Grain texture in barley （Hordeum vulgare L.） is an important quality character. The single nucleotide polymorphisms （SNPs） in Hordoindoline a （hina） gene and its relationship with hardness index among North American harley cultivars were investigated. The hina genes in 36 cultivars were sequenced for the SNP analyses, and 17 sets of SNP primers were designed to detect the SNP variations of hina locus in 92 North American barley cultivars. SNP detection indicated that there were four haplotypes in the hina genes of 92 barley cultivars, and haplotype 01 and 02 were shared by 68 and 14 cultivars, respectively, suggesting that there was a very limited diversity in hina genes among North American barley cultivars. Despite the wide range in hardness exists in 92 barley cultivars, however, unlike wheat, where a clear relationship has been demonstrated between a number of SNPs in the wheat hardness genes and quality （soft or hard wheat）, there was no such relationship for barley. The genotypes used in this study demonstrated that there was a low level of polymorphism in hina gene in North American barley cultivars and these polymorphisms had no impact on grain hardness.

The optimized nitrogen fertilization location differs in different rice-growing regions. We optimized nitrogen deep-point application in root-growing zone（NARZ） for transplanted rice in subtropical China. Field plot experiments were conducted over two years（2014–2015） in a double-rice cropping system to evaluate the effects of nitrogen（N） fertilizer location on grain yield and N use efficiency（NUE）. Four different nitrogen deep-point application methods（DN） were compared with traditional broadcast application（BN） using granular urea. The results showed that grain yield, recovery efficiency of N（REN）, agronomic efficiency of N（AEN）, and partial factor productivity of N（PFP_N） significantly increased 10.3–63.4, 13.7–56.7, 24.7–201.9 and 10.2–63.4%, respectively, in DN treatment compared to BN, respectively. We also find that DN treatments increased grain yield as well as grain N content, and thus grain quality, in comparison with conventional BN treatment. Correlation analysis indicated that significant improvement in grain yield and NUE mainly resulted from increases in productive panicle number and grain N content. In our proposed NARZ method, granular urea should be placed 0 to 5 cm around the rice seeding at a 12-cm depth druing rice transplanting. In NARZ, balanced application of N, P and K further improved grain yield and NUE over treatments with a single N deep-point application. High N uptake by the rice plant did not cause significant soil fertility depletion, demonstrating that this method could guarantee sustainable rice production.

The virulent strain B6 of Curvularia lunata was screened out from 65 fungus strains isolated from the diseased leaves of barnyardgrass （Echinochloa crus-galli）. Greenhouse and field studies were conducted to evaluate the feasibility of the strain being exploited as a mycoherbicide for barnyardgrass control in paddy fields. The results of pathogenicity experiments showed that this strain was highly pathogenic to barnyardgrass at the 1- to 2.5-leaf stages. The fresh weight reduction increased with the increase of inoculated conidial concentrations and the prolongation of dew duration. Strain B6 provided excellent barnyardgrass control when it was applied at the concentration of 1×104-1×106 conidia mL-1 in paddy fields with water layer. This strain was very safe to rice and the most plant species except wheat, barley and corn. Findings of this study indicated that this strain could be a potential mycoherbicide for barnyardgrass control in paddy fields in the future.

The Hina gene is one of the two known Hin genes for hardness, and its RNA expression is correlated with grain hardness and dry matter digestibility variation. In this study, only one clone ofHina gene was obtained from one barley accession. A total of 121 Hina gene sequences were isolated from 121 wild barley （Hordeum spontaneum） accessions in Israel, Iran, and Turkey, and then their molecular characteristics were compared with 97 Hina gene sequences from 74 cultivated barley （H. vulgare） lines in Europe and 23 landrace （H. vulgare） with global distribution and other 26 Hina gene sequences from cultivated barleys （H. vulgare） with unknown global distribution. Cis-acting regulatory element （CARE） searching revealed that there were different types of regulatory element for the Hina gene in wild and landrace/cultivated barleys. There were six consistent cis-acting binding sites in wild and landrace/cultivated barleys, whereas 8 to 16 inconsistent TATA-boxes were observed. In addition, three special elements （E2Fb, Spl, and boxS） were only observed in wild barley, while one （AT1-motif） was only found in landrace/cultivated barley. Forty-four deduced amino acid sequences of HINA from wild and landrace/cultivated barleys were obtained by deleting repetitive amino acid sequences, and they were clustered into two groups on the basis of Neighbor-Joining analysis. However, there was no obvious difference in the amino acid sequences of HINA between wild and landrace/cultivated barleys. Comparing to protein secondary structure of wheat PINA, it was indicated that HINA also existed a signal peptide. In addition, HINA was a hydrophilic protein on the basis of the protein properties and composition.

固体氧化物燃料电池技术已历经近150年的发展史,但目前仍在努力步入市场化进程中。过高的工作温度[氧化钇稳定的氧化锆(YSZ)基>800℃]是限制其商业化推广的主要原因,而研发低温电解质是降低其工作温度的关键步骤。本研究通过第一性原理计算,报道了一种中低温(200~600℃)基质子传输电解质li_(14)Zn(GeO_4)_4(LZG),建立了质子在LZG内传输分子动力学模型。通过理论模拟,提出LZG为中低温基锂离子/质子混合传导电解质,质子经锂离子/质子交换机制,通过LZG内存在的锂离子空位而引入,并模拟了质子与锂离子在锂离子空位的传导机制。进一步通过计算得出,质子在LZG电解质内部以较高的离子迁移系数通过锂离子空位进行传输,并得到不同位点锂离子与质子迁移系数随温度变化曲线。最后给出不同离子在LZG电解质内迁移的电子态密度。本研究为新型电解质的研发提供了理论指导,有益于将固体氧化物燃料电池(SOFCs)工作温度从中高温区(>600℃)向中低温区(200~600℃)推进。

Glioblastoma multiforme （GBM） is the most common primary malignant brain tumor in adults, which accounts for approximately 50% of all gliomas. Its prognosis is particularly disappointing with a median life expectancy less than a year even when the patients are treated with the most aggressive regimens. Over the past 10 years, a number of trials have tried to establish whether adjuvant chemotherapy, as well as molecularly targeted therapy, provides GBM patients with clinically meaningful benefits.

Objective Radix of Actinidiae chinensis,a medicinal plant used in China,is the dry root of Actini-diaceae plant and has been extensively employed to treat cancers of various organs,including the lung,liver and digestive ***,up to now,its active antitumor and antiviral fractions remain *** main purpose of this study is to identify the antitumor and antiviral sites of Radix of Actinidiae chinensis,which provides evidences for its further *** Radix of Actinidiae chinensis was extracted by the refluxing sequentially with acetidin,ethanol and water,followed by the column chromatography and thin layer *** antitumor effects on Bel-7402,SW-620 and MDA-MB-231 tumor cells were investigated to screen the active antitumor sites by cell inhibition,the growth curve and the apoptosis ***,to screen the active anti-hepatovirus fractions,the cell growth and the secretion of HBsAg and HBeAg in HepG2.2.15 cells were evaluated by the MTT test and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay *** The acetidin fraction Y(Y1+Y2),the ethanol fraction A(A1+A3+A4) and B(A1+A4+A6),and the fraction compound C(A1+A4+Y1) have strong inhibitive effects on Bel-7402,SW-620 and MDA-MB-231 tumor cell ***,the tumor cell apoptosis could be induced by the ethanol fraction B and the fraction compound *** HepG2.2.15 cells,the treatment indexes of the acetidin fraction Y,the ethanol fraction A and the fraction compound C all exceeded 2 on the secretion of HBsAg,indicating the suppre-ssive effects of them on hepatitis B *** fraction yields of A,B and C exceeded 50%(60.28%,54.35% and 62.64% respectively),while that of Y did not(17.7%).Conclusion The ethanol fraction B and the fraction compound C are the antitumor sites of Actinidiae chinensis Radix,while the ethanol fraction A and the fraction compound C are its antiviral sites.

Measurement of Optic Axis Direction Based on Interference Fringe Method

In order to conquer the defect in low precision and small range for measuring optic axial angle based on conoscopic interference method, interference fringe method is proposed. It is not the distance deviating from melatope but fringe numbers to decide optic axial angle. Fringe numbers are divided into integer portion and decimal fraction portion, the decimal fraction portion is calculated by non-linear interpolation method and integer portion is determined by the relative placement of interference fringes in the principal section. Extremum arithmetic of digit image is proposed and can be used to determine the interference fringes conveniently and precisely. After different niobate crystals were measured, the result shows that measurement range of optic axial angle is increased efficiently and measurement error is reduced to 0.1°.
