Th. Smart Grid is an enh.ncement of th. traditional grid system and employs new tech.ologies and soph.sticated communication tech.iques for electrical power transmission and distribution. Th. Smart Grid’s communication network sh.res information about status of its several integrated IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Devices). h.wever, th. IEDs connected th.ough.ut th. Smart Grid, open opportunities for attackers to interfere with.th. communications and utilities resources or take clients’ private data. Th.s development h.s introduced new cyber-security ch.llenges for th. Smart Grid and is a very concerning issue because of emerging cyber-th.eats and security incidents th.t h.ve occurred recently all over th. world. Th. purpose of th.s research.is to detect and mitigate Distributed Denial of Service [DDoS] with.application to th. Electrical Smart Grid System by deploying an optimized Stealth.atch.Secure Network analytics tool. In th.s paper, th. DDoS attack in th. Smart Grid communication networks was modeled using Stealth.atch.tool. Th. simulated network consisted of Secure Network Analytic tools virtual mach.nes (Vms), electrical Grid network communication topology, attackers and Target Vms. Finally, th. experiments and simulations were performed, and th. research.results sh.wed th.t Stealth.atch.analytic tool is very effective in detecting and mitigating DDoS attacks in th. Smart Grid System with.ut causing any blackout or sh.tdown of any internal systems as compared to oth.r tools such.as GNS3, NeSSi2, NISST Framework, OmNeT++, INET Framework, ReaSE, NS2, NS3, m5 Simulator, OPNET, PLC & TIA Portal management Software wh.ch.do not h.ve th. capability to do so. Also, using Stealth.atch.tool to create a security baseline for Smart Grid environment, contributes to risk mitigation and sound security h.giene.

Sb^(3+) doping strategy h.s been proven to be an effective way to regulate th. band gap and improve th. ph.toph.sical properties of organic-inorganic h.brid metal h.lides(OIh.h.).h.wever,th. emission of Sb^(3+) ions in OIh.h. is primarily confined to th. low energy region,resulting in yellow or red *** date,th.re are few reports about green emission of Sb^(3+)-doped ***,we present a novel approach.for regulating th. luminescence of Sb^(3+) ions in 0D C_(10)h.(2)_(2)N_(6)InCl_(7)·h.(2)O via h.drogen bond network,in wh.ch.water molecules act as agents for h.drogen ***^(3+)-doped C_(10)h.(2)2N_(6)InCl_(7)·h.(2)O sh.ws a broadband green emission peaking at 540 nm and a h.gh.ph.toluminescence quantum yield(PLQY)of 80%.It is found th.t th. intense green emission stems from th. radiative recombination of th. self-trapped excitons(STEs).Upon removal of water molecules with.h.at,C_(10)h.(2)_(2)N_(6)In_(1-x)Sb_(x)Cl_(7) generates yellow emis-sion,attributed to th. breaking of th. h.drogen bond network and large structural distortions of excited *** water molecules are adsorbed by C_(10)h.(2)_(2)N_(6)In_(1-x)Sb_(x)Cl_(7),it can subsequently emit green *** water-induced reversible emission switch.ng is successfully used for optical security and information *** findings expand th. under-standing of h.w th. local coordination structure influences th. ph.toph.sical mech.nism in Sb^(3+)-doped metal h.lides and provide a novel meth.d to control th. Connexin 43 (CX43) is one of th. major components of gap junctions, th. structures responsible for th. intercellular communication and transmission of th. electrical impulse in th. left ventricle. Th.re is limited information on th. h.stological ch.nges of CX43 with.age and th.ir effect on electroph.siology, especially in h.mans. h.re, we analyzed left ventricular biopsies from living donors starting at midlife to ch.racterize age-related CX43 remodeling. We assessed its quantity, degree of lateralization, and spatial h.terogeneity togeth.r with.fibrotic deposition. We observed no significant age-related remodeling of CX43. Only spatial h.terogeneity increased sligh.ly with.age, and th.s increase was better explained by biological age th.n by ch.onological age. Importantly, we found th.t CX43 features varied considerably among individuals in our population with.no relevant relationsh.p to age or fibrosis content, in contrast to animal species. We used our experimental results to feed computational models of h.man ventricular electroph.siology and to assess th. effects of interindividual differences in specific features of CX43 and fibrosis on conduction velocity, action potential duration, and arrh.th.ogenicity. We found th.t larger amounts of fibrosis were associated with.th. h.gh.st arrh.th.ic risk, with.th.s risk being increased wh.n fibrosis deposition was combined with.a reduction in CX43 amount and/or with.an increase in CX43 spatial h.terogeneity. Th.se mech.nisms underlying h.gh.arrh.th.ic risk in some individuals were not associated with.age in our study population. In conclusion, our data rule out CX43 remodeling as an age-related arrh.th.ic substrate in th. population beyond midlife, but h.gh.igh. its potential as a proarrh.th.ic factor at th. individual level, especially wh.n combined with.increased fibrosis.

Unequal Distribution of Innovation Efforts for Neglected Tropical Diseases: Th. Role of Funding Evaluation Criteria

Background: International research.and innovation efforts for neglected tropical diseases h.ve increased in recent decades due to disparities in overall h.alth.research.funding in relation to global burden of disease. h.wever, with.n th. field of neglected tropical diseases some seem far more neglected th.n oth.rs. In th.s research.th. aim is to investigate th. distribution of resources and efforts, as well as th. mech.nisms th.t underpin funding allocation for neglected tropical diseases. meth.dology: A systematic literature review was conducted to establish.a compreh.nsive overview of known indicators for innovation efforts related to a wide range of neglected tropical diseases. Articles were selected based on a subjective evaluation of th.ir relevance, th. presence of original data, and th. breadth.of th.ir scope. Th.s was followed by th.rteen in-depth.open-ended interviews with.representatives of private, public and ph.lanth.opic funding organizations, concerning evaluation criteria for funding research.proposals. Results: Th. findings reveal a large difference in th. extent to wh.ch.th. individual diseases are neglected with.notable differences between absolute and relative efforts. Criteria used in th. evaluation of research.proposals relate to potential impact, th. probability of success and strategic fit. Private organizations prioritize strategic fit and economic impact;ph.lanth.opic organizations prioritize sh.rt-term societal impact;and public generally prioritize th. probability of success by accounting for follow-up funding and involvement of industry. Funding decisions of different types of organizations are h.gh.y interrelated. Conclusions: Th.s study sh.ws th.t th. evaluation of funding proposals introduces and retains unequal funding distribution, reinforcing th. relative neglect of diseases. Combinations of metal and lanth.nide oxides h.ve been done th.ough.casted films for potential medical applications. In th.s regard, samarium(Ⅲ) oxide/ch.omium(Ⅲ) oxide/graph.ne oxide(GO)/polycaprolactone(PCL) based films nano-composites(NCs) were fabricated, pointing th.ir utilization as a biological scaffold for wound dressing purposes. Also, samarium(Ⅲ) oxide and ch.omium(Ⅲ) oxide h.ve been merged as promising optical constituents due to th.ir unique optical beh.vior. Th. structural and compositional examination of th. studied NCs was executed by X-ray diffraction(XRD), Raman, and field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEm). Th. Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCL NC exh.bits a surface with.a lower rough.ess degree owing to th. presence of GO. Cr_(2)O_(3)sh.ws size reduction upon GO insertion to reach.1.2 μm as th. average grain size, wh.lst Sm_(2)O_(3)records an average grain size of less th.n 1 μm. As well, th. polymeric nano-compositions exh.bit variation in contact angle values th.t h.t 29.76°± 3.52°for Sm_(2)O_(3)/PCL, and 48.62°± 1.37°for Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCL as th. second lowest contact angle. Th. optical beh.vior contributes to absorption edge relocation along th. x-axis from 1.7 eV for pure PCL, to 2.65 eV for Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCL. Regarding biological responses, th. cell exposed to 2.5 μg/m L of Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCL sh.ws cell viability of 119.31%, wh.le 5 μg/m L h.ts 99.6%. Additionally, th. resulting cell attach.ent micrograph. sh.w layers of fibroblast tissue, besides th. proliferation and growth.of cultivated cells. Th.s, th. Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCL scaffold provides 3D proliferation of fibroblast cells endorsing th. wound h.aling process.
