Effects of variation in seed sources and pre-sowing treatments on seed germination of Tamarindus indica: a multi-purpose tree species in Bangladesh

We investigated the morphology and germination of Tamarindus indica seeds in order to discover the ef- fects of variation in seed sources and pre-sowing treatments on germination. The experiment was carried out in the nursery of the Forestry and Wood Technology Discipline, Khulna University, Bangladesh. Seeds were collected from different but healthy trees from various locations in Bangladesh and subjected to four pre-sowing treatments, i.e., control, immersion in cold water （4℃ for 24 h）, immersion in hot water （80℃ for 10 min） and scarification with sand paper. Seed germination was carried out in poly-bags with a mixture of topsoil and cow dung in the ratio of 3：1. The average length of the fresh seeds was 1.35 ＋ 0.26 cm, their width 1.07 ＋ 0.20 cm and thickness 0.69 ＋ 0.11 cm. The results revealed that pre-sowing treatments affected the germination process of seeds, which significantly increased the germination percentage with the cold water （81.67%） and scarification with sand paper （82.33%） treatments, compared with those in the control （58.33%） and hot water treatment （59.00%）. In all treatments germination started on average within 5 to 7 days after the start of the treatments and were completed from 13 to 19 days later. The greatest success in germination （82.33%） was found in scarification with sand paper, followed with 81.67% in the cold water treatment. The results of analyses of variance （ANOVA） showed significant differences （p 〈 0.05） in germination closing dates, seed germination periods and germination percentages among the treatments but no significant difference among seed sources. However, the effect of the interaction between seed source variation and pre-treatment differed significantly in seed germination closing dates and germination percentages. We recommend cold water treatment （submersion of seed at a temperature of 4℃ for a 24-h period） for seed germination of T. indica in rural Bangladesh.

Antinociceptive Effect of Ethanolic Extract of Codiaeum variegatum Leaves in Mice

Background: Codiaeum variegatum, sometimes called garden croton, is a tropical plant in the Euphorbiaceae family. Historically used to cure various conditions, including intestinal infections, fever, ulcers, wounds, and gonorrhea. This work aimed to investigate the antinociceptive effects of ethanolic extract of Codiaeum variegatum leaves (EECV) in animal models. Methods: Five different pain models—the hot plate, tail immersion, acetic acid-induced writhing, formalin, and glutamate-induced nociception tests—were utilized to assess the antinociceptive activity in mice. The traditional drugs such as diclofenac sodium (10 mg/kg, i.p.) and morphine sulphate (5 mg/kg). EECV was administered orally at varying doses of 100, 200, and 300 mg/kg (0.1 mL/mouse), while the control group was given deionized water. Results: The current study found that all mouse models of heat- and chemical-induced pain had robust EECV reflections of their antinociceptive properties (*p Conclusions: The current finding offers a fresh perspective on the ethanolic extract of Codiaeum variegatum leaves’ antinociceptive properties in mice. This plant’s phytochemical analysis revealed the presence of triterpenoids, sterols, alkaloids, flavonoids, and general glycosides, all of which may have antinociceptive properties. More research on the mechanism of action and associated pharmacological studies, such as in vivo analysis, medication formulation, and clinical trials, is strongly advised.

In this paper, a new statistical averaging technique is proposed for finding an optimal solution to a multi-objective linear fractional programming problem (MOLFPP) and multi-objective linear programming problem (MOLPP) by using new arithmetic averaging method and new geometric averaging method. It is significantly noticeable same characteristics among all the technique while taking maximum or minimum among all optimized values for multi-objective functions using simplex algorithm. The characteristics provided from the problems are verified by the numerical examples.

Assessment of Physico-Chemical and Microbial Quality of Sugarcane Juice Sold by Street Vendors in Three Regions of Bangladesh

Sugar cane juice is a popular refreshing drink in most part of Bangladesh. It has great taste and health benefits;also it is available most of the public places at reasonable prices which consumed by road side customers including general public, shopping personals, tourists, students. In our country, street vendors crushing sugarcane between roller crusher and sold without any heat treatment or preservative, also served with or without added ice and lemon juice. The study aimed to identify and compare the physico-chemical and microbial quality of sugarcane juice. The chemical qualities of juices including moisture, PH, ash, total soluble solid, total sugar, reducing sugar and titrable acidity were found slightly different in Mymensingh, Gazipur and Narayangonj areas. The highest and lowest value of moisture, ash, PH, total soluble solids, total sugar, reducing sugar and titrable acidity were found in 84.33% - 79.26% (Gazipur-Mymensingh), 0.57% - 0.04% (Mymensingh-Gazipur), 5.9 - 2.9 (Gazipur-Narayangonj), 17.48% - 4.98% (Mymensingh-Narayangonj), 21.9% - 6.56% (Mymensingh-Gazipur), 3.7 - 2.1 (Gazipur-Mymensingh) and 0.523% - 0.007% (Narayangonj-Gazipur) respectively. For microbiological analysis, the total viable count of sugar cane juice in Mymensingh, Gazipur and Narayangonj were ranged from 0.6 × 105 - 43.6 × 105 cfu/ml, 4.6 × 105 - 21.6 × 105 cfu/ml and 3.6 × 105 - 36.6 × 105 cfu/ml respectively, where the permitted value is 1.0 × 104 cfu/ml, whereas the total coliform count was ranged from 0.4 × 105 - 6.4 × 105 cfu/ml, 0.6 × 105 - 8.4 × 105 cfu/ml and 0.00 - 8.4 × 105 cfu/ml, where the permitted value is 100 cfu/ml and total fungal count was ranged from 5.5 × 105 - 56.5 × 105 cfu/ml, 21.5 × 105 - 54.5 × 105 cfu/ml and 32.5 × 105 - 68.5 × 105 cfu/

Development and Characterization of Hybrid Film Made of Hydroxyapatite, Poly Vinyl Alcohol and Gelatin for Biomedical Application

In the recent research field of bone tissue engineering, polymeric materials play an implacable role in mimes the natural behavior of hard and soft tissues. In some medical conditions such as diabetics, osteoarthritis, burns, or joint replacement conditions, this polymeric materials implication enhances the internal mechanical activities which result in the early recovery of disease by facilitating the wound healing process. In this study, hybrid films have been synthesized based on polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), gelatin, and gelatin with glycerin incorporated with different concentrations of pre-prepared hydroxyapatite (HAP) by solution casting method at room temperature in biosafety cabinet. Glutaraldehyde has been added as a crosslinker in this whole procedure. The mechanical property, swelling, and porosity percentage have been conducted to characterize the structural stability of the synthesized hybrid films. Porosity and swelling of samples are also represented by proper biocompatibility (>90% porosity and swelling in DDW and PBF vary between 287%~72%). Tensile strength (TS), E modulus (Young’s modulus), Elongation at maximum, and Elongation at break are observed to perceive the mechanical properties of hybrid film samples, which are compatible with mechanical properties of different tissue such as trabecular bone, articular cartilage, tendon, nerve and skin tissue. Though, biocompatibility tests both in vivo and in vitro are essential for clinical application in the future. However, the experiment carried out till now explains the true possibility of newly synthesized hybrid films for long-term drug delivery directly on wound sites for wound healing and burn dressing patients in head-neck surgery reconstruction, diabetic gangrene foot, as well as cartilage or joint replacement therapy.

Studies of XRD and FTIR on Synthesized Novel Hybrid Thin Film Made of Hydroxyapatite, Poly Vinyl Alcohol and Gelatin for Biomedical Application

With the modern advancement of treatment approaches in medical science, the application of biomaterials in tissue engineering provides a remarkable opportunity to overcome graft rejection as well as proper wound healing. In this study, novel hybrid films have been synthesized by incorporation of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), gelatin, and gelatin with glycerin along with different concentrations of pre-prepared hydroxyapatite (HAP) by solution casting method at room temperature in a biosafety cabinet. Glutaraldehyde has been added as a crosslinker in this whole procedure. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) have been conducted to observe and compare the structural and chemical stability of the synthesized hybrid film properties. The FTIR results and X-Ray Diffraction analyses confirmed the chemical interactions between HAP, PVA, gelatin, and glycerin have occurred. The crystallinity of HAP also remains in all the prepared hybrid film samples that are observed in XRD. It is expected that these newly synthesized hybrid films could be a better opportunity for various sectors of tissue engineering such as skin, bone, tendon, and cartilage. These synthesized hybrid films can be suitable for wound healing covering. These studies could be a new scope for long-term drug delivery directly on wound sites in diabetic gangrene foot or burn patients as well as cartilage or joint replacement therapy.

Hybrid Effects on MHD Mixed Convective Boundary Layer Flow through a Sloped Plate in Existence of Nanofluid-Saturated Porous Medium

This study examines the effects of heat, mass, and boundary layer assumptions-based nanoparticle characteristics on the hybrid effects of using MHD in conjunction with mixed convective flow through a sloped vertical pore plate in the existence of medium of porous. Physical characteristics such as thermo-diffusion, injection-suction, and viscous dissipation are taken into consideration, in addition to an equally distributed magnetic force utilized as well in the completely opposite path of the flow. By means of several non-dimensional transformations, the momentum, energy, concentration, and nanoparticle volume fraction equations under investigation are converted in terms of nonlinear boundary layer equations and computationally resolved by utilizing the sixth-order Runge-Kutta strategy in combination together with the iteration of Nachtsheim-Swigert shooting procedure. By contrasting the findings produced for a few particular examples with those found in the published literature, the correctness of the numerical result is verified, and a rather good agreement is found. Utilizing various ranges of pertinent factors, computing findings are determined not only regarding velocity, temperature, and concentration as well as nanoparticle fraction of volume but also concerning with local skin-friction coefficient, local Nusselt and general Sherwood numbers associated with nanoparticle Sherwood number. The findings of the study demonstrate that increasing the fluid suction parameter decreases the velocity and temperature of the flow field in conjunction with concentration and has a variable impact on the nanoparticle fraction of volume, despite an increasing behavior in the local skin friction coefficient and local Nusselt as well as general Sherwood numbers and an increasing behavior in the local nanoparticle Sherwood number. Multi-strain probiotics provide the most dependable approaches to improve health,immune response,and disease resistance in farmed *** the present study,we examined the effects of multi-species probiotics on the survival,growth,immune response,and disease resistance of rohu(Labeo rohita)*** hatched larvae from the day of first feeding(average weight of 0.003 g)were reared with multi-species probiotics having a combination of Bacillus subtilis(109 colony forming units(cfu)/mL)and Lactobacillus spp.(Lactobacillus plantarum,Lactobacillus buchneri-1011 cfu/mL)in water containing doses of 0(control-C),0.5 mL/L(treatment 1-T1),and 1.0 mL/L(treatment 2-T2)in triplicates for 90 *** the experiment,a challenge test was performed to assess the fish's resistance to pathogenic Aeromonas *** higher survival was recorded in larvae of treated groups(87%in T2 and 79%in T1)compared to the control(62%).Significantly higher growth performance(weight gain and specific growth rate—SGR)was shown by the probiotic-treated larval groups compared to the *** supplementation resulted in significantly higher counts of total viable colony(TVC)and lactic acid bacteria(LAB)in the *** immunological parameters(mucosal fold fattening,goblet cell abundance,expansion of lamina propria and enterocytes)of the gut were significantly better in probiotic-treated *** liver of treated fish showed irregular shape nuclei turning into regular shape and reducing spaces between the hepatic ***-treated fish had the highest post-challenge survival rate(90%)against *** *** erythrocytes of challenged fish treated with probiotics had significantly lower frequencies of various nuclear and cellular *** findings suggest that multi-species probiotic supplements could improve the survival,growth,health status,and immune response of rohu in the early stages of its development.

Tuberculosis(TB)remains a leading cause of death among infectious diseases,particularly in poor *** infections,multidrug-resistant and ex-tensively drug-resistant TB strains,as well as the coexistence of chronic illnesses such as diabetes mellitus(DM)greatly aggravate TB morbidity and ***[particularly type 2 DM(T2DM)]and TB have converged making their control even more *** contemporary global epidemics,TB-DM behaves like a syndemic,a synergistic confluence of two highly prevalent diseases.T2DM is a risk factor for developing more severe forms of multi-drug resistant-TB and TB recurrence after preventive *** a bidirectional relationship exists between TB and DM,it is necessary to concurrently treat both,and promote recommendations for the joint management of both *** are also some drug-drug interactions resulting in adverse treatment outcomes in TB-DM patients including treatment failure,and *** addition,autophagy may play a role in these ***,the TB-DM comorbidities present several health challenges,requiring a focus on multidisciplinary collaboration and integrated strategies,to effectively deal with this double *** effectively manage the comorbidity,further screening in affected countries,more suitable drugs,and better treatment strategies are required.
