Osteoporosis is characterized by low bone mass and microarchitecture deterioration of bone tissue, leading to enhanced bone fragility and consequent increase in fracture risk. Evidence is accumulating for an important role of calcium deficiency as the process of aging is associated with disturbed calcium balance. Vitamin D is the principal factor that maintains calcium homeostasis. Increasing evidence indicates that the reason for disturbed calcium balance with age is inadequate vitamin D levels in the elderly. In this article, an overview of our current understanding of vitamin D, its metabolism, and mechanisms involved in vitamin D-mediated maintenance of calcium homeostasis is presented. In addition, mechanisms involved in age-related dysregulation of 1,25（OH）2D3 action, recommended daily doses of vitamin D and calcium, and the use of vitamin D analogs for the treatment of osteoporosis （which remains controversial） are reviewed. Elucidation of the molecular pathways of vitamin D action and modifications that occur with aging will be an active area of future research that has the potential to reveal new therapeutic strategies to maintain calcium balance.

Bilateral visual impairment has important impacts on health-related quality of life and its physical and psychological consequences are proposed to be comparable to other important chronic medical illnesses . Therefore in monocular patients, an unsuccessful surgical intervention that might lead to permanent visual loss would have some negative reflections on life quality of the patient.

In order to prepare a specific melanocortin type 2 receptor (MC2R) ligand, β1-24-corticotrophin was prepared in one-step reaction with [18F] SFB and β-1-24-corticotrophin pharmaceutical solution (1 mg/mL, pH=6.5). [18F]SFB was prepared in a semi-automated module in two steps with an overall radiochemical yield of 47% to EOB (not-decay corrected) in 90 min. The 18F-labeled intermediates and 18F-labeled peptide was checked by RTLC and HPLC. The results show that the radiochemical purity is >95% and the yield to EOB (not-decay corrected) is 29% for final 18F-labeled peptide at optimized conditions. Preliminary in vivo studies in normal mice were performed to determine biodistribution of the 18F-labeled peptide for 150 min. The results show that the major tracer uptake is consistent with the natural distribution of MC2R receptors in mammals. Testes/blood and testes/muscle ratios for 18F-labeled peptide at 150 min were 184 and 1.56, respectively, and adipocyte/blood and adipocyte/muscle ratios at 120 min were 221 and 142, respectively. The data support the specific receptor binding of the radiolabeled peptide as reported for MC2R receptor accumulation in adipocytes and testes and demonstrates the retention of biological activity of the peptide. This tracer can be used in detection of MC2R distribution in malignancies and sex organ diseases.

Background: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is increasingly occurring in sedentary people, and may progress to NASH and hepatocellular carcinoma. It is essential to design affordable animal models for the study of various diseases, including fatty liver, which was the aim of the study. In this study, a high-fat diet was devised that triggers NASH’s animal model quickly and easily. High-fat diet(HFD) was used both with intra-mouth oral gavage and in combination with animal ***: Twenty-four male C57 BL/6 J mice were divided into HFD and ND groups, which received a high-fat diet and a normal diet, respectively. At the end of the experiment(fourth week of treatment), body and liver weights, biochemical parameters, PPAR-α gene expression and histopathologic characteristics of the liver were ***: During 4 weeks, body weight of mice did not show a significant increase in the HFD group compared to the ND group, while weight gain of the liver was significant. Histological assessment of the HFD group’s liver confirmed NASH symptoms. In the HFD group, HDL-c, SOD, catalase, FRAP, adiponectin, and PPAR-α decreased significantly, and lipid profiles, hepatic enzymes, MDA, leptin, and TNF-α showed a significant increase compared to the ND ***: Our high-fat diet has successfully induced all aspects of NASH with fibrosis in 4 weeks, and with low cost.

Objective:To conduct for modeling spatial distribution of malaria transmission in Iran. Methods:Records of all malaria cases from the period 2008-2010 in Iran were retrieved for malaria control ***&*** data including annual rainfall,maximum and minimum temperature,relative humidity,altitude,demographic,districts border shapefiles. and NDVI images received from Iranian Climalologic Research *** arranged in ArcCIS. Results:Results:99.65%of malaria transmission cases were focused in southeast part of Iran. These transmissions had statistically correlation with altitude(650 m),maximum(30℃),minimum (20℃) and average temperature(25.3℃).Statistical correlation and overall relationship between NDVI(118.81),relative humidity(≥45%) and rainfall in southeast area was defined and explained in this ***:According to ecological condition and mentioned cut-off points, predictive map was generated using rokriging method.

A study was performed to estimate the prevalence of the external bacterial flora of two domestic cockroaches （Blattella germanica and Blatta orientalis） collected from households in Tebessa （northeast AIgeria）.Three major bacterial groups were cultured （total aerobic, enterobacteria, and staphylococci） from 14 specimens of cockroaches, and antibiotic susceptibility was tested for both Staphylococcus and Pseudomonas isolates. Culturing showed that the total bacterial load of cockroaches from different households were comparable （P〈0.001） and enterobacteria were the predominant colonizers of the insect surface, with a bacterial load of （2.1×10^5 CFU/insect）, whereas the staphylococci group was the minority. Twenty-eight bacterial species were isolated, and susceptibility patterns showed that most of the staphylococci isolates were highly susceptible to chloramphenicol, gentamycin, pristinamycin, ofloxacin, clindamycin, and vancomycin; however, Pseudomonas strains exhibited resistance to amoxicillin/clavulanic acid, imipenem, and the second-generation antibiotic cephalosporin cefuroxime.

The present paper is aimed to study the effect of gaussian laser light on first and second sound waves in superfluid helium theoretically using optoacoustic method. The mechanism applied in this study is electrostriction mechanism. This study considers crystal parts of superfluid helium with a zero absorption coefficient applying electrostriction mechanism. Affecting gaussian laser light on these crystal parts, a spectrum of cylindrical first and second sound waves and cylindrical slow and rapid waves is obtained. Meanwhile, frequency of waves amplitudes proportionate to time period of laser light is calculated.
