This research aimed to analyze the possibility to estimate and automatically map large areas of soybean cultivation through the use of MODIS(Moderate-Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer)*** major techniques were used:GEOgraphic-Object-Based Image Analysis(GEOBIA)and Data Mining(DM).In order to obtain the images,the segmentation algorithm implemented by definiens developer was used.A decision tree(DT)was created from a training set previously ***-series of images from the MODIS sensor aboard the Terra satellite were acquired in order to represent the wide variation of the vegetation pattern along the soybean crop *** time-series data were used only for the CEI ***,to compare the results obtained from GEOBIA,the slicing technique was used at the CEI *** the training,the DT was applied to the vegetation indices generating the thematic map of the spatial distribution of *** accordance with the error matrix and kappa parameter analysis,tests for statistical significance were *** indicate that the classification achieved by Kappa coefficients is *** short,the obtained results proved that combining vegetation indices and time-series data using GEOBIA return promising results for mapping soybean plantation on a regional scale.

Background： Brazil is among the nations with the greatest rates of annual cocaine usage. Eligible subjects included CAPS-AD patients between 18 and 65 years of age, with an International Classification of Diseases-10 diagnosis of cocaine dependence（F14.2）. The patients were randomly assigned to two treatment groups： psychosocial rehabilitation plus homeopathic Q-potencies of opium and E. coca（homeopathy group）, and psychosocial rehabilitation plus indistinguishable placebo（placebo group）.Main outcome measures： The main outcome measure was the percentage of cocaine-using days. Different culture conditions applied to in vitro shoot multiplication of two Eucalyptus benthamii explant sources

Eucalyptus adult material requires more successive subcultures in the in vitro multiplication phase for increased vigor and cellular activity. This study evaluated the endophytic manifestation and shoot multiplication of one 13-year-old Eucalyptus benthamii clone under different culture conditions and used canopy branches(CB) and trunk base material as explant sources. The culture media were wood plant medium(WPM), Murashige and Skoog medium(MS) and JADS(Correia and co-authors medium).Based on the results of the initial multiplication experiment, further tests examined sucrose concentrations and p H. Morphophysiology, dry mass production, endophyticmanifestation and histochemical were determined. Explant sources responded differently to MS and JADS media, but the WPM medium promoted homogeneous *** responses were similar for both explant sources when sucrose concentrations varied. Shoots died in the absence of sucrose, showed high oxidation at 60 g L-1 and optimal development at 30 g L-1. Endophytes were more evident for shoots from the CB origin. Explant sources responded distinctively to treatment due to physiological and intrinsic genetic factors. Therefore, explant sources, different culture media, sucrose concentration and p H may determine micropropagation success and influence the presence and/or intensity of endophytic manifestation.

Raman Spectroscopy Analysis of Wollastonite/Tricalcium Phosphate Glass-Ceramics after Implantation in Critical Bone defect in Rats

In this work wollastonite/tricalcium phosphate (W/TCP) glass-ceramics with three W/TCP weight ratios (20/80;60/40 and 80/20) were implanted in rat calvaria and the modifications taking place during implantation were studied by Raman spectroscopy. The experimental glass-ceramics were composed of different contents of βW, αW, βTCP, αTCP, and glassy phases. Materials were implanted for 7-, 15-, 45- and 120-day periods after which the implanted materials were recovered and analyzed by FT-Raman spectroscopy. The results suggested that the αW phase reabsorbs fast during implantation in the glass-ceramics 60/40 and 80/20, whereas βTCP and αTCP glass-ceramic are gradually attenuated and replaced by biological apatite-like bands. In the glass-ceramic 20/80, the bands related to the βTCP phase remained unvaried in all analyzed periods. New bands associated with the deposition of collagenous material appeared during implantation for all 60/40 and 80/20 glass-ceramics experimental groups, but important differences in intensities between both groups. The spectra corresponding to implants of 60/40 glass-ceramic at the 120-day period were very similar to those of the control group (normal cortical bone), with regards to Raman shifts and intensities, as well as in the FWHM value of the 962 cm-1 apatite band (ν1 PO4 in hydroxyapatite), evidencing that apatite deposited at the implant site has the same crystallinity than biological apatite in normal bone mineral. The glass-ceramic 20/80 behaved just as an osteoconductive filling material, while glass-ceramics 60/40 and 80/20 were able to induce deposition of organic matrix mineralized new tissue. The 60/40 glass-ceramic showed the best performance and the most similar Raman spectrum to normal cortical bone.

Multivariate Analysis of Extreme Physical, Biological and Chemical Patterns in the Dynamics of Aquatic Ecosystem

This study is a part of the research in monitoring systems of environmental impacts in coastal re-gions in order to develop trophic dynamic models to be used in the aquatic systems management. Meteorological influences in the variability of the nutrients, larvae concentration, dissolved oxygen (DO) and chlorophyll a were investigated in a region where upwelling occurs. Extreme seasonal variations of reanalysis, QuikSCAT, and surface stations from the southeast coast of Brazil, as well as, surface seawater data collected in Anjos Bay, Arraial do Cabo city northeast of Rio de Janeiro state, are analyzed. Seasonality and correlations are applied to verify the relationship between them, considering minimum values of sea surface temperature (SST) and sea level variation and maximum values of the other variables. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Hierarquical Cluster Analysis (HCA) are applied to verify spatial and temporal variances and to describe more clearly the structure of the local ecosystem. The seasonality of northeasterly extreme wind stress follows the seasonal pattern expected for the study area with peaks during spring. The SST has a well-defined seasonal pattern with maximum peaks from February to July and minimum peaks from September to January. Chlorophyll a presents higher seasonal peak in February, being in accordance with DO;both are related to the maximum primary productivity. Correlations of the physical variables (local and remote) with nutrients and larvae present a relatively similar pattern around 0.5, showing these variables have a reasonable interaction with the meteorological forcing. PCA shows a strong variability in pressure data around 0.9, which may be related to the seasonal variations in South Atlantic subtropical anticyclone (SASA) and consequently to the occurrence of upwelling in the region. In vitro antileishmanial effects of Physalis angulata root extract on Leishmania infantum

Objective： In the present study, we evaluated the effects of the aqueous extract of Physalis angulata root （AEPa） on Leishmania infanturn proliferation, morphology, and the driving mechanism in leishmanicidal activity and modulatory action on macrophages. Methods： I., infantum promastigotes were treated with 50 and 100 μg/mL AEPa for 72 h and then antipro- mastigote assay was performed by counts in a Newbauer chamber, morphological changes were analyzed by transmission electron microscopy and the mechanism of the leishmanicidal activity was detected. In addition, macrophages were infected with L. infantum and were used to evaluate anti-amastigote activity of AEPa and effects of AEPa on cytokine secretion after 72-hour treatment. Results： Treatment with AEPa reduced the numbers ofL infantum promastigotes （50% inhibitory concen- tration （ICso） = 65.9μg/mL; selectivity index （SI）= 22.1） and amastigotes （ICso = 37.9 μg/mL; SI = 38.5） compared with the untreated control. Amphotericin B reduced 100% of the promastigote numbers after 72 h of treatment （IC50 = 0.2μg/mL）. AEPa induced several morphological changes and increased the production of reactive oxygen species and apoptotic death in promastigotes after treating for 72 h. AEPa （100 μg/mL） promoted tumor necrosis factor-α secretion in macrophages infected with L. infantum after 72 h of treatment, but did not induce an increase in this cytokine in noninfected macrophages. In addition, AEPa showed no cytotoxic effect on J774-A1 cells （50% cytotoxic concentration 〉1000μg/mL）. Conclusion： AEPa presented antileishmanial activity against the promastigotes and amastigotes of I.. infantum without macrophage cytotoxicity; these results show that natural products such as P. angulata have leishmanicidal potential and in the future may be an alternative treatment for leishmaniasis.

Using Graphics Processing Units to Parallelize the FDK Algorithm for Tomographic Image Reconstruction

The paper presents the implementation of a parallel version of FDK （Felkamp, David e Kress） algorithm using graphics processing units. Discussion was briefly some elements the computed tomographic scan and FDK algorithm; and some ideas about GPUs （Graphics Processing Units） and its use in general purpose computing were presented. The paper shows a computational implementation of FDK algorithm and the process of parallelization of this implementation. Compare the parallel version of the algorithm with the sequential version, used speedup as a performance metric. To evaluate the performance of parallel version, two GPUs, GeForce 9400GT （16 cores） a low capacity GPU and Quadro 2000 （192 cores） a medium capacity GPU was reached speedup of 3.37.
