Comparing different domains of analysis for the characterisation of N-glycans on monoclonal antibodies

With the size of the biopharmaceutical market exponentially increasing,there is an aligned growth in the importance of data-rich analyses,not only to assess drug product safety but also to assist drug development driven by the deeper understanding of structure/function *** monoclonal antibodies,many functions are regulated by N-glycans present in the constant region of the heavy chains and their mechanisms of action are not completely *** importance of their function focuses analytical research efforts on the development of robust,accurate and fast methods to support drug development and quality *** N-glycan analysis is considered as the gold standard for glycosylation characterisation;however,it is not the only method for quantitative analysis of glycoform *** this study,ten different analytical workflows for N-glycan analysis were compared using four monoclonal *** observing good comparability between the quantitative results generated,it was possible to appreciate the advantages and disadvantages of each technique and to summarise all the observations to guide the choice of the most appropriate analytical workflow according to application and the desired depth of data generated.

An accurate staging is necessary to select the best treatment and evaluate prognosis in oncology. Staging usually begins with noninvasive imaging such ascomputed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging or positron emission tomography. In the absence of distant metastases, endoscopic ultrasound plays an important role in the diagnosis and staging of gastrointestinal tumors, being the most accurate modality for localregional staging. Its use for tumor and nodal involvement in pre-surgical evaluation has proven to reduce unnecessary surgeries. The aim of this article is to review the current role of endoscopic ultrasound in the diagnosis and staging of esophageal, gastric and colorectal cancer.

The objective to this work was to evaluate the enzymatic activity in the culture of Solanum lycopersicum *** with Fusarium oxysporum after the combined application of Beauveria bassiana and plant *** lycopersicum plantlets were transplanted 15 days after the *** days after transplanting,Beauveria bassiana spores were applied at a concentration of 1×10^(7)spores mL^(−1)onto soil(along with ***(N)and ***(H)leaf extracts)where *** plants were *** days after transplanting,spores of *** strain were applied at a concentration of 1×10^(6)spores mL^(−1)to soil where *** plants were *** development of *** plants was monitored for 114 days,whereby a randomized complete block treatment design was used,the roots of the plants were crushed with liquid nitrogen,after which UV/VIS spectrophotometry was used to determine protein concentration,as well as the activity ofβ-1,3-glucanases,peroxidases(POX,EC1.***.1.7),catalase and *** treatments combining *** and *** and *** extracts,had a significant difference in enzymatic activity levels,thus contributing to better defense mechanisms and a greater protection to *** plants in the presence of *** application of *** and plant extracts to the ground mitigated damage caused by *** on *** plants.

Insects as alternative feed for ruminants:comparison of protein evaluation methods

Background:The high dependence of intensive ruminant production on soybean meal and the environmental impact of this crop encourage the search for alternative protein-rich *** use of insects seems promising,but the extent of their ruminal protein degradation is largely *** parameter has major influence not only on N utilization efficiency but also on the environmental burden of ruminant *** addition,although assessing ruminal N degradation represents a key first step to examine the potential of new feeds,it is a challenging task due to the lack of a reference *** study was conducted to investigate the potential of 4 insects(Tenebrio molitor,Zophobas morio,Alphitobius diaperinus and Acheta domesticus)as alternative protein sources for ruminants,using 3 methodologies:1)a regression technique based on the in vitro relationship between gas production and ammonia-N concentration;2)a conventional in vitro technique of batch cultures of ruminal microorganisms,based on filtering the incubation residue through sintered glass crucibles;and 3)the in situ nylon bag *** in vitro intestinal digestibility of the non-degraded protein in the rumen was also *** meal was used as a reference ***:Comparison of evaluation methods(regression,in vitro and in situ)did not allow to reliably select a single value of ruminal N degradation for the studied substrates,but all techniques seem to establish a similar ranking,with good correlations between methods,particularly between regression and in situ *** of the methodology,nitrogen from the 4 insects(with contents ranging from 81 to 112 g/kg of dry matter)did not show high ruminal degradation(41–76%),this value being always lower than that of soybean ***,the in vitro intestinal digestibility of non-degraded N was relatively high in all feeds(≥64%).Conclusion:Overall,these results support the potential of the 4 studied insects as alternative feedstu

Eportfolio and Education for Sustainable Development （ESD） Fusion： An Innovation for 21st Century Technology

The purpose of this study is to provide a concrete innovation on how Education for Sustainable Development （ESD） is integrated into higher education using Advanced Educational Statistics as its platform. With this, university faculty, master＇s degree students and administrators can make appropriate strategies to become globally competitive and responsive to the sustainability mantra. A successful innovation has been developed, and found to be relevant and achievable. The key ingredient of this innovation is to utilize statistics as a platform of ESD fused with Multiple intelligences （MI）, Higher-Order Thinking Skills （HOTs） and latest technology. Moreover, this paper used a descriptive-correlation design, which identified the difficulties encountered by the master＇s degree students in making their innovations; then determined the relationship between the attitudes of students toward e-portfolio and their level of fusing ESD in statistics relative to： MI, HOTs and latest technology. Multiple regression analysis was utilized to predict its relationships. This innovation is highly appropriate for multidisciplinary, international students. It connects ESD principles with practice as it enables university＇s effort to contribute to ESD. Big data is a concept that deals with large or complex data sets by using data analysis tools(e.g.,data mining,machine learning)to analyze information extracted from several sources *** data has attracted wide attention from academia,for example,in supporting patients and health professionals by improving the accuracy of decision-making,diagnosis and disease *** research aimed to perform a Bibliometric Performance and Network Analysis(BPNA)supported by a Scoping Review(SR)to depict the strategic themes,thematic evolution structure,main challenges and opportunities related to the concept of big data applied in the healthcare *** this goal in mind,4857 documents from the Web of Science covering the period between 2009 to June 2020 were analyzed with the support of SciMAT *** bibliometric performance showed the number of publications and citations over time,scientific productivity and the geographic distribution of publications and research *** strategic diagram yielded 20 clusters and their relative importance in terms of centrality and *** thematic evolution structure presented the most important themes and how it changes over ***,we presented the main challenges and future opportunities of big data in healthcare.

Cyber Portfolio： The Innovative Menu for 21st Century Technology

Cyber portfolio is a valuable innovative menu for teachers who seek out strategies or methods to integrate technology into their lessons. This paper presents a straightforward preparation on how to innovate a menu that addresses the 21st century skills blended with higher order thinking skills, multiple intelligence, technology and multimedia. Specifically, this cyber portfolio is an administrative tool that manages, organizes, displays and evaluates the e-portfolio of students. Additionally, through cyber portfolio, these e-portfolios or the digitized collection of students" outputs (e. g., text-based, word-processed documents, graphics, videos or multimedia elements, and other e-resources) are easily archived on a Website or other electronic media, such as a CD-ROM (compact disc read only memory) or DVD (digital video disc). With cyber portfolio, teachers can control and easily navigate to the various works of their students as well as track student"s e-portfolio. In short, the cyber portfolio provides teachers with a menu or a set of choices that increase their capabilities in using the latest technology while improving their students" abilities to communicate the value of their work. Moreover, this paper, discusses the "hows" of developing a cyber portfolio as an innovative menu that speeds up the teaching-learning process and blends classroom activities with latest technology available in the Internet. Finally, some conclusions on the effective utilization of cyber portfolio as a public table in showcasing students" individual achievements are also presented.

Cocoa is the main component of *** is widely accepted that cocoa quality largely depends on the processing,especially the fermentation ***,fermentation takes place spontaneously by the endogenous microbiota;however,the process can lead to poor quality and heterogeneity of the final *** this study,we evaluated the influence of the starter culture on the profile of volatiles during fermentation of commercial volumes of Mexican *** were also analyzed in post-fermented cocoa samples obtained after drying,roasting,and *** results revealed a most desirable volatile profile in cocoa fermented with starter culture,mainly due to the higher relative content of alcohols(40%)and aldehydes(3.5%),but also due to a lower acidity(<1%)as compared to endogenous fermentation(acids,65%;alcohols,2%;and aldehydes<0.5%).Additionally,it is remarkable,the higher content of pyrazines in the inoculated samples after processing.

Evidences supporting the vascular etiology of post-double balloon enteroscopy pancreatitis: Study in porcine model

Double balloon enteroscopy(DBE) is an endoscopic technique broadly used to diagnose and treat small bowel diseases. Among the associated complications of the oral DBE, post-procedure pancreatitis has taken the most attention due to its gravity and the thought that it might be associated to the technique itself and anatomical features of the pancreas. However, as the etiology has not been clarified yet, this paper aims to review the published literature and adds new results from a porcine animal model. Biochemical markers, histological sections and the vascular perfusion of the pancreas were monitored in the pig during DBE practice. A reduced perfusion of the pancreas and bowel, the presence of defined hypoxic areas and disseminated necrotic zones were found in the pancreatic tissue of pigs. All these evidences contribute to support a vascular distress as the most likely etiology of the post-DBE pancreatitis.
