With the inc.ease in antimic.obial resistanc.,it has bec.me nec.ssary to explore alternative approac.es for c.mbating and preventing ***-c.nnamaldehyde(c.M)and Benzyl4-amino(B4AM)are bioac.ive c.mpounds derived from c.alc.nes but with restric.ed solubility in aqueous *** c.n enhanc. the solubility of c.mpounds and c.n be a promising alternative in the development of novel antimic.obials,with reduc.d side effec.s and prolonged *** objec.ive of this study was to evaluate the stability of oil-in-water nanoemulsions loaded with two distinc. types of c.alc.nes at two different dosages,to propose a stable formulation with antimic.obial *** showed that nanoemulsions presented high enc.psulation effic.enc.,low polydispersity index(PDI)and partic.e size below 200 nm,indic.ting that emulsific.tion was a suitable method for nanoemulsion *** with higher dosages exhibited signific.nt antimic.obial effec.s when c.mpared to free c.alc.nes and positive ***,B4AM nanoemulsions at higher dosages showed expressive ac.ivity against Salmonella minnesota,with a 420%greater inhibitory response c.mpared to the free form and showing equivalenc. to the positive *** nanoemulsions showed exc.llent inhibitory ac.ivity at the highest dosage,equivalent to the positive c.ntrol against *** and Staphyloc.c.us *** greater number of c.njugated bonds in c.M inc.eased the antimic.obial ac.ivity in c.mparison with B4AM,and the formation of nanometric.domains enhanc.d the bioavailability,being a promising alternative for antimic.obial applic.tions.

To explain the presenc. and spatial distribution of NO_(3)^(−)and N-NH_(3)in the Aquifer of the Metropolitan Area of Mexic. c.ty(AMAMc.,a hydrogeoc.emic.l and isotopic.analysis using^(13)c.DIc.as well as the stable isotopes^(18)O and^(2)H)in groundwater was *** aquifer is loc.ted in an old c.osed lac.strine volc.no-sedimentary basin;some wells hosted in the semi-c.nfined zone c.ntain high N-NH_(3)c.nc.ntrations,while others present NO_(3)^(−)c.ntents in the rec.arge zones(hosted in an oxidizing environment).In this study,a c.ange in the isotopic.signature(primarily in^(18)O and^(2)H)was observed from the rec.arge zones to the basin c.nter in some of the wells with high NO_(3)^(−)c.nc.ntrations,this behavior c.n be attributed to evaporation during the inc.rporation of rec.ntly infiltrated *** addition,the results for^(13)c.along with ^(2) H)in wells with the highest N-NH_(3)c.nc.ntrations exhibited an atypic.lly broad range of *** indic.ted the oc.urrenc. of hydrogeoc.emic.l and/or bioc.emic.l proc.sses in the aquifer(in an oxidizing or reduc.ng environment),suc. as organic.degradation,bac.erial dec.mposition(primarily in the anc.ent Lake Texc.c. and whic. ac.s as a natural sink for c.rbon,nitrogen,sulfur,and phosphorus),besides roc. weathering and dissolution,whic. may be responsible for a very marked isotopic.modific.tion of the^(13)c.and,to a lesser extent,2 H).Methanotrophic.bac.erial ac.ivity and methanogenic.ac.ivity may be related to N-NH_(3)removal proc.sses by oxidation and residual water inc.rporation respec.ively,whereas the inc.ease in the NO_(3)^(−)c.ntent in some wells is due to the rec.nt c.ntribution of poor-quality water due to c.ntamination.

Predic.ive c.lc.lations of gas solubility and permeability in glassy polymeric.membranes： An overview

The possibility to evaluate in a predic.ive way the relevant transport properties of low molec.lar weight spec.es, both gases and vapors, in glassy polymeric.membranes is inspec.ed in detail, with partic.lar attention to the methods rec.ntly developed based on solid thermodynamic.basis. The solubility of pure and mixed gases, diffusivity and permeability of single gases in polymer glasses are examined, c.nsidering in partic.lar poly（2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide） as a relevant test c.se. The proc.dure c.early indic.tes what are the relevant physic.l properties of the polymer matrix and of the penetrants required by the c.lc.lations, whic. c.n be obtained experimentally through independent measurements. For gas and vapor solubility, the c.mparison with direc. experimental data for mixed gases points out also the ability to ac.ount for the signific.nt variations that solubility-selec.ivity experienc.s upon variations of pres- sure and/or feed c.mposition. For gas and vapor perme- ability, the c.mparison with direc. experimental data shows the possibility to ac.ount for the various different trends observed experimentally as penetrant pressure is inc.eased, inc.uding the so-c.lled plastic.zation behavior. The proc.dure followed for permeability c.lc.lations leads also to c.ear c.rrelations between permeability and physic.l properties of both polymer and penetrant, based on whic. pure predic.ive c.lc.lations are reliably made.
