Reinforcement learning-driven local transactive energy market fordistributed energy resources

local energy markets are emerging as a tool for coordinating generation, storage, and consumption of energyfrom distributed resources. In combination with automation, they promise to provide an effective energymanagement framework that is fair and brings system-level savings. The cooperative–competitive natureof energy markets calls for multi-agent based automation with learning energy trading agents. However,depending on the dynamics of the agent–environment interaction, this approach may yield unintended behaviorof market participants. Thus, the design of market mechanisms suitable for reinforcement learning agentsmust take into account this interplay. This article introduces autonomous local energy exchange (AlEX) asan experimental framework that combines multi-agent learning and double auction mechanism. Participantsdetermine their internal price signals and make energy management decisions through market interactions,rather than relying on predetermined external price signals. The main contribution of this article is examinationof compatibility between specific market elements and independent learning agents. Effects of different marketproperties are evaluated through simulation experiments, and the results are used for determine a suitablemarket design. The results show that market truthfulness maintains demand-response functionality, while weakbudget balancing provides a strong reinforcement signal for the learning agents. The resulting agent behavioris compared with two baselines: net billing and time-of-use rates. The AlEX-based pricing is more responsiveto fluctuations in the community net load compared to the time-of-use. The more accurate accounting ofrenewable energy usage reduced bills by a median 38.8% compared to net billing, confirming the ability tobetter facilitate demand response.

Serum positive cagA in patients with non-ulcer dyspepsia and peptic ulcer disease from two centers in different regions of Turkey

AIM: To investigate and compare frequencies of serum positive cagA in patients from two separate regions of Turkey who were grouped according to the presence of peptic ulcer disease or non-ulcer ***: One hundred and eighty Helicobacter pyloripositive patients with peptic ulcer disease or non-ulcer dyspepsia were included in the study. One hundred and fourteen patients had non-ulcer dyspepsia and 66 had peptic ulcer disease (32 with gastric ulcers and/or erosions and 34with duodenal ulcers). Each patient was tested for serum antibody to H. pylori cagA protein by enzyme ***: The total frequency of serum positive cagA in the study group was 97.2 %. The rates in the patients with peptic ulcers and in those with non-ulcer dyspepsia were 100% and 95.6%, respectively. These results were similar to those reported in Asian studies, but higher than those that have been noted in other studies from Turkey and Western ***: The high rates of serum positive cagA in these patients with peptic ulcer disease and non-ulcer dyspepsia were similar to results reported in Asia. The fact that there was high seroum prevalence regardless of ulcer status suggests that factors other than cagA might be responsible for ulceration or other types of severe pathology in H. pylori-positive individuals.

The Rural Women Participation in Small Scale livestock Management Decisions

In the Turkish society, family is accepted as the basic element of social structure. However, the role and importance ofwomen in the family is mostly neglected. Thirty-three percent of women state that their primary duties are child care and domestictask. Besides duties of women in the house, the participation of women to both agricultural production and activities outside thehouse is quite high. On the other hand, only 5% of women accept income generating activities as the main duty of women. Thepercentage of women who accept all above-mentioned responsibilities as women’s duty is 60%. This high ratio shows that agreat deal of women can participate indoor or outdoor activities depending on the family needs, however, their responsibilitiesstemming from being a mother or wife always have thepriority. However, in rural areas women are involved in agriculturalproduction activities as a labor, in adition to housework, care for children and the elderly. In small and medium-sized enterprises,labor-intensive work is mostly undertaken by women, and workloads are often higher than men. In this study, face-to-face surveyswith 84 women in small-scale livestock farming in villages in the central province of Diyarbakır yielded results. It has beenunderstood that women do not make decisions on domestic affairs in their own family, that they can not decide on their own behalf,they give more opinions on decisions taken, and even some families do not even report opinions on decisions. It may be possible toimprove and increase the living standards and social and economic structures of women living in rural areas by increasing theirknowledge of animal care.

The effect of caloric restriction on genetical pathways

Energy restriction is defined as reducing nutrient intake without dragging the organism into malnutrition. Energy restriction is preferred because it is a non-genetic intervention that increases life expectancy. Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD~+)and adenosine monophosphate(AMP)levels, which are the indicators of intracellular energy deficiency, increase with energy restriction. The increase in NAD~+ level stimulates sirtuin(SIRT)enzymes, and the increase in AMP level stimulates AMP-activated protein kinase(AMPK). Various mechanisms are regulated by stimulating these enzymes. By Forkhead box O(FoxO)transcription factors, the ability of resistance to oxidative stress increases, and antioxidant genes, DNA repair, and autophagy genes are stimulated. Apoptosis is induced by stimulation of the p53 protein, and tumor growth is suppressed by the disruption of aging cells. The suppression of phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI3K)-/-Akt, and therefore mTOR signal stimulates autophagy and mitophagia, and cleanses damaged cells and organelles. Mitochondrial biogenesis is stimulated, antioxidant capacity increases, and inflammatory response decreases. Adipose tissue and lipid metabolism are regulated by the regulation of fatty acid synthesis and oxidation. As a consequence, the effects of caloric restriction on cellular metabolism are regulated through the genetic pathways.

Bake-Hardening Response of High Martensite Dual-Phase Steel with Different Morphologies and Volume Fractions

Bake-hardening behaviour of carbon steel with different martensite morphologies and volume fraction was investigated. The specimens with fibrous and bulky martensite were prestrained in tension by 4%. After this, they were unloaded and bake hardened at 180 ℃ for 10-160 min. It was found that dual-phase steel samples which were bake hardened at 180 ℃ for 20 rain showed an increase in the yield stress （YS） and ultimate tensile stress （UTS） but a decrease in ductility. Further increase in the bake-hardening time of 80 or 160 min has reduced the YS and UTS, but increased the ductility. △σ （increase in stress due to bake hardening）, YS and UTS values are higher for the microstructure containing fibrous martensite compared to the microstructure-containing bulky martensite. It was also observed that at a given baking temperature Aa, YS and UTS increased by volume of martensite.

Hydrophobic coating of surfaces by plasma polymerization in an RF plasma reactor with an outer planar electrode:synthesis,characterization and biocompatibility

This paper presents the plasma polymerization of poly（hexafluorobutyl acrylate）（PHFBA） thin films on different substrates in an RF plasma reactor with an outer planar electrode. This reactor configuration allows？large area uniformity and fast processing times. Deposition rates of up to60 nm min-1were observed. The influence？of plasma power and substrate temperature on the？deposition rate, structure and wettability of the as-deposited films was？investigated. It was observed that better hydrophobicity was obtained at high plasma power and in low temperature conditions. PHFBA thin films deposited on electrospun poly（acrylonitrile） fiber mats under such conditions resulted in superhydrophobic surfaces with？contact angle values greater than 150°.In？vitro cell studies using human epithelial cells demonstrated the non-toxic nature of the？plasma-polymerized PHFBA films.

Functional roles and clinical values of insulin-like growth factor-binding protein-5 in different types of cancers

Insulin-like growth factor-bindin g proteins (IgFBPs) are critical regulators of the mitogenic activity of insulin-like growth factors (IgFs). IgFBP5, one of these IgFBPs, has special structural features, including a nuclear transport domain, heparin-binding motif, and IgF/extracellular matrix/acid-labile subunit-binding sites. Furthermore, IgFBP5 has several functional effects on carcinogenesis and even normal cell processes, such as cell growth, death, motility, and tissue remodeling. These biological effects are sometimes related with IgF (IgF-dependent effects) and sometimes not (IgF-independent effects). The functional role of IgFBP5 is most likely determined in a cell-type and tissue-type specific manner but also depends on cell context, especially in terms of the diversity of interacting proteins and the potential for nuclear localization. Clinical findings show that IgFBP5 has the potential to be a useful clinical biomarker for predicting response to therapy and clinical outcome of cancer patients. In this review, we summarize the functional diversity and clinical importance of IgFBP5 in different types of cancers.

Electro-Optics and Band gap Energies of Nanosilver-Coated TiO2 Nanotubes on Titanium Metal

TiO2 nanotubes on Ti metal surface were prepared by the electrochemical anodization method. Then, nanosilver was deposited onto the nanotubes by the electroless dip coating and the anodization. The obtained TiO2 nanotubes were examined by using scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, cyclic voltammetry, and UV–Vis. The electrochemical band gap（Eg^CV） of the nanosilver-coated TiO2 nanotubes prepared by the anodization was found as 1.54 eV. Using the UV–Vis measurements, the optical band gap energy（Eg^op.） was calculated as 1.51 eV for the Ag/TiO2 nanotubes obtained by electroless dip coating. The electrical conductivity of the TiO2 nanotubes also increased from 3.0 × 10^-4 to 34.7 S/cm after nano Ag deposition by the anodization *** Ag/TiO2 nanotubes with low band gap and high electrical conductivity are desirable for the applications in electronics, li-ion batteries, and solar cells.

Simultaneous Determination of Amoxicillin, lansoprazole, and levofloxacin in Pharmaceuticals by HPlC with UV-Vis Detector

In this study,a specific and rapid high-performance liquid chromatography(HPlC)method has been developed and validated for the simultaneous determination of amoxicillin,lansoprazole,and levofloxacin in *** was used as internal standard(IS)in the ***-Vis absorption spectra of the analytes and the IS were taken for the determination of suitable absorption wavelength of UV-Vis detector(diode array detector,DAD)in the HPlC instrument.A reverse-phase C18 column was used in the separation and determination of amoxicillin,lansoprazole,and levofloxacin together with the *** pharmaceutical analytes were quantified by the UV-Vis diode array detector in the HPlC using MeOH-0.01 M CH_(3)COONH_(4)(70:30)as the mobile *** linear calibration curves of them were measured in the ranges of 15-40 mg/l,2.5-15.0 mg/l,and 7.5-20.0 mg/l for amoxicillin,lansoprazole,and levofloxacin,*** calibration correlations(R^(2):0.9942,0.9997,and 0.9974)were *** percentage recoveries of the amoxicillin,lan-soprazole,and levofloxacin in commercial pharmaceuticals were obtained as 105.5%,98.57%,and 102.5%,*** results showed that amoxicillin,lansoprazole,and levofloxacin together with paracetamol IS could be separated and determined simultaneously with low lOD and lOQ values using the proposed HPlC method.

Thermal analysis and Joule-Thomson expansion of black hole exhibiting metric-affine gravity

This study examines a recently hypothesized black hole,which is a perfect solution of metric-affine gravity with a positive cosmological constant,and its thermodynamic features as well as the Joule-Thomson *** develop some thermodynamical quantities,such as volume,gibbs free energy,and heat capacity,using the entropy and Hawking *** also examine the first law of thermodynamics and thermal fluctuations,which might eliminate certain black hole *** this regard,a phase transition from unstable to stable is conceivable when the first law order corrections are *** addition,we study the efficiency of this system as a heat engine and the effect of metric-affine gravity for the physical parameters q_(e),q_(m),κ_(s),κ_(d),and κ_(sh).Further,we study the Joule-Thomson coefficient and inversion temperature,and observe the isenthalpic curves in the Ti−Pi *** metric-affine gravity,a comparison is made between a van der Waals fluid and a black hole to study their similarities and differences.
