Objectives:This study aimed to test the association between of type and number of D'Amico high-risk criteria(DHRCs)with cancer-specific mortality(CSM)in high-risk prostate cancer patients treated with radical *** and methods:In the Surveillance,Epidemiology,and End Results database(2004–2016),we identified 31,281 radical prostatectomy patients with at least 1 DHRC,namely,prostate-specific antigen(PSA)>20 ng/mL(hrPSA),biopsy Gleason Grade Group(hrGGG)score of 4 and 5,or clinical tumor stage≥T3(hrcT).Multivariable Cox regression models and competing risks regression models(adjusting for other cause mortality)tested the association between DHRCs and 5-year ***:Of 31,281 patients,14,394(67%)exclusively harbored hrGGG,3189(15%)harbored hrPSA,and 1781(8.2%)harbored *** 2132 patients(6.8%)harbored a combination of the 2 DHRCs,and 138(0.6%)had all 3 ***-year CSMrates ranged from 0.9%to 3.0%when any individual DHRC was present(hrcT,hrPSA,and hrGGG,in that order),1.6%to 5.9%when 2 DHRCs were present(hrPSA-hrcT,hrcT-hrGGG,and hrPSA-hrGGG,in that order),and 8.1%when all 3 DHRCs were *** regression models and competing risks regression confirmed the independent predictor status of DHRCs for 5-year CSM that was observed in univariable analyses,with hazard ratios from 1.00 to 2.83 for 1 DHRC,2.35 to 5.88 for combinations of 2 DHRCs,and 7.13 for all 3 ***:Within individual DHRCs,hrcT and hrPSA exhibited weaker effects than hrGGG ***,a dose-response effect was identified according to the number of ***,the type and number of DHRCs allow further risk stratification within the high-risk subgroup.

Corrosion Behavior of AZ31 Magnesium Alloy in Highly Alkaline Environment

Industrial components made with a magnesium-aluminum alloy AZ31 are often used in diverse engineering applications where component weight, strength, and durability are critical. Similarly as other Mg alloys, however, the AZ31 is susceptible to corrosion in alkaline environments. In this work, corrosion of commercial grade AZ31 alloy plate was examined in potassium hydroxide （KOH） using immersion and potentiodynamic studies. The results suggest that the concentration of A1 and Mn in the alloy may govern the kinetics of micro-galvanic corrosion and the initiation of corrosion pits. Further, trace amounts of Ni in the AZ31 alloy were seen to enable formation of Ni（OH）2 surface layer, which may have further accelerated alloy corrosion due to its cracking and void coalescence. The effect of pH on the corrosion behavior of AZ31 was studied with reference to Pourbaix diagrams.

Magnesium(Mg)composites reinforced with carbon-based nanomaterial(CBN)often exhibit low density,enhanced strength,good conductivity,improved wear resistance,and excellent biocompatibility when compared to current industry Mg *** review aims to critically evaluate recent developments in Mg-CBN composites and is divided into five sections:First,a brief introduction to Mg-CBN composites is provided,followed by a discussion of different fabrication techniques for these composites,including powder metallurgy,casting,friction stir processing,and selective laser melting.A particular focus is on the current processing challenges,including dispersion strategies to create homogeneous Mg-CBN *** effect of processing on the quantifying disorder in CBNs and distinguishing different sp2carbon materials is also ***,the effect of CBN on various properties of Mg-CBN composites is thoroughly analyzed,and the strengthening efficiency of CNTs and graphene in the Mg matrix is ***,the potential applications of Mg-CBN composites in various industries are proposed,followed by a summary and suggestions for future research directions in the field of Mg-CBN composites.

Balancing development and conservation needs of stakeholders in the Tusheti Protected Landscape

Public governance and civil society play an important role in the preservation of the environmental and cultural values of the specific region of Tusheti. This area is an interesting study object also due to its unique governing model and different management issues including the historical background of the region and the current growth of tourism. In the region, where there is a significant number of initiatives supported by donors, a management plan for the protected landscape was prepared and put into practice and selected measures were implemented. Our evaluation of the activities was focused on relevance, efficiency, effectiveness,impacts and sustainability of outcomes. On the basis of the formulated conclusions, a few recommendations related to process and system nature, implementation and replicability of approaches are suggested. The results show an increase in tourism in the region,which leads to an improvement in the quality of life of the local population. On the other hand, it represents a threat to natural and cultural values, historical identity and uniqueness. The Management Plan is an excellent platform for stakeholder cooperation and implementation of specific measures to protect this exceptional territory.

A Stochastic Study on the Wicking Phenomena

A stochastic approach based on a 3D 3-state Potts model combined with Monte Carlo simulation was used to study the equilibrium wicking height of liquids in vertical cylindrical capillaries. The Lifshitz-van der Waals and Lewis acid-base theories were adopted to characterize the apolar and polar interactions in the spin system. The evolution of the spin system was driven by the difference in total energy for two successive states. To verify the model, equilibrium wicking height of water, formamide, heptane, and octane in capillaries of different radii were examined and the corresponding computer simulations were implemented. Good agreement was obtained between the simulation and experimental results. It shows the potential of the proposed approach to be applied in this area.

On the experimental characterization of the fluid volume influence on the friction between rough surfaces

The load-bearing behaviour of lubricated contacts depends primarily on the normal force,the relative velocity,and the ***,with the aid of the Stribeck curve,it is usually well possible to characterize whether hydrodynamics,mixed friction,or boundary friction is more likely to be *** fact that the load regime can also depend on the fluid quantity is obvious,but has hardly been systematically investigated so *** for contacts with microscopic roughness,the defined application of a very small amount of fluid is a very challenging *** this paper,a very fundamental study shows how a pin-on-disc tribometer can be used to achieve the transition from dry friction via mixed friction to predominant hydrodynamics by the amount of supplied *** experiments are carried out on samples filed with different *** addition,the simultaneous influence of partial filling and normal force as well as relative velocity is also *** good reproducibility has been practically reached over the entire range of the *** the quantities for the coefficient of friction(COF),it was concluded that close to full filling,a reduction of the fluid quantity has a similar effect on the COF as the reduction of the *** property goes along with the common theory of starved lubricated *** behaviour was not observed to the same extent for the normal *** the vicinity of smaller fluid quantities,the COF increases very rapidly with further reduction in fluid quantity,far more disproportionately than that with reduction in *** a deeper understanding of this problem,various practical issues such as idling or the run-up process in bearings can also be studied in a more focused manner.
