Raman probing of carbon electrode and electrolyte under dynamic conditions is performed here using different aqueous electrolytes to elucidate the fundamental events occurring in electrochemical supercapacitor during charge–discharge *** areal capacitance ranges from 1.54 to 2.31μF cm^(-2)μm.a.d it is determined using different *** findings indicate that the Helmholtz capacitance governs the overall charge-storage process instead of the space charge(quantum)capacitance commonly verified for HOPG electrodes in the range of~3 to 7μF cm^(-2).molecular dynamics simulations are employed to elucidate the origin of the reversible Raman spectral changes during the charge–discharge processes.A correlation is verified between the reversible Raman shift and the surface excesses of the different ionic species.A theoretical framework is presented to relate the effect of the applied potential on the Raman shift and its correlation with the surface ionic *** is proposed that the Raman shift is governed by the interaction of solvated cations with graphite promoted by polarization *** is the first time that a com.a.ative study on different aqueous electrolyte p H and cation ion size has been performed tracking the Raman spectra change under dynamic polarization conditions and contrasting with comprehensive electrochemistry and dynamic molecular simulations *** study shines lights onto the charge-storage mechanism with evidence of Kohn anomaly reduction in the carbon electrode during the reversible adsorption/desorption and insertion/extraction of ionic species.

We propose to use the low-coherence property of amplified spontaneous emission(ASE) noise to mitigate optical crosstalk, such as spatial, polarization, and modal crosstalk, which currently limits the density of photonic integration and fibers for dense space-division multiplexing. High optical crosstalk tolerance can be achieved by ASE-based low-coherence matched detection, which avoids dedicated optical lasers and uses spectrally filtered ASE noise as the signal carrier and as a matched local oscillator. We experimentally demonstrate spatial and modal crosstalk reduction in multimode fiber(mmF) and realize mode-and wavelength-multiplexed transmission over1.5-km mmF supporting three spatial modes using a single ASE source. Performance degradation due to model dispersion over mmF is experimentally investigated.

Cooling performance of earth-to-air heat exchangers applied to a poultry barn in semi-desert areas of south Iraq

Earth-to-air heat exchangers(EAHE)can reduce the energy consumption required for heating and cooling of *** composition and the thermal characteristics of the soil influence the heat exchange capacity,and the soil moisture can furthermore affect thermal performance of *** aim of this study was to com.a.e the thermal performance of EAHE in dry and artificially wetted *** were carried out in the Basra Province(Iraq),in a semi-desert *** experimental EAHE were built in a poultry barn and tested from June 2013 to September *** pipe exchangers were buried at 2 m *** heat exchanger operated in dry soil(DE),while the other one operated in artificially wetted soil(WE).In the WE system.a.drip tubing placed 10 cm.a.ove the air pipe wetted the soil around the *** temperatures at the inlet and at the outlet of both the exchangers as well as soil temperature at 2 m deep were continuously *** experimental results confirmed that wetting the soil around EAHE improves the general heat exchange *** coefficient of cooling performance(COP)of the earth-to-air heat exchangers system was evaluated on the basis of the ratio between the heat removed from the air or added to the air and the energy *** the day,with an average COP of 6.41,the WE system cooled the air more than the DE system,which reported a value of *** average,in the hottest hours of the day,the outlet temperature of the WE was 37.35℃ while in the DE it was 38.91℃.moreover,during the nighttime,the WE system warmed the air more than the DE system.

BACKGROUND Oxidative damage of DNA and RNA has been associated with mortality of patients with different ***,there is no published data on the potential use of DNA and RNA oxidative damage to predict the prognosis of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)undergoing liver transplantation(LT).AIm To determine whether patients with increased DNA and RNA oxidative damage prior to LT for HCC have a poor LT *** Patients with HCC who underwent LT were included in this observational and retrospective *** levels of all three oxidized guanine species(OGS)were m.a.ured prior to LT since guanine is the nucleobase that forms DNA and RNA most prone to *** mortality at 1 year was the end-point *** Surviving patients(n=101)showed lower serum OGS levels(P=0.01)and lower age of the liver donor(P=0.03)than non-surviving patients(n=13).An association between serum OGS levels prior to LT and 1-year LT(odds ratio=2.079;95%confidence interval=1.356-3.189;P=0.001)was found in the logistic regression *** The main new finding was that high serum OGS concentration prior to LT was associated with the mortality 1 year after LT in HCC patients.

In this paper,the influence of oxidation of automatic transmission fluids(ATFs)and sliding distance on the friction coefficients of a wet clutch in approached running-in conditions was *** ATFs were oxidized by a laboratory process approaching oxidation occurred in actual *** was evaluated by m.a.s of increase in carbonyl compounds and depletion of zinc dialkyldithiophosphates(ZDDPs)***,the changes in kinematic viscosity and viscosity index were ***-ondisk tests were conducted to replicate the actual sliding contact in a wet *** pin specimens were cut from friction material composite plates and the disks were actual steel separators both from.a. automotive wet *** coefficient, μ,was m.a.ured at progressive sliding velocity,ν,to obtain μ–νcurves at 26 and 100°*** μ–νtests were consecutively run using the same pair of specimens and *** cumulative sliding distance for each μ–νtest generated surface flattening using the *** friction coefficients of the wet clutch increased due to the ATFs oxidation m.a.while the dm/dv values decreased in most *** suggests that ATF oxidation can enhance torque capacity of the wet clutch,but it could reduce anti-shudder *** sliding distance improved the slopes in the μ–νresults using fresh ATFs m.a.while it generated a slope decrease by using aged ATFs.

INTRODUCTION Plant exudates are a common,yet often overlooked food source eaten by 94 mam.a.ian species spread across 6 orders(Nash&Burrows 2010;Cabana et al.2018).However,exudates(including gums,resins,and latex,defined following Cabana et al.2018)contain large amounts of non-digestible carbohydrates and plant secondary metabolites,posing challenges for mam.a.s exploiting this resource(Power 2010).Due to the difficulty of gaining nutrition from exudates,they are not considered a high-quality food source,despite the number of species that consume them(Power 2010;Cabana et al.2018).

Trace elements, isotopic modeling and U-Th-Pb SHRImP zircon age constraints are used to reconstruct the eruption history and magmatic processes of the Piedra Parada Caldera. In the early Eocene, the crystal-poor Barda Colorada ignimbrite(BCI), having >>15% micro-porphyritic crystals with respect to magmatic components, erupted a volume estimated in more than 300 km^3. The Piedra Parada caldera is located in the Patagonian Andes foreland, at the southern end of the calderas field of the Pilcaniyeu Volcanic Belt(PVB). This belt is related to an extensional tectonic setting as a result of the collision of the Farallon-Aluk ridge with South America, which enabled the development of a transform ocean/continental plate margin followed by the detachment of the Aluk plate and the opening of a slab window. The BCI extra-caldera Plateau is a >100 m thick deposit, having a lower unit with high silica(Si O_2> 76 wt.%),potassium poor rhyolitic composition(trondhjemitic like magma), and an upper unit with normal to high potassium rhyolitic composition(granitic like magma). A trace elements modeling of the BCI units shows that the BCI lower and upper units did not evolve from fractionation or immiscibility in the shallow magma reservoir. The BCI also have a primitive isotopic signature(initial87 Sr/86 Sr =0.7031-0.7049 and ε_(Nd)= +3.4 to +3.65). Thus, tectonic, compositional and isotopic constraints suggest the fast ascent of high silica magmas to a shallow reservoir, and point to an upper mantle origin for these rhyolitic magmas in a transitional(Orogenic-Anorogenic) tectono-magmatic setting. U-Th-Pb SHRImP zircon crystallization ages of the Syn-caldera stage BCI units(56 -51.5 ma) show a protracted life of 5 ma for this caldera reservoir. The age of 52.9 ± 0.3 ma is considered the best fit for the possible maximum.a.e for the caldera collapse.
