Ex-Situ Cultivation of medicinal Plant Species in High Altitudes at Swat,Pakistan

An ex-situ experiment was conducted to evaluate the growth performance of six medicinal species (Bergenia ciliata,Valeriana jatamansi,Dioscorea deltoidea,Paeonia emodi,Polygonum amplexicaule and Viola serpense) from upper Swat,*** were conducted at four different locations in the upper Swat valley at altitudes ranging from 1200 to 1900 *** objectives were:1) to determine the suitability of ex-situ cultivation of different medicinal species,and;2) to assess the economic geasibility of growing medicinal plants in the area.A highest mean survival of 80.7% across all locations was observed for Viola serpense,followed by 58.7% for Valeriana *** remaining four species exhibited very poor survival rates,although Polygonum amplexicaule,did show encouraging signs of growth and flowered,before experiencing high mortality rates late in the *** generally seemed to enhance the degree of sprouting for all species except Viola ***,the productive yield of *** was certainly not reduced,but rather slightly enhanced in the higher altitude ***,cultivation of only two of the investigated species,Valeriana jatamansi and Viola serpense,appeared successful and potentially economically viable under farmland conditions at upper Swat.

The article presents a miniaturized monopole antenna dedicated to modern flexible electronic *** antenna combines three fundamental properties in a single ***,it is characterized by a compact size compared to the state-of-the-art literature with an overall size of 18×18×0.254 mm3,secondly,the proposed antenna integrates the reconfigurability function of frequency,produced by means of a Positive-IntrinsicNegative(PIN)diode introduced into the radiating ***,the antenna is able to switch between different frequencies and different modes,making it suitable to meet the ever-changing demands of communication ***,the antenna is equipped by the property of *** fact,a conformability test is performed and has demonstrated the stability of the antenna performance under normal and bending ***,in order to demonstrate the potential of the proposed antenna,a comparison between the simulated and measured results is made and turned out to be a strong agreement,making the antenna an excellent candidate for future miniaturized rigid and conformal devices.

In this paper,we analytically study the relationship between the coercive field,remnant polarization and the thickness of a ferroelectric material,required for the minimum subthreshold swing in a negative capacitance *** interdependence of the ferroelectric material properties shown in this study is defined by the capacitance matching conditions in the subthreshold region in an NC *** this paper,we propose an analytical model to find the optimal ferroelectric thickness and channel doping to achieve a minimum subthreshold swing,due to a particular ferroelectric *** results have been validated against the numerical and experimental results already available in the ***,we obtain the minimum possible subthreshold swing for different ferroelectric materials used in the gate stack of an NC-FET in the context of a manufacturable semiconductor *** results are presented in the form of a table,which shows the calculated channel doping,ferroelectric thickness and minimum subthreshold for five different ferroelectric materials.

Objective:To delineate immunomodulatory role of histamine on antibody generation pr of ile in rabbit in the present dose-dependent histamine ***:The cohort comprised of three groups(Ⅲ,ⅣandⅤ),containing six rabbits each,and received subcutaneous histamine 50μg/kg×bis in die(b.i.d.),100μg/kg×*** 200μg/kg X b.i.d.,respectively for 10 days (starting from the 1st day).They were subsequently immunized on the 3rd day with intravenous injection of sheep blood cell(SRBC)(1×10 cells/mL).groupⅡ(positive control)(n=6) received vehicle(sterile distilled water) and immunized at day 3 similarly while groupⅠ(negative control) (n=6) remained non-immunized and received only *** experimentations were performed in *** samples were collected on pre-immunization(pre-I)(day 0),as well as on days 7-,14-,21-,28- and 58- post-immunization(post-I).Immunological parameters[total immunoglobulins(Igs),Igm and Igg]were analyzed by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) ***:Histamine could influence a detectable antibody response to SRBC as early as day 7-post-I,which lasted until day 58- *** results were found statistically significant(Pence that histamine has a short-term effect on antibody generation(until its presence in the body),and the antibody generation titer in vivo were affected by the concentration of histamine.

AIm： TO determine the possible modulating effect of the COX-2 polymorphisms, -765g→C and -1195A→g, on the risk of colorectal cancer （CRC） in a Dutch population. mETHODS： This case-control study includes 326 patients with CRC and 369 age- and gender-matched controls. genotypes of the COX-2 polymorphisms -7dEg→C and -1195A→g were determined by polymerase chain reaction-based restriction fragment length polymorphism. COX-2 genotypes and haplotypes were analyzed and odds ratios with 95% confidence intervals were estimated by logistic regression. RESULTS： The -765gg genotype was associated with an increased risk of developing CRC （OR, 1.45; 95% CI, 1.03-2.04）. No significant difference was observed in the genotype distribution of the -1195A→g polymorphism between patients and controls. The gg/AC haplotype was present significantly less often in patients than in controls （OR 0.44; 95% CI, 0.22-0.85）. When the AC, Ag and gg haplotypes were investigated separately, the AC haplotype showed a tendency to be less frequent in patients than in controls （OR（Ag/AC） 0.78; 95% CI, 0.57-1.06）. CONCLUSION： The -765gg genotype is associated with an increased risk of developing CRC and the g6/ AC haplotype seems to protect against CRC. These findings suggest a modulating role for the COX-2 polymorphisms -765g→C and -1195A→g in the development of CRC in a Dutch population.

Zero tillage with residues retention and optimizing nitrogen fertilization are important strategies to improve soil quality and wheat （Triticum aestivum L.） yield in rice （Oryza sativa L.）-wheat system. Field experiments were conducted on silty clay soil （Hyperthermic, and Typic Torrilfuvents） in D. I. Khan, Pakistan, to explore the impact of six tillage methods （zero tillage straw retained （ZTsr）, ZT straw burnt （ZTsb）, reduced tillage straw incorporated （RTsi, including tiller and rotavator）, RT straw burnt （RTsb）, conventional tillage straw incorporated （CTsi, including disc plow, tiller, rotavator, and leveling operations）, CT straw burnt （CTsb）） and ifve nitrogen rates, i.e., 0, 100, 150, 200, and 250 kg ha-1 on wheat yield. mean values for N revealed that spikes m-2, grains/spike, 1 000-grain weight （g）, and grain yield （kg ha-1） were signiifcantly higher at 200 kg N ha-1 in both the years as well as mean over years than all other treatments. mean values for tillage revealed that ZTsr produced highest number of spikes m-2 among tillage methods. However, grains/spike, 1 000-grain weight, and grain yield were higher in tillage methods with either straw retained/incorporated than tillage methods with straw burnt. Interaction effects were signiifcant in year 1 and in mean over years regarding spikes m-2, 1 000-grain weight, total soil organic matter （SOm）, and total soil N （TSN）. ZTsr produced the most spikes m-2 and 1 000-grain weight at 200 kg N ha-1. ZTsr also produced higher SOm and TSN at 200-250 kg N ha-1 at the end of 2 yr cropping. Thus ZTsr with 200 kg N ha-1 may be an optimum and sustainable approach to enhance wheat yield and soil quality in rice-wheat system.

Precise evaluation of innerdiameter distribution of open carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is the basis of systematic investigation of physico-chemical processes occurring in nano-sized quasi-1-dimensional carbons. Due to the porosity characteristics and adsorption properties, this study evaluated the innerdiameter and its distribution of carbon nanotubes by analyses of nitrogen cryo-adsorption isotherms, and proved that the gas adsorption method is an effective method to characterize the inner cavity structure in comparison with that of electron microscopy observations and Raman measurements. The advantages of this method are as follows: Firstly, statistical information for innerdiameter distribution of open nanotubes can be obtained; Secondly, the method based on the adsorption process in inner cavities is of importance for investigation of other physico-chemical pro- cesses inside the cavities of carbon nanotubes. And finally, if combining with other characterization methods, complete structural information

High-velocity compaction （HVC） provides an effective means in the field of powder metallurgy （P/m） to reduce the porosity as well as to ameliorate the mechanical properties of products. In this study, the green density of an aluminum alloy is found to be 2.783 g cm 3. The ejection force for the aluminum alloy is in the range of 23 to 80 kN and the spring back is found to be less than 0.40%. The hardness of the green body is in the range of HRB 30 to 70. The bending strength of the green body is in the range of 6 to 26 mPa, which are higher than that of other aluminum alloys prepared by the traditional compaction method.

This study deals with the enhanced solubilization of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons （PAHs） such as phenanthrene （PHE） and fluorene （FLR） in a pure cationic gemini （g6） and three conventional surfactants [polyethylene glycol dodecyl ether （Brij35）, cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide （CRAB） and sodium lauryl sulfate （SDS）] as well as in their equimolar binary combinations （g6-Brij35, g6-CTAB and g6-SDS）. Their solubilization efficiency toward PHE and FLR has been quantified in terms of the molar solubilization ratio （mSR） and the micelle-water partition coefficient （Kin）. The ideality/nonideality of the mixed micelles is discussed with the help of Clint, Rubingh and Rosen＇s approaches. These theories determine the deviation of experimental critical micelle concen- tration （CmC） values from ideal critical micelle concentration, which was measured by evaluating the interaction parameters （/3m and/3）. Negative values ofβm were observed in all the equimolar binary systems, which show synergism in the mixed micelles. Whereas at air/liquid interface synergism was observed in the systems g6-CrAB and g6-Brij35; g6-SDS exhibited an antagonistic effect. The order of mSR and Km was g6-CTAB 〉 g6- Brij35 〉 g6-SDS for phenanthrene as well as for fluorene.
