The authors study a porous medium equation with a right-hand side. The operator has nonlocal diffusion effects given by an inverse fractional Laplacian *** derivative in time is also fractional and is of Caputo-type, which takes into account"memory". The precise model isD_t~αu- div(u(-Δ)^(-σ)u) = f, 0 < σ <1/*** paper poses the problem over {t ∈ R^+, x ∈ R^n} with nonnegative initial data u(0, x) ≥0 as well as the right-hand side f ≥ 0. The existence for weak solutions when f, u(0, x)have exponential decay at infinity is proved. The main result is H¨older continuity for such weak solutions.

Local host plant specialization in an insect herbivore may be caused by numerous factors, including host-specific natural enemy pressures or a local lack of suitable host-plant choices that are available elsewhere in its range. Such local specialization or ＂ecological monophagy＇, for whatever reason, may reflect reduced ability to behaviourally accept or physiologically utilize other allopatric hosts that are naturally used elsewhere by the species. We tested this feeding specialization hypothesis using the Tasmanian subspecies of Macleay＇s swallowtail butterfly, Graphium macleayanum moggana （Papilionidae）, which uses only a single host-plant species, Antherosperma moschatum （southern sassafras, of the Monlmiaceae）. Further north, this same butterfly species （G. m. macleayanum） uses at least 13 host-plant species from seven genera and four families （Lauraceae, Rutaceae, Winteraceae, and Monlmiaceae）. Our larval feeding assays with G. m. moggana from Tasmania showed that certain Magnoliaceae and Lauraceae could support some larval growth to pupation. However, such growth was slower and survival was lower than observed on their normal southern sassafras host （Monimiaceae）. We also found that toxicity of particular plant species varied tremendously within plant families （for both the Magnoliceae and the Monlmiaceae）.

This study presents the design,fabrication,and testing of biodegradable magnesium/iron batteries featuring polycaprolactone(PCL)as a packaging and functional *** use of PCL encapsulation minimized the electrochemical cell volume and supported longer discharge lifetimes and higher discharge rates than state-of-the-art biodegradable ***,the electrodes were separated and insulated by a 5μm-thick PCL layer that served as both a battery packaging material and a permeable coating for physiological solution to penetrate and activate the battery.A systematic investigation of the electrode size,discharge rates,electrolyte selection,and polymeric coating revealed the critical reactions and phenomena governing the performance of the Mg-based biodegradable *** with previous reports on biodegradable batteries and medicalgrade non-degradable lithium-ion batteries demonstrated the superior performance of PCL-coated Mg/Fe batteries at these size scales,which exhibited an energy density of 694 Wh kg^(−1) and a total volume of 0.02 cm^(3).

Functional Inferences of Environmental Coccolithovirus Biodiversity

The cosmopolitan calcifying alga Emiliania huxleyi is one of the most abundant bloom forming coccolithophore species in the oceans and plays an important role in global biogeochemical cycling. Coccolithoviruses are a major cause of coccolithophore bloom termination and have been studied in laboratory, mesocosm and open ocean studies. However, little is known about the dynamic interactions between the host and its viruses, and less is known about the natural diversity and role of functionally important genes within natural coccolithovirus communities. Here, we investigate the temporal and spatial distribution of coccolithoviruses by the use of molecular fingerprinting techniques PCR, DGGE and genomie sequencing. The natural biodiversity of the virus genes encoding the major capsid protein （MCP） and serine palmitoyltransferase （SPT） were analysed in samples obtained from the Atlantic Meridional Transect （AMT）, the North Sea and the L4 site in the Westem Channel Observatory. We discovered nine new coccolithovirus genotypes across the AMT and L4 site, with the majority of MCP sequences observed at the deep chlorophyll maximum layer of the sampled sites on the transect. We also found four new SPT gene variations in the North Sea and at L4. Their translated fragments and the full protein sequence of SPT from laboratory strains EhV-86 and EhV-99B 1 were modelled and revealed that the theoretical fold differs among strains. Variation identified in the structural distance between the two domains of the SPT protein may have an impact on the catalytic capabilities of its active site. In summary, the combined use of ＇standard＇ markers （i.e. MCP）, in combination with metabolically relevant markers （i.e. SPT） are useful in the study of the phylogeny and functional biodiversity of coccolithoviruses, and can provide an interesting intracellular insight into the evolution of these viruses and their ability to infect and replicate within their algal hosts.

The extensive land use conversion expected to occur to meet demands for bioenergy feedstock production will likely have widespread impacts on agroecosystem biodiversity and ecosystem services, including carbon sequestration. Although arthropod detritivores are known to contribute to litter decomposition and thus energy flow and nutrient cycling in many plant communities, their importance in bioenergy feedstock communities has not yet been assessed. We undertook an experimental study quantifying rates of litter mass loss and nutrient cycling in the presence and absence of these organisms in three bioenergy feedstock crops—miscanthus （Miscanthus x giganteus）, switchgrass （Panicum virgatum）, and a planted prairie community. Overall arthropod abundance and litter decomposition rates were similar in all three communities. Despite effective reduction of arthropods in experimental plots via insecticide application, litter decomposition rates, inorganic nitrogen leaching, and carbon–nitrogen ratios did not differ significantly between control （with arthropods） and treatment （without arthropods） plots in any of the three community types. Our findings suggest that changes in arthropod faunal composition associated with widespread adoption of bioenergy feedstock crops may not be associated with profoundly altered arthropod-mediated litter decomposition and nutrient release.

Addition of Metanx in pregabalin partial responders for painful diabetic neuropathy

Objective: To study the effect of addition of Metanx?on burning parasthesias in patients with symptomatic diabetic neuropathy who had obtained only partial symptom resolution with pregabalin. Research design and methods: This was an open-label pilot study. There were 16 patients (7 males, 9 females) in the study group and 8 patients (3 males, 5 females) in the control group. A patient numeric rating scale (0 - 10) of neuropathy associated pain was obtained at baseline and at 20 weeks. The control group continued on a fixed dosage of pregabalin (Lyrica) without additional medication, while the study group was supplemented with Metanx?(L-methylfolate, methylcobalamin, and pyridoxal 5- phosphate), in addition to being continued on a fixed dosage of pregabalin. Results: After 20 weeks, patients in the study group experienced greater pain relief compared to the control group, (87.5% vs. 25% respectively, p = 0.005). The average pain score reduction after 20 weeks in the study group was 3 compared to0.25 inthe control group (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Our study suggested that addition of Metanx?may be used for the relief of pain in patients that have obtained only partial resolution of symptomatology from pregabalin.
