are verified by numerical simulation with a Sentaurus TCAD device simulator.

目的:1.提出一种在外型不变的部件内模拟不同细胞结构的方法;2.发展激光选区熔化(SLM)部件轻量化参数设计的新方法;3.利用这一方案实现优化设计并比较不同细胞结构的质量。创新点:1.提出基于拉丁超立方实验设计、遗传算法、克里金元模型和有限元方法的轻量化优化方案;2.该方法可通过较少的采样获得良好的结果并能克服几何奇点(内部网格细化算法)的问题。方法:1.进行内部细胞结构的生成和参数化;2.根据输入数据(设计变量和约束条件等)采用拉丁超立方实验设计模拟所选样本;3.利用先前的数据创建克里金元模型并利用预测的元模型来计算遗传算法演化过程中的适应函数;4.将模拟实现的优化结果添加到数据中更新元模型,并通过数次重复迭代提高元模型的准确度直至误差小于5%;5.将这一概念应用于不同的几何结构,然后通过SLM加工制造优化后的几何结构,并在弯曲载荷下进行测试。结论:1.该优化算法通过适当的参数化克服了SLM技术的相关限制,可适用于SLM部件的优化;2.立方单元格在计算机辅助设计定义、参数化和时间优化等方面有一些优势,但和有限元分析的估计结果相比,其存在的缺乏坚实支撑的水平条(悬挂结构)会造成机械性能损失;3.将立方单元结构与用户自定义的参数化增强相结合可以得到更有效的设计结果(更高的比刚度),但更多的设计变量也延长了所需要的优化时间。

Hole Mobility of Molecular β-Copper Phthalocyanine Crystal

A Monte Carlo approach is used to estimate hole mobilities in molecularβ−copper phthalocyanine(CuPc)crystal for different applied electric field *** to the crystal symmetry,the twelve neighboring molecules in the three-dimensional crystal are selected in the hopping rate *** functional theory is employed to derive the molecular interaction between the central and neighboring molecules for various applied electric *** derived molecular hopping rate is applied to 80×80×80 lattice sites under periodic boundary *** order to achieve accurate statistics,each calculation includes 6561 particles with more than 10000 hopping steps under an applied electric field of 0.5–3.5 MV/*** results indicate that the molecular hopping strongly depends on the molecular orientation and neighboring sites related to the applied electric field *** estimated carrier mobility can be described by the percentage occupation in each neighboring site and the obtained hole mobility value is in the same range of the measured values of single crystal *** calculated mobility for applied electric field along the c crystal axis exhibits the highest values while the mobility along the b axis has the smallest value.

23K2O·27nb2O5·50SiO 2（KnS）,13K2O·10na2O·27nb2O5·50SiO 2（KnanS） and 15K2O·12Li2O·27nb2O5·46SiO2（KLinS） transparent glasses were synthesized by melt-quenching technique,and studied by differential thermal analysis（DTA）,X-ray diffraction（XRD） and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy（HRTEM） to reveal the effect of the devitrification behaviour on transparent *** above the glass transition temperature T g in the KnS glass,an unidentified phase was formed,while in KnanS and KLinS,mixed-alkali niobate phases with tungsten bronze structure were obtained by bulk *** treatments at T g performed on the KnS glass resulted in the transparent nanostructure with second order harmonic generation（SHG） *** treatment for 10 h on KnanS and KLinS decreased the first DTA exothermic peaks（at least 24C）,indicating the bulk nucleation,which was confirmed by the DTA in comparison with the powdered as-quenched *** and KLinS showed similar XRD profiles as the K3Li2nb5O15 crystal with the five most intense peaks at 22.7,29.4,32.3,46.3 and 52.0 *** micrograph showed clear-cut nano-sized circular domains and spherical nanocrystals dispersed into the amorphous matrix.

The magnetic properties of spinel Geni2-2x Co2x O4 systems in the range 0 ≤ x ≤1 are studied by mean field theory and high-temperature series expansions. The nearest neighbouring and the next-neighbouring superexchange interactions J1 （x） and J2（x） are evaluated for these systems in the range 0 ≤ x ≤ 1, by using the first theory. The intra-planar and the inter-planar interactions and the exchange energy are deduced. The second theory is applied in the spinel Geni2-2xCo2O4 systems, combined with the Padé approximants method, to determine the magnetic phase diagrams （Tn versus dilution x） in the range 0 ≤ x ≤1. The obtained theoretical results are in agreement with experimental data obtained by magnetic measurements. The critical exponents associated with the magnetic susceptibility γ and the correlation lengths u are deduced.

Structural and micro structural studies of PbO-doped SnO_2 sensor for detection of methanol, propanol and acetone

In the present work the structural information of PbO-doped SnO2 thick film sensor has been investigated with X-ray diffractometer （XRD） and scanning electron microscope （SEM）. Initially, SnO2 powder was derived using sol-gel process and was subsequently doped with PbO and ground up to nanosized particles. A suitable gas sensor structure was fabricated on 1′′×1′′ alumina substrate using thick film technology. The necessary paste for screen printing was also developed. SEM results showed sol-gel derived powder gets more agglomerated in the thick film form. The sensitivity of the sensor has been investigated at different temperatures （150 ？C？350 ？C） upon exposure to methanol, propanol and acetone, yielding a maximum at 250 ？C for acetone with 1 wt% PbO-doping while at 350 ？C for propanol with 3 wt% PbO-doping of the sensor. The reduction of particle size to nanometers （validated through XRD） leads to a dramatic improvement in sensitivity of sensors for the chosen organic vapors. The results also correlate well with the microstructural properties of the material and the dopant.

All-fiber, wavelength-tunable ultrafast praseodymium fiber laser

The interest in tunable ultrafast fiber lasers operating in the 1.3 μm region has seen a significant increase due to rising demands for bandwidth as well as the zero-dispersion characteristic of silica fibers in this wavelength region. In this work, a tunable mode-locked praseodymium-doped fluoride fiber(PDFF) laser using single-walled carbon nanotubes as a saturable absorber is demonstrated. The mode-locked pulses are generated at a central wavelength of 1302 nm with a pulse repetition rate of 5.92 MHz and pulse width of 1.13 ps. The tunability of the mode-locked PDFF laser covers a tuning range of 11 nm.

Investigations on Heat Transfer Enhancement in Pool Boiling with Water-CuO nano-Fluids

The main focus of the present work is to investigate Critical Heat Flux (CHF) enhancement using CuO nanofluid relative to CHF of pure water. To estimate the effect of nanoparticles on the CHF, pool boiling CHF values were measured for various volume concentrations of CuO nanofluid and compared with pure water. CHF enhancement of 130% was recorded at 0.2 % by volume of CuO nano-fluids. Surface roughness of the heater surface exposed to three measured heating cycles indicated surface modifications at different volume concentrations of nanofluid. SEM image of the heater surface revealed porous layer build up, which is thought to be the reason for CHF enhancement.
