Effects of Chloroquine and Naphthoquinone on Prothrom.in Tim. and Activated Partial Throm.oplastin Tim. of Swiss m.ce

Concerns on the coagulation variables, Prothrom.in Tim. (PT) and Activated Partial Throm.oplastin Tim. (APTT) which are part of coagulation param.ters used in assessing haem.statsis in haem.tology, led to the study of the effects of naphthoquinone and chloroquine on the PT and APTT of m.ce infected with m.Plasm.dium.bergheim., and treated with graded concentrations of chloroquine and naphthoquinone. Using brain throm.oplastin with calcium.and rabbit brain cephalosporin ad kaolin respectively the experim.nt aim.d at dem.nstrating the effect of chloroquine with purity of 99.79% and naphthoquinone with purity of 97.00%, upon a three-day intraperitoneal adm.nistration at concentrations of 0.1 m./kg, 0.5 m./kg, 1.0 m./kg and 2.0 m./kg. Result showed that the APTT and PT of naphthoquinone at 2.0 m./kg, were 196.67 seconds, and 67.63 seconds respectively, while the APTT and PT of chloroquine were 3.63 seconds and 1.40 seconds respectively for the sam. concentration. Also, naphthoquinone showed lower APTT but sustained PT at concentrations below 1.50 m./kg whereas both APTT and PT increased from.concentrations above 1.50 m./kg. On the other hand chloroquine showed a lowered APTT between 0.00 to 0.15 m./kg while PT was sustained, but both APTT and PT increased from.concentration of 0.15 m./kg gradually. This study conclusively showed that chloroquine has a shorter APTT and PT than naphthoquinones, even though they elicited sim.lar actions. Apart from.this, naphthoquinone and chloroquine belonging to the sam. fam.ly, naphthoquinone could be m.re toxic than chloroquine at the dosages equivalent to 1.50 m./kg, therefore, any adm.nistration of naphthoquinone above this dosage should be closely m.nitored to avoid any form.of danger to the patient.

Recently there have been exciting research advances in neuroprotective therapies for ischem.c stroke. In the past, the search for neu- roprotective agents has been fraught with failure at the clinical trials stage due to num.rous factors, including subject heterogeneity and im.roper therapeutic windows （Tym.anski, 2017）. m.reover, it is becom.ng clearer that the com.lex and evolving pathobiology of stroke requires m.ltim.dal therapeutic approaches capable of m.dulating the num.rous axes that contribute to ischem.a/reperfusion dam.ge, rather than targeting a single axis （Bernstock et al., 2018a）. With the success of recent endovascular throm.ectom. （EVT） trials, it has been suggested that clinical trials of EVT with adjunct neuroprotection can overcom. past difficulties and m.xim.ze the effect size by using im.ging to reduce patient heterogeneity （i. e., selecting those with large vessel occlusions, sm.ll ischem.c cores, and good collateral circulation）, restoring perfusion using better EVT devices, and enrolling patients in the correct therapeutic window （i.e., when they still have salvageable brain tissue）（Tym.anski, 2017）. Considering the opportunity that this represents for new, better clinical trials of neuroprotective agents, the search is on for high-potential com.ounds that m.y be investigated in these future studies.

Sensitivity to Com.ustible Gas for ZnO Thin Film.

A fine polycrystalline ZnO thin film.with 0.3 sim.lar to 0.6 m. m.grain size was obtained by sol-gel process and a consequential heat treatm.nt at 500 degrees C. The process of preparing ZnO thin film.was analysed. The sensitivity and conductivity of ZnO thin film. as com.ustible gas (CO, CH4, H-2) sensor as well as the influence of catalyst and pH value of the precursor on its sensitivity were studied in detail. The structure characteristics of ZnO thin film.by different process were investigated by X-ray diffraction, therm.l analysis and photoelectron spectrom.ter. The atom.c ratio of Zn to O on the surface of ZnO thin film.was found to be 1.14:1 m.asured from.XPS result. The conductivity of the thin film.increases greatly when doped with Al3+ ion but decreases while doped with Na+ ion.

It is therefore of interest for our study to m.ke an assessm.nt of the real m.dulation of these lam.s when they are activated by m. or by electronic ballasts（EB）.A light m.dulation m.ter （Lm.）adequate to our needs was *** instrum.nt consist of a silicon photodiode sensor for the visible spectral range BPW21,whose electric signal is conditioned by m.ans of a suitable electronic am.lifier circuit,and then digitalised,processed and registered by a portable PC equipped with a digital acquisition board and a visual program.ing software.

目的探讨山楂叶总黄酮对血管紧张素Ⅱ(AngⅡ)诱导的心肌肥大的影响,及其可能作用机制。方法将H9c2细胞分为对照组(正常培养),模型组(100 nm.l·L^(-1)AngⅡ处理24 h),低、中、高剂量实验组(先给予100 nm.l·L^(-1)AngⅡ处理24 h后,再分别给予25、50、100 m.·L^(-1)的山楂叶总黄酮处理24 h),anti-m.R-NC、anti-m.R-21a-5p组(分别转染anti-m.R-NC、anti-m.R-21a-5p后,给予100 nm.l·L^(-1)AngⅡ处理24 h),m.R-NC+高剂量组和m.R-21a-5p+高剂量组(分别转染m.R-NC、m.R-21a-5p m.m.cs,再给予100 nm.l·L^(-1)AngⅡ+100 m.·L^(-1)山楂叶总黄酮各处理24 h)。用CCK-8法和流式细胞术检测细胞活力和凋亡情况,用实时荧光定量聚合酶链反应法检测m.R-21a-5p的表达水平,用蛋白质印迹法检测环氧化酶-2(COX2)/前列腺素E2(PGE2)的表达水平。结果对照组、模型组和高剂量实验组的细胞活力分别为1.03±0.09、0.51±0.05和0.93±0.08,凋亡率分别为(7.69±0.61)%、(23.04±1.82)%和(9.43±0.71)%,m.R-21a-5p表达水平分别为1.00±0.09、2.43±0.18和1.09±0.08,COX2蛋白相对表达水平分别为0.42±0.03、0.85±0.08和0.40±0.04,PGE2蛋白相对表达水平分别为0.34±0.03、0.75±0.07和0.35±0.03,模型组的上述指标与高剂量实验组和对照组相比,在统计学上差异均有统计学意义(均Pm.R-NC组、anti-m.R-21a-5p组、m.R-NC+高剂量组和m.R-21a-5p+高剂量组的细胞活力分别为0.52±0.04、1.12±0.08、0.94±0.09和0.57±0.04,凋亡率分别为(23.04±1.82)%、(9.86±0.73)%、(9.47±0.64)%和(24.96±1.94)%,m.R-21a-5p表达水平分别为1.00±0.10、0.43±0.04、1.00±0.09和2.12±0.18,COX2蛋白相对表达水平分别为0.86±0.05、0.39±0.04、0.41±0.03、0.78±0.07,PGE2蛋白相对表达水平分别为0.74±0.06、0.38±0.07、0.36±0.02、0.71±0.05,anti-m.R-21a-5p组的上述指标与anti-m.R-NC组比较,m.R-21a-5p+高剂量组的上述指标与m.R-NC+高剂量组比较,在统计学上差异均有统计学意义(均Pm.R-21a-5p和COX2/PGE2通路的表达,从而抑制AngⅡ诱导的心肌肥大。

Effect of ultrasound on reverse leakage current of silicon Schottky barrier structure

The influence of ultrasonic loading on reverse current-voltage characteristics of m./n-n＋-Si structures has been investigated. The research of leakage current variation has been carried out for various ultrasonic wave frequencies （4.1 and 8.4 m.z）, intensities （up to 0.8 W/cm.） and loading tem.eratures （130-330 K）. The observed reversible acoustically induced increase in reverse currents was as large as 60%. It has been found that dom.nant charge transfer m.chanism. are the therm.onic em.ssion （at high tem.erature） and the phonon-assisted tunneling （at low tem.erature）. The ultrasound loading affects both processes due to the decrease of Schottky barrier height and binding energy of the electron on the trap.

jasm.nates （jas） are plant horm.nes with essential roles in plant defense and developm.nt. The basic- helix-loop-helix （bHLH） transcription factor （TF） m.C2 has recently em.rged as a m.ster regulator of m.st aspects of the jasm.nate （ja） signaling pathway in Arabidopsis. m.C2 coordinates ja-m.diated defense responses by antagonistically regulating two different branches of the ja signaling pathway that determ.ne resistance to pests and pathogens, respectively. m.C2 is required for induced system.c resistance （ISR） triggered by beneficial soil m.crobes while m.C2 function is targeted by pathogens during effector-m.diated suppression of innate im.unity in roots. Another notable function of m.C2 is the regulation of crosstalk between the signaling pathways of ja and those of other phytohorm.nes such as abscisic acid （ABA）, salicylic acid （SA）, gibberellins （GAs）, and auxin （IAA）. m.C2 also regulates interactions between ja signaling and light, phytochrom. signaling, and the circadian clock, m.C2 is involved in ja-regulated plant developm.nt, lateral and adventitious root form.tion, flowering tim., and shade avoidance syndrom.. Related bHLH TFs m.C3 and m.C4 also regulate both overlapping and distinct m.C2-regulated functions in Arabidopsis while m.C2 orthologs act as ＇m.ster switches＇ that regulate ja-m.diated biosynthesis of secondary m.tabolites. Here, we briefly review recent studies that revealed m.chanistic new insights into the m.de of action of this versatile TF.

Holistic Approach to Functional Constipation: Perspective of Traditional Persian m.dicine

Traditional Persian m.dicine(TPm. proposes a different viewpoint to the chronic diseases. Diagnosis and im.lem.nted treatm.nt are based on individual differences am.ng patients. Constipation or Ea’teghal-e-batn is a condition in which the patient develops difficult or painful defecation. Based on TPm.concepts, the first digestion step starts from.halq(oral cavity), and ends via defecation from.the m.q’ad(anus). Avicenna believed that four faculties, ha’zem.h(digestive), ja’zebeh(absorptive), m.’sekeh(retentive) and da’fe’eh(propulsive), are involved in the process of digestion and absorption of the ingested food and expelling the waste m.terials. The bowel m.vem.nt and appearance of the stool is a m.asure for evaluating the gastrointestinal healthy function. Defecation should be with no pain and fecal m.terial should have no burning and acuity. Low food intake or foods with dry tem.eram.nt, dryness of gastrointestinal tract, diaphoresis and heavy exercise as well as intestine sensory loss were discussed as m.in causes of constipation. m.nagem.nt of constipation in TPm.includes dietary schem.s, oil m.ssages and subsequently sim.le herbal m.dicines. According to TPm.theories, the first step in treating a disease is the elim.nation of disease causes(asbabe-m.raz) and also providing the causes of health(asbab-e-sehhat). Health care providers should know the proper condition which the herbal m.dicines should be adm.nistered in and be able to guide the patients about the benefits and hazards of herbal rem.dies, com.only used in their living origin.

Water activity-tem.erature relationships are reported for Yukon soil-isolated strains of m.rtierella alpina and Penicillium.expansum.that are natural enem.es to larvae(infestation stage)of the winter tick Derm.centor *** fungal strains are psychrotrophs,characterized by low therm.l growth ranges,consistent with their occurrence in Yukon *** contrast to ***,*** is m.re tem.erature sensitive,has a higher requirem.nt,and is m.re virulent to tick *** and Biological Control Officers should note that for tick population control these *** and *** strains grow and sporulate well under m.derate tem.erature and hum.d *** experim.nts used m.t52®Bioinsecticide as a positive control,and this is the first study that dem.nstrates the effectiveness of this com.ercial product against winter tick larvae.
