Evaluation of G3BP1 in the prognosis of acute and acute-on-chronic liver failure after the treatment of artificial liver support system

BACKGROUND The increased expression of G3BP1 was positively correlated with the prognosis of liver failure.AIM To investigate the effect of G3BP1 on the prognosis of acute liver failure(ALF)and acute-on-chronic liver failure(ACLF)after the treatment of artificial liver support system(ALSS).METHODS A total of 244 patients with ALF and ACLF were enrolled in this study.The levels of G3BP1 on admission and at discharge were detected.The validation set of 514 patients was collected to verify the predicted effect of G3BP1 and the viability of prognosis.RESULTS This study was shown that lactate dehydrogenase(LDH),alpha-fetoprotein(AFP)and prothrombin time were closely related to the prognosis of patients.After the ALSS treatment,the patient’amount of decreased G3BP1 index in difference of G3BP1 between the value of discharge and admission(difG3BP1)liver disease high-risk or low-risk group.At the same time,compared with the inflam matory marks[tumor necrosis factor-α,interleukin(IL)-1βand IL-18],G3BP1 had higher discrimination and was more stable in the model analysis and validation set.When combined with AFP and LDH,concordance index was respectively 0.84 and 0.8 in training and validation cohorts.CONCluSION This study indicated that G3BP1 could predict the prognosis of ALF or ACLF patients treated with ALSS.The combination of G3BP1,AFP and LDH could accurately evaluate the disease condition and predict the clinical endpoint of patients.

Association between Serum Ferritin Levels and Metabolic-associated Fatty liver Disease in Adults:a Cross-sectional Study Based on the NHANES

Objective Ferritin,initially acting as an iron-storage protein,was found to be associated with metabolic diseases.Our study was designed to investigate the association between serum ferritin and metabolic-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(NHANES)of the United State of America.Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted,enrolling a total of 2145 participants from the NHANES in the 2017–2018 cycles.Hepatic steatosis and liver fibrosis were assessed by ultrasound images and several non-invasive indexes.Multiple regression analysis was conducted to determine the associations between serum ferritin concentration and MAFLD and liver fibrosis.Results The analysis revealed that participants with higher serum ferritin levels(Q3 and Q4 groups)had a higher prevalence of MAFLD than those with the lowest serum ferritin levels[Q3 vs.Q1:OR=2.17(1.33,3.53),Pliver index(Fli);Q4 vs.Q1:OR=3.13(1.91,5.13),Pli].Additionally,participants with the highest serum ferritin levels(Q4 group)displayed a higher prevalence of liver fibrosis[Q4 vs.Q1:OR=2.59(1.19,5.62),Pliver stiffness measurement;OR=5.06(1.12,22.94),Plusion Our study revealed that elevated serum ferritin levels are associated with a higher prevalence of MAFLD and advanced liver fibrosis in patients.Elevated serum ferritin levels combined with diabetes are important risk factors for liver fibrosis.

A novel topology with controllable wideband baseband impedance for power amplifiers

This paper presents a novel topology to control the baseband impedance of a power amplifier(PA)to avoid performance deterioration in concurrent dual-band mode.This topology can avoid pure resonance of capacitors and inductors LC,which leads to a high impedance at some frequency points.Consequently,it can be applied to transmitters that are excited by broadband signals.In particular,by adjusting the circuit parameters and increasing stages,the impedance of the key frequency bands can be flexibly controlled.A PA is designed to support this design idea.Its saturated output power is around 46.7 dBm,and the drain efficiency is>68.2%(1.8-2.3 GHz).Under concurrent two-tone excitation,the drain efficiency reaches around 40%even under 5.5 dB back-off power with the tone spacing from 10 MHz to 500 MHz.These results demonstrate that the proposed topology is capable of controlling wideband baseband impedance.

Initial costates derived by near-optimal reference sequence and least-squares method

In this paper,we present a novel initial costates solver for initializing time-optimal trajectory problems in relative motion with continuous low thrust.The proposed solver consists of two primary components:training a Multilayer Perceptron(MLP)for generating reference sequence and Time of Flight(TOF)to the target,and deriving a system of linear algebraic equations for obtaining the initial costates.To overcome the challenge of generating training samples for the MLP,the backward generation method is proposed to obtain five different training databases.The training database and sample form are determined by analyzing the input and output correlation using the Pearson correlation coefficient.The best-performing MLP is obtained by analyzing the training results with various hyper-parameter combinations.A reference sequence starting from the initial states is obtained by integrating forward with the near-optimal control vector from the output of MLP.Finally,a system of linear algebraic equations for estimating the initial costates is derived using the reference sequence and the necessary conditions for optimality.Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed initial costates solver improves the convergence ratio and reduce the function calls of the shooting function.Furthermore,Monte-Carlo simulation illustrates that the initial costates solver is applicable to different initial velocities,demonstrating excellent generalization ability.

Dual-assisted high-precision tracking technique for wideband multiplexed signals in new generation GNSS

With the evolution of Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS),new generation GNSS signals have adopted the dual-frequency multiplexing modulation techniques,which jointly modulate multiple signals located on multiple sub-frequencies into a Wideband Multiplexed Signal(WMS).Although WMSs were proposed initially to reduce the complexity of satellite transmitters and improve the transmission efficiency of signals,their multi-component structures and wide root mean square bandwidths introduced by high-frequency subcarriers also provide the possibility to improve the GNSS ranging precision.Therefore,this paper proposes a Dual-assisted Multi-component Tracking(DMT)technique,which can not only fully use high-frequency subcarriers in WMSs,but also effectively track carrier,subcarrier,and code by jointly utilizing all components in WMS.In this paper,the tracking and ranging performances of DMT are comprehensively analyzed theoretically and by simulation and real experiments.The results show that compared with existing WMS tracking methods,DMT can achieve tracking results with lower tracking jitters and ranging results with higher precision,providing a highly advantageous solution for new generation GNSS signal processing.

Laparoscopic vs open surgery for gastric cancer: Assessing time, recovery, complications, and markers

BACKGROUND Gastric cancer(GC)is one of the most common cancers worldwide.Morbidity and mortality have increased in recent years,making it an urgent issue to address.La-paroscopic radical surgery(LRS)is a crucial method for treating patients with GC;However,its influence on tumor markers is still under investigation.The data of 194 patients treated at Chongqing University Cancer Hospital bet-ween January 2018 and January 2019 were retrospectively analyzed.Patients who underwent traditional open surgery and LRS were assigned to the control(n=90)and observation groups(n=104),respectively.Independent sample t-tests andχ2 tests were used to compare the two groups based on clinical efficacy,changes in tumor marker levels after treatment,clinical data,and the incidence of posto-perative complications.To investigate the association between tumor marker levels and clinical efficacy in patients with GC,three-year recurrence rates in the two groups were compared.RESULTS Patients in the observation group had a shorter duration of operation,less in-traoperative blood loss,an earlier postoperative eating time,and a shorter hospital stay than those in the control group(P0.05).After treatment,the overall response rate in the control group was significantly lower than that in the observation group(P=0.001).Furthermore,after treatment,the levels of carbohydrate antigen 19-9,cancer antigen 72-4,carcinoembryonic antigen,and cancer antigen 125 decreased significantly.The observation group also exhibited a significantly lower incidence rate of postoperative complications compared to the control group(P0.05).CONCluSION LRS effectively treats early gastric cancer by reducing intraoperative bleeding,length of hospital stays,and postoperative complications.It also significantly lowers tumor marker levels,

Ambient particle composition and toxicity in 31 major cities in China

Current assessment of air quality or control effectiveness is solely based on particulate matter(PM)mass levels,without considering their toxicity differences in terms of health benefits.Here,we collected a total of 465 automo-bile air conditioning filters from 31 major Chinese cities to study the composition and toxicity of PM at a national scale.Dithiothreitol assay showed that normalized PM toxicity(NIOG)in different Chinese cities varied greatly from the highest 4.99×10^(-3)for Changsha to the lowest 7.72×10^(-4)for Yinchuan.NI0G values were observed to have significant correlations with annual PM_(10) concentration(r=-0.416,p=0.020)and some PM components(total fungi,so.2-and calcium element).The concentrations of different elements and water-soluble ions in PM also varied by several orders of magnitude for 31 cities in China.Endotoxin concentrations in PM analyzed using limulus amebocyte lysate assay ranged from 2.88 EU/mg PM(Hangzhou)to 62.82 EU/mg PM(Shijiazhuang)among 31 Chinese cities.Besides,real-time qPCR revealed 10~100-fold differences in total bacterial and fungal levels among 31 Chinese cities.The concentrations of chemical(water soluble ions and trace elements)and bi-ological(fungi,bacteria and endotoxin)components in PM were found to be significantly correlated with some meteorological factors and gaseous pollutants such as SO_(2).Our results have demonstrated that PM toxicity from 31 major cities varied greatly up to 6.5 times difference;and components such as fungi and SO_(4)^(2-)in PM could play important roles in the observed PM toxicity.The city-specific air pollution control strategy that integrates toxicity factors should be enacted in order to maximize health and economic co-benefits.This work also provides a comprehensive view on the overall PM pollution situation in China.

Electroacupuncture Promotes Functional Recovery after Facial Nerve Injury in Rats by Regulating Autophagy via GDNF and PI3K/m TOR Signaling Pathway

Objective:To explore the mechanism of electroacupuncture(EA) in promoting recovery of the facial function with the involvement of autophagy,glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor(GDNF),and phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase(PI3K)/mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR) signaling pathway.Methods:Seventy-two male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly allocated into the control,sham-operated,facial nerve injury(FNI),EA,EA+3-methyladenine(3-MA),and EA+GDNF antagonist groups using a random number table,with 12 rats in each group.An FNI rat model was established with facial nerve crushing method.EA intervention was conducted at Dicang(ST 4),Jiache(ST 6),Yifeng(SJ 17),and Hegu(li 4) acupoints for 2 weeks.The Simone’s 10-Point Scale was utilized to monitor the recovery of facial function.The histopathological evaluation of facial nerves was performed using hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining.The levels of Beclin-1,light chain 3(LC3),and P62 were detected by immunohistochemistry(IHC),immunofluorescence,and reverse transcriptionpolymerase chain reaction,respectively.Additionally,IHC was also used to detect the levels of GDNF,Rai,PI3K,and mTOR.Results:The facial functional scores were significantly increased in the EA group than the FNI group(Plin sheaths,which were destroyed immediately after the injury,were recovered with EA treatment.The expressions of Beclin-1 and LC3 were significantly elevated and the expression of P62 was markedly reduced in FNI rats(Plusions:EA could promote the recovery of facial function and repair the facial nerve damages in a rat model of FNI.EA may exert this neuroreparative effect through mediating the release of GDNF,activating the PI3

The brittleness of cement composites makes cracks almost inevitable,producing a serious limitation on the lifespan,resilience,and safety of concrete infrastructure.To address this brittleness,self-healing concrete has been developed for regaining its mechanical and durability properties after becoming cracked,thereby promising sustainable development of concrete infrastructure.This paper provides a comprehensive review of the latest developments in self-healing concrete.It begins by summarizing the methods used to evaluate the self-healing efficiency of concrete.Next,it compares strategies for achieving healing concrete.It then discusses the typical approaches for developing self-healing concrete.Finally,critical insights are proposed to guide future studies on the development of novel self-healing concrete.This review will be useful for researchers and practitioners interested in the field of self-healing concrete and its potential to improve the durability,resilience,and safety of concrete infrastructure.

Environmental DNA(eDNA)monitoring,a rapidly advancing technique for assessing biodiversity and ecosystem health,offers a noninvasive approach for detecting and quantifying species from various environmental samples.In this review,a comprehensive overview of current eDNA collection and detection technologies is provided,emphasizing the necessity for standardization and automation in aquatic ecological monitoring.Furthermore,the intricacies of water bodies,from streams to the deep sea,and the associated challenges they pose for eDNA capture and analysis are explored.The paper delineates three primary eDNA survey methods,namely,bringing back water,bringing back filters,and bringing back data,each with specific advantages and constraints in terms of labor,transport,and data acquisition.Additionally,innovations in eDNA sampling equipment,including autonomous drones,subsurface samplers,and in-situ filtration devices,and their applications in monitoring diverse taxa are discussed.Moreover,recent advancements in species-specific detection and eDNA metabarcoding are addressed,highlighting the integration of novel techniques such as CRISPR-Cas and nanopore sequencing that enable precise and rapid detection of biodiversity.The implications of environmental RNA and epigenetic modifications are considered for future applications in providing nuanced ecological data.Lastly,the review stresses the critical role of standardization and automation in enhancing data consistency and comparability for robust long-term biomonitoring.We propose that the amalgamation of these technologies represents a paradigm shift in ecological monitoring,aligning with the urgent call for biodiversity conservation and sustainable management of aquatic ecosystems.
