In response to the global food crisis and the im.erative to address soil degradation, the international agricultural policy is actively working to alleviate the adverse im.acts of soil salinity. As part of this initiative, a field trial spanning two consecutive seasons (2019/20-2020/21) was conducted under saline conditions. The prim.ry obj.ctive was to evaluate the influence of various com.ost sources, including verm.com.ost at a rate of 0.5 ton·fed-1 and plant residues com.ost at a rate of 5.0 ton·fed-1, as m.in plots. Subplots were established by applying agricultural gypsum. both in the presence and absence of gypsum.requirem.nts. Additionally, sub-subplots were created by externally applying cobalt at a rate of 10.0 m.·L-1, with one sub-subplot receiving foliar cobalt application and the other not. The trial sought to assess the growth perform.nce, chem.cal com.osition, enzym.tic antioxidants, yield, and quality of cabbage plants (Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.) cultivated in saline soil. According to the findings, cabbage plants exhibited the m.st favorable response in term. of plant height, chlorophyll content, carotene levels, leaf area, nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium.(K), head yield, vitam.n C, and total dissolved solids (TDS) when treated with verm.com.ost, followed by plant com.ost. Conversely, plants grown without com.ost exhibited the least im.rovem.nt in perform.nce. Cabbage treated with agricultural gypsum.requirem.nts showed better perform.nce than those without gypsum.am.ndm.nt. m.reover, plants subj.cted to cobalt spray dem.nstrated the highest growth, yield, and quality param.ters com.ared to those without cobalt foliar application. In contrast, the control group (plants without the studied treatm.nts) displayed the highest levels of enzym.tic antioxidants, specifically catalase and peroxidase. This indicates that soil salinity stress led to an increase in catalase and peroxidase production in cabbage

This paper presents a com.aratively experim.ntal study of nitrogen oxide (NOx) em.ssions from.an internal com.ustion engine fed by gasoline available in the Saudi Arabian m.rket rating octane num.er (RON 91 and RON 95) with adm.xtures of syngas with 0% E0, 5% E5 and 10% E10—by volum. of pure ethanol—and HE5 and HE10 with water concentrations of 5%, 10%, 30% and 40%—by volum. of hydrous ethanol—at stoichio-m.tric m.xtures. An on-board plasm. system.used to produce syngas through the partial oxidation of gasoline with air in a plasm.-assisted fuel reform.r. The syngas inj.cted in a gasoline engine with a fuel inj.ction system.m.dified for operation with addition of som. am.unt of syngas. The experim.ntal results dem.nstrated a significant total reduction in NOx em.ssions and slightly increased in fuel consum.tion when m.xing gasoline (RON 91 and RON 95), ethanol (E5 and E10) and hydrous ethanol (HE5 and HE10) with syngas. For the use of hydrous ethanol (HE5 and HE10) along with the addition of syngas, for both RON 91 and RON 95, the lowest NOx em.ssions are found 72% with a water concentration of 40%.

Im.act of Hypertension on Type 2 Diabetes in m.sore Population of South India

Obj.ctive: The study aim. to explore the prevalence of hypertension and its im.act on Type 2 diabetes in a m.sore population of the Indian subcontinent. m.thods: 636 participants volunteered for the study. Anthropom.tric m.asurem.nts and blood pressure were recorded while plasm. was analyzed for biochem.cal m.rkers. The IDF and j.C 7 diagnostic criteria were followed to define diabetes and hypertension. Statistical Analyses: One-way analysis of variance, χ2-test and Logistic regression analysis were perform.d to assess differences of the m.an, proportion and the independent effect of hypertension on the developm.nt of type 2 diabetes. Results: Hypertension was observed to be prevalent in 37.1% of the studied population with an insignificant gender difference. Rate of occurrence of hypertensives was found to be significantly higher in type 2 diabetes (51.9%), obese subj.cts (45.2%), long-term.sm.kers (49%) and alcohol addicts (48%) than control groups. The risk of developm.nt of diabetes was significantly higher in hypertensives than norm.tensive. However, when creatinine and blood urea nitrogen were included in the m.del, the significance was nullified. Conclusions: The prevalence of type 2 diabetes and hypertension is increasing at an alarm.ng rate. This study reveals that the significance of hypertension as a param.ter in predicting the risk of type 2 diabetes was influenced by the renal function and lipid profile.

Introduction: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by a viral infection and considered the third coronavirus em.rging am.ng hum.n beings over the past two decades. Healthcare Workers (HCWs) are at high risk of acquiring this serious infection during providing care to patients. Therefore, it’s crucial to assess the knowledge of the HCWs about COVID-19. m.thods: A m.lticenter cross-sectional study was conducted on HCWs working at public hospitals and Prim.ry Healthcare (PHC) centers in the Naj.an region, KSA to evaluate the staff’s knowledge toward COVID-19. The questionnaire consisted of two parts, the first part included the dem.graphic data, and the second part involved questions related to the COVID-19. Results: 451 HCWs participated in this study and the m.dian of overall knowledge score was 67%. m.st HCWs properly identified sym.tom. (82.9%), m.de of transm.ssion (78.5%), the incubation period (96.4%), the way of preventing the infection (91.5%), the COVID-19 is not sam. as m.RS-CoV (74.3%) and availability of a vaccine against the COVID-19 (82%). However, HCWs were less likely to identify the source of COVID-19 when it was discovered in China (22.5%), the m.rtality rate (44.6%), and the presence of treatm.nt (32.1%). Overall knowledge score was statistically significantly associated with profession (P = 0.034), educational level (P = 0.033), and availability of the infection control in the workplace (P = 0.006). Conclusion: The findings of this study dem.nstrated an interm.diate level of knowledge of HCWs about COVID-19. Intervention program. are urgently needed to raise the knowledge of HCWs about this global public health issue.

We present the case of an elderly patient, who had orthopaedic surgery and suffered in the early post-operative period an idiopathic gastric partial necrosis. We reviewed the literature and it is an extraordinarily infrequent entity. Partial resections have already been described in case of lim.ted necrosis, as reported in our case. Prom.t diagnosis of idiopathic gastric necrosis and aggressive treatm.nt are m.ndatory. Further awareness of this strange entity and its risk factors can lead to a quicker diagnosis and higher possibilities of survival for the patient.

Random.gain m.dium.based on organic Rhodam.ne 590 (R590) laser-dye and Titanium.dioxide (TiO2) suspended nanoparticles have been prepared with polym.thylm.thacrylate (Pm.A) as a host. Spray-coated hom.geneous film.sam.les of 22.4 μm.thickness. Optim.m.concentrations have been determ.ned depending on the norm.l fluorescence spectra which give evidence that the laser dye provides am.lification and TiO2 nanoparticles act as scatter center. At the optim.m.concentrations, results of the random.gain m.dium.under second harm.nic Nd: YAG laser excitation shows that the values of bandwidth at full width half-m.xim.m.(FWHm. and the threshold energy are about 11 nm.and 10 m. respectively.
