inter-Calibration Between Plasma instruments Onboard DEMETER

The in-situ measurements of the ionospheric plasma that we use come from two instruments of the scientific payload of the satellite DEMETER; the plasma analyser iAP （instrument d＇analyse du plasma） and the Langmuir probe iSL （instrument Sonde de Langmuir）. DEMETER is a micro-satellite realized by the CNES（Centre National d＇Etudes Spatiales, France） with a principal objective to seek a possible influence of the seismic activity on the electromagnetic waves in the ionosphere and on the ionospheric plasma. The satellite was placed on June 29, 2004, in a circular and quasi helio-synchronous orbit at -710 km altitude. The experiments function primarily at mid-latitudes （from ＋60° to -60°）. The iAP data were analysed to deduce the ion population （densities of the dominant ions, i.e. generally O^＋, H^＋ and He^＋） therefore the total ion density. The use of data iAP thus requires some precaution to make sure that the electric equilibrium conditions of the satellite, such as the satellite potential （Фsat）, are obtained during the treatment of routine, does not induce an error of measurement. When this potential is negative, the minority light ions H^＋ and He^＋ can be measured in a reliable way when their proportion is above 3% to 5% of that of O^＋. The critical limitation is： under certain conditions, the satellite potential becomes positive and reach a value about -0.5 V so that it becomes impossible to measure H^＋ ions. This is likely to involve a significant error on the composition and the density of the plasma. Therefore we carried out a calibration to estimate the missing density. Cardiac involvement in disseminated diffuse large B-cell lymphoma,successful management with chemotherapy dose reduction guided by cardiac imaging: A case report and review of literature

BACKGROUND Secondary cardiac involvement by lymphoma has received limited attention in the medical literature, despite its grave prognosis. Although chemotherapy improves patients' survival, a subgroup of treated patients dies suddenly due to myocardial rupture following chemotherapy initiation. Reducing the initial chemotherapy dose with dose escalation to standard doses may be effective in minimizing this risk but the data are limited. We report on the successful management of a patient with disseminated diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL) involving the heart using such *** SUMMARY An 18-year-old male presented to our hospital with six months history of progressive dyspnea, orthopnea and cough. On physical examination, the patient was found to have a plethoric and mildly edematous face, fixed elevation of the right internal jugular vein, suggestive of superior vena cava obstruction, and a pelvic mass. investigations during admission including a thoracoabdominal computed tomography(CT) scan with CT guided biopsy of the pelvic mass,echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging led to the diagnosis of disseminated DLBCL with cardiac involvement. The patients were successfully treated with chemotherapy dose reduction followed by dose escalation to standard doses, under the guidance of cardiac imaging. The patient completed chemotherapy and underwent a successful bone marrow transplant. He is currently in remission and has a normal left ventricular *** imaging-guided chemotherapy dosing may minimize the risk of myocardial rupture in cardiac lymphoma. Data are limited. Management should be individualized.

A non-conventional hybrid numerical approach with multi-dimensional random sampling for cocaine abuse in Spain

This paper introduces a non-conventional approach with multi-dimensional random sampling to solve a cocaine abuse model with statistical probability. The mean Latin hypercube finite difference (MLHFD) method is proposed for the first time via hybrid integration of the classical numerical finite difference (FD) formula with Latin hypercube sampling (LHS) technique to create a random distribution for the model parameters which are dependent on time t. The LHS technique gives advantage to MLHFD method to produce fast variation of the parameters' values via number of multidimensional simulations (100, 1000 and 5000). The generated Latin hypercube sample which is random or non-deterministic in nature is further integrated with the FD method to complete one cycle of LHS-FD simulation iteration. This process is repeated until n final iterations of LHS-FD are obtained. The means of these n final solutions (MLHFD solutions) are tabulated, graphed and analyzed. The numerical simulation results of MLHFD for the SEiR model are presented side-by-side with deterministic solutions obtained from the classical FD scheme and homotopy analysis method with Pade approximation (HAM-Pade). The present MLHFD results are also compared with the previous non-deterministic statistical estimations from 1995 to 2015. Good agreement between the two is perceived with small errors. MLHFD method can be used to predict future behavior, range and prediction interval for the epidemic model solutions. The expected profiles of the cocaine abuse subpopulations are projected until the year 2045. Both the statistical estimations and the deterministic results of FD and HAM-Pade are found to be within the MLHFD prediction intervals for all the years and for all the subpopulations considered.

influence of Organic Matter Content on Hydro-Structural Properties of Constructed Technosols

Constructed Technosols may be an alternative for creating urban green spaces. However, the hydro-structural properties emer- ging from the assembly of artefacts have never been documented. The soil shrinkage curve （SSC） could provide relevant structural information about constructed Technosols, such as the water holding capacity of each pore system （macropores and micropores）. The objectives of this study were （i） to evaluate the SSC and water retention curve （WRC） to describe the structure of constructed Tech- nosols and （ii） to understand the influence of organic matter content on soil hydro-structural properties. in this study, Technosols were obtained by mixing green waste compost （GWC） with the material excavated from deep horizons of soil （EDH）. The CWC was mixed with EDH in six different volumetric percentages from 0% to 50% （GWC/total）. The GWC and EDH exhibited highly divergent hydro-structural properties： the SSC was hyperbolic for GWC and sigmoid for EDH. All six mixture treatments （0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% GWC） exhibited the classical sigmoid shape, revealing two embedded levels of pore systems. The 20% GWC treatment was hydro-structurally similar to the 30% and 40% GWC treatments; so, a large quantity of expansive GWC is unnecessary. The relation with the GWC percentage was a second-degree equation for volumetric available water in micropores, but was linear for volumetric available water in macropores and total volumetric available water. Total volumetric available water in the 50% GWC treatment was twice as high as that in the 0% GWC treatment. By combining SSCs and WRCs, increasing the GWC percentage increased water holding capacity by decreasing the maximum equivalent size of water-saturated micropores at the shrinkage limit and increasing the maximum equivalent size of water-saturated macropores, resulting in an increased range of pore diameter able to retain available water.

Evaluation of patients with dry eye disease for conjunctival Chlamydia trachomatis and Ureaplasma urealyticum

AiM：To determine the possibility of the development of dry eye disease（DED） as a result of persistent infection with Chlamydia trachomatis and Ureaplasma urealyticum in the conjunctiva of ***： This study was conducted on 58 patients of age range 20-50 y,diagnosed with DED confirmed by Schirmer i test and tear breakup *** non-dry eye control group included 27 subjects of the same *** specimens were collected as conjunctival scrapings and swabs divided into three groups： the first used for bacterial culture,the second and third taken to detect Chlamydia trachomatis and Ureaplasma urealyticum by direct fluorescent antibody（DFA） assay and polymerase chain reaction（PCR） method. RESULTS： Chlamydia trachomatis was detected in 65.5% and 76% of DED patients by DFA and PCR methods *** urealyticum was found in 44.8% of DED infected patients using the PCR *** organisms were identified in only 37.9% of DED patients found to be *** subjects had a 22%detection rate of Chlamydia trachomatis by DFA assay versus a 7% detection rate by PCR; while Ureaplasma urealyticum was detected in 3.7% of the controls by PCR *** conjunctival culture revealed that gram positive microorganisms represented 75% of isolates with coagulase negative Staphylococci the most common（50%） followed by Staphylococcus aureus（20%）,whereas gram negative microorganisms occurred in 25% of cases,isolating Moraxella *** the most frequent organism. CONCLUSiON： Our results tend to point out that Chlamydia trachomatis and Ureaplasma urealyticum were detected in a moderate percentage of patients with DED,and could be a fair possibility for its *** is more reliable in detecting Chlamydia trachomatis than DFA *** presence of isolated conjunctival bacterial microflora can be of some potential value.

Role of AXL in invasion and drug resistance of colon and breast cancer cells and its association with p53 alterations

To characterize AXL receptor tyrosine kinase (AXL) expression in relationship to tumor protein P53 (TP53 gene, p53 protein) and its role in tumor invasion and response to *** used 14 cell lines, including 3 isogenic pairs carrying mutant/knockout p53, to gain insight into the relationship between AXL and TP53. These included HCT116, HCT116.p53 mutant, RKO, and RKO.p53-/- lines (all from colon cancers) as well as breast cancer cell lines MCF7 and 1001 (MCF7-p53 mutant clone). HeLa cell line was used as a positive control for epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT). AXL expression was determined by Western blotting using rabbit monoclonal antibody clone C89E7. AXL siRNA silencing was performed and followed by collagen invasion assay. Cell viability analysis using the sulforhodamine B assay and the invasion assay were performed after exposure to chemotherapeutic agents (doxorubicin for breast cancer cells; 5FU or irinotecan for colon cancer cells).RESULTSWe showed that the introduction of p53 mutations or knockout increased expression levels of AXL in isogenic cells compared to the matching p53 wild-type parental cells. Overall, we found a trend for correlation between the potential EMT candidate AXL, p53 alterations, and EMT markers in colorectal and breast cancers. The expression of AXL in RKO cells, a rare colon cancer cell line with inactive Wnt signaling, suggests that the AXL oncogene might provide an alternative genetic pathway for colorectal carcinogenesis in the absence of Wnt signaling activation and TP53 mutation. AXL silencing in the TP53 mutant isogenic cell lines 1001, HCT116.p53 mutant and RKO.P53-/- was > 95% efficient and the silenced cells were less invasive compared to the parental TP53 wild-type cells.
