This study provides new insights on the phylogenetic position of the lichenicolous fungal genus Abrothallus based on six molecular m.rkers(nuSSU,nuLSU,mtSSU,rPB1,rPB2 and TEF-α).In a broad-scale analysis,we detected high support for inclusion of the genus within Dothideomycetes.A further analysis provided support for Abrothallus as a member of the subclass Pleosporomycetidae as a sister group of Jahnulales,an order of aquatic *** the exclusive characters of this group of apotheciate fungi within the Dothidiomycetes,a new monotypic order Abrothallales is here introduced together with the new family *** a multi-locus analysis(based on the six loci indicated above plus ITS)restricted to 12 putative Abrothallus species,two clearly separated clades were observed:one com.rising species growing on lichens of the families Parmeliaceae and ramalinaceae,and the second including species that live on lichens of the order Peltigerales and the family Cladoniaceae.

We performed experiments to determine the critical moment for movement initiation of a millimeter bead on a rotating rough *** corresponding critical angular velocities were measured for glass and stainless-steel ball bearings over two different rough surfaces with glued glass beads.A basic theoretical analysis was developed to explain the observed *** the expectation of a simple approach with the presence of the obstacles offered by a rough surface could be sufficient to describe the problem,we prove here that the sole con sideration of these obstacles,and even friction,are insufficient to explain the results in the range of a few-millimeter glass *** the thermodynamic work of adhesion between surfaces is significant,the adhesion forces must be considered in the force balance for particle detachment:.This effect is a determinant for describing theoretically and num.rically the dynamics of millimeter particles.

The growing interest of the pharmaceutical industry in Near Infrared-Chemical Imaging (NIr-CI) is a result of its high usefulness for quality control analyses of drugs throughout their production process (particularly of its non-destructive nature and expeditious data acquisition).In this work,the concentration and distribution of the major and minor components of pharmaceutical tablets are determined and the spatial distribution from the internal and external sides has been *** addition,the same NIr-CI allowed the coating thickness and its surface distribution to be *** were processed to extract the target data and calibration models constructed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) *** concentrations of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) and excipients obtained for uncoated cores were essentially identical to the nominal values of the pharmaceutical *** the predictive ability of the calibration models applied to the coated tablets decreased as the coating thickness increased.

In the context of the quantum-mechanical description of single-molecule surface-enhanced raman scattering,intensity-field correlation measurements of photons emitted from a plasmonic cavity are explored,theoretically,using the technique of conditional homodyne *** inelastic interplay between plasmons and vibrations of a diatomic molecule placed inside the cavity can be manifested in phase-dependent third-order fluctuations of the light recorded by the aforesaid technique,allowing us to reveal signatures of non-classicality(indicatives of squeezing)of the outgoing raman photons.

Certain wild animals represent sentinels to address issues related to environmental pollution,since they can provide integrative data on both pollutant exposure and biological *** their technological benefits,PBdes are considered a threat to environmental health due to their persistence,toxicity,and capacity to be *** pollutants have been found geographically widespread in fish,particularly in predator species such as *** aim of this work is to critically review the applicability and usefulness of wild trout for assessing PBdes in freshwater *** reports include data from highly industrialized areas as well as areas from.remote regions with relatively low human activity,including European and North Am.rican great lakes and freshwater environments in Europe,Greenland,subarctic areas and Patagonia,respectively.A summ.ry of relevant factors were grouped into organism-specific factors(food habits,age,size,lipid content,sex and reproduction,tissue type,mechanism of contaminant uptake and metabolism),and PBde levels in the surrounding environment(sediment).Five wild trout species[rainbow trout(Oncorhynchus mykiss),brown trout(Salmo trutta),lake trout(Salvelinus namaycush),arctic char(Salvelinus alpinus),and brook trout(Salvelinus fontinalis)],collected worldwide within the 1994 to present time frame,were *** techniques(principal component analysis-PCA)and mapping approach,showed clear differences in geographic distribution patterns of PBde levels in trout depending on the region studied:wild trout from European and North Am.rican great lakes have the highest PBde *** pattern could be due to high industrial activity at these locations.A correlational approach used to explore intraspecific relationships between PBde levels and m.rphometry,showed positive relationships only for brown ***,brown trout showed the highest trout-to-sediment ratios,which is suggestive of a relatively greater capa

In this work three fuel consumption and exhaust emission models,ADVISOr,VT-mICrO and the European Environmental Agency Emission factors,have been used to obtain fuel consumption(FC)and exhaust *** models have been used at micro-scale,using the two signal treatment methods *** manuscript presents:1)a methodology to collect data in real urban driving cycles,2)an estimation of FC and tailpipe emissions using some available models in literature,and 3)a novel analysis of the results based on delivered wheel *** results include Fuel Consumption(FC),CO_(2),NO_(x) and Pm_(10) emissions,which are derived from the three *** the first part of the paper we present a new procedure for incomplete drive cycle data treatment,which is necessary for real drive cycle acquisition in high density *** the models are used to obtain second by second FC and exhaust ***,a new methodology named Cycle Analysis by Ordered Power(CAbOP)is presented and used to compare the *** method consists in the re-ordering of time dependant data,considering the wheel mechanical power domain instead of the standard time *** new strategy allows the 5 situations in drive cycles to be clearly visualized:hard breaking zone,slowdowns,idle or stop zone,sustained speed zone and acceleration *** complete methodology is applied in two real drive cycles surveyed in Barcelona(Spain)and the results are compared with a standardized WLTC urban cycle.

Doryopteris triphylla (Pteridaceae-Cheilanthoideae) grows in xeric habitats in Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina. The aim of this study was to characterize D. triphylla anatomically, histochemically and cytogenetically. For anatomical characterization, rhizomes, roots, petioles and leaves were made and then stained using Safranine-Astra Blue for further observations. Leaf blades were also cleared. For histochemical analysis, leaf cross sections were stained with different reagents to identify glandular trichomes compounds. For cytogenetic characterization, a karyogram was performed using laboratory cultivated roots. results show a dictyostelic rhizome covered with scales with apical secreting gland;diarch roots;petiole cross-sections show thick cuticle, uniseriate epidermis, parenchymatic cortex cells with thick walls and a vascular bundle with two xylem groups;and hypostomatic fronds with glandular trichomes. Histochemical studies of secretion products of the glandular trichomes were positive for polysaccharides, pectins, lipids, acid lipids, dihydroxyphenols, phenols and flavonoids. Cytogenetically, D. triphylla is described as a diploid species (2n = 60), with chromosomes gradually decreasing in size. The apical glands in scales of rhizomes, the presence of two xylem groups in the vascular bundle in the petiole and the glandular trichomes on the abaxial surface are new contributions to the species. The type of chemical products secreted by glandular leaf trichomes and karyotype estimation is shown for the first time in this species.

Corrosion behavior of hypoeutectic Al-Cu alloys in H_2SO_4 and NaCl solutions

The aim of this work was to evaluate the electrochemical behaviour of hypoeutectic Al-Cu alloys imm.rsed in two different solutions containing sulphate and chloride ions, respectively. The influence of Al2Cu associated to the dendritic arm spacing on the general corrosion resistance of such alloys is analysed. The typical microstructural pattern was examined by using scanning electron microscope. The corrosion tests were performed in both 0.5 m sulphuric acid and 0.5 m NaCl solutions at 25℃ by using an electrochemical impedance spectroscopy （EIS） technique and potentiodynamic polarization curves. Equivalent circuits by using the ZView software, were also used to provide quantitative support for the discussions. It was found that as the Cu content increased （i.e., increasing the Al2Cu fraction）, a higher susceptibility to the corrosion action in the NaCl solution is detected. In contrast, the tests carried out in the H2SO4 solution resulted in similar corrosion,rates for the three different hypoeutectic alloys.
