Increasing global energy consumption has become an urgent problem as natural energy sources such as oil,gas,and uranium are rapidly running *** into renewable energy sources such as solar energy is being pursued to counter *** energy is one of the most promising renewable energy sources,as it has the potential to meet the world’s energy needs *** study aims to develop and evaluate artificial intelligence(AI)models for predicting hourly global *** hyperparameters were optimized using the Broyden-FletcherGoldfarb-Shanno(BFGS)quasi-Newton training algorithm and STATISTICA *** from two stations in Algeria with different climatic zones were used to develop the *** error measurements were used to determine the accuracy of the prediction models,including the correlation coefficient,the mean absolute error,and the root mean square error(RMSE).The optimal support vector machine(SVM)model showed exceptional efficiency during the training phase,with a high correlation coefficient(R=0.99)and a low mean absolute error(MAE=26.5741 Wh/m^(2)),as well as an RMSE of 38.7045 Wh/m^(2) across all ***,this study highlights the importance of accurate prediction models in the renewable energy,which can contribute to better energy management and planning.

It was an unusually quiet night duty. I started at midnight on a cold winter night. My colleague handed me two cases to follow up—one was an asthmatic patient, who was discharged after two hours, and the other was a patient with renal colic, who became better with analgesia. Five hours passed without any patient knocking at the door. I thought it might be the cold that made people prefer to stay at home rather than coming to hospital.

Optimal ways of disposal of highly radioactive waste

Multibarrier concepts are commonly proposed for effective isolation of highly radioactive waste (HLW). Present concepts consider the host rock as a barrier by retarding migration of possibly released radionuclides to the biosphere, containers for preventing release of radionuclides, and “buffer clay” embedding the canisters for providing ductility and minimizing the risk of container breakage and for delaying migration of possibly escaping radionuclides. Closer analysis of the isolating functions shows that rock will only serve as a mechanical protection of the “nearfield”, the containers of proposed types can be short-lived, and the surrounding clay will be increasingly permeable and stiffen hence becoming less ductile with time. A different approach, representing an alternative to the common concepts, can be safer and cheaper. It takes the HIPOW copper canister as the only major barrier and a cheap but sufficiently efficient buffer as embedment. The repository can consist of an abandoned copper mine, an option being to place HLW in emptied drifts while mining is still going in not yet exploited parts of the ore body.

Analysis of Nuclear Track Parameters of CN-85 Detector Irradiated to Thermal Neutrons by Using MATLAB Program

CN-85 detector which covered with boric acid H3Bo3 pellete has been irradiated by thermal neutrons from (241Am-9Be) source with activity 12 Ci and neutron flux 105 n. cm-2. s-1. The irradiation times-TD for detector were 4 h, 8 h, 16 h and 24 h. The track detector has been etched with sodium hydroxide. After chemical etching of the irradiated CN-85 detector, the images have been taken from a digital camera connected to the optical microscope. Image processing for the output images has been performed using MATALB program, and these images were analyzed and we had found the following relations: a) The relation between summation of opened track or surface density for tracks (intensity-IT) varies with radius of opening (track radius-RT). b) The relation between the tracks number-NT varies with the tracks diameter-DT (in micrometer) and tracks area-AT. That analysis of image processing was obtained, and the track intensity-IT was decreased with increase of track radius-RT at all of the irradiation time-TD. And the track intensity-IT was increased with increasing irradiation time-TD (h) for different track radius-RT (0.4225, 0.845, 1.2675 and 1.69 μm). The study indicates the possibility of using the analysis of image processing to CN-85 detector for classification of α-particle emitters through limitation of radius of track-RT, in addition to the contribution of these techniques in preparation of nano-filters and nono-membrane in nanotechnology fields.

Estimation of Natural Radioactivity of Some Medicinal or Herbal Plants Used in Iraq

Nine medicinal or herbal plants used in Iraq were analyzed to determine natural radioactivity. The radionuclides were determined by Gross alpha, beta and gamma spectrometry Proportional counter + NaI(Tl) detector type(XLB5) and gamma-ray spectroscopy with (HPGe) techniques. The activity concentration of 40k ranged from 124.1 Bq/kg in (Crust sample) to 88.3 Bq/kg in (Chamomile sample), for gross alpha ranged from (N.D.) in (Flax sample) to 0.4 cpm in (Anise sample), while for beta ranged from 5.7 cpm in (Flax sample) to 25.6 cpm in (Latency sample) and for gamma ranged from 0.6 cpm in (Thyme sample) to 5.10 cpm in (Coriander and Flax samples).

Spatiotemporal variability of fish assemblage in the Shatt Al-Arab River,Iraq

Objective:To study spatial and temporal variability of fish assemblage in the Shatt Al-Arab ***:This study was conducted from December 2011 to November *** temperature,salinity,dissolved oxygen and transparency were measured from three sites in the *** fishing methods were adopted to collect fish including gill nets,cast net,electro-fishing and hook and *** between the distribution of fish species and the environmental variables were quantified by using canonical correspondence ***:The results showed that the fish assemblage consisted of 58 species representing 46 genera and 27 families belong to Osteichthyes except one(Carcharhinus leucas)relate to *** of species increased in summer and autumn months and sharply decreased in *** ilisha was the most abundant species comprising 27.4%of the catch,followed by Carassius auratus(23.7%)and Liza klunzingeri(10.6%).The dominance(D_(3))value for the main three abundant species was 61.7%.Nine species were caught for the first times from the river include eight *** overall values of diversity index ranged from 0.67 in March to 2.57 in October,richness index from 2.64 in January to 3.71 in September and evenness index from 0.22 in March to 0.73 in ***:Spatially,the fish assemblages of Shatt Al-Arab River can be divided into three ecological fish guilds,namely,common species,seasonal species and occasional species.

Study the Attenuation Coefficient of Granite to Use It as Shields against Gamma Ray

The present work investigates the linear and mass attenuation coefficients for gamma rays practically and theoretically by using spectroscopy gamma ray (UCS-20) and program (XCOM)) for various types of common use granite, and compares them with the lead because of its high blocking ability for this type of radiation. This paper concluded through linear and mass attenuation coefficients measurements that these coefficients decrease with increasing incident photons energy. Measurements also showed that the linear attenuation coefficients appropriate linearly with density while mass attenuation coefficients do not get affected.

Outcomes in patients with COVID-19 and new onset heart blocks: Insight from the National Inpatient Sample database

BACkGROUND Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)has resulted in a worldwide health crisis since it first *** studies demonstrated the virus’s predilection to cardiomyocytes;however,the effects that COVID-19 has on the cardiac conduc-tion system still need to be fully *** To analyze the impact that COVID-19 has on the odds of major cardiovascular complications in patients with new onset heart blocks or bundle branch blocks(BBB).METHODS The 2020 National Inpatient Sample(NIS)database was used to identify patients admitted for COVID-19 pneumonia with and without high-degree atrioven-tricular blocks(HDAVB)and right or left BBB utilizing ICD-10 *** patients with pre-existing pacemakers,suggestive of a prior diagnosis of HDAVB or BBB,were excluded from the *** primary outcome was inpatient *** outcomes included total hospital charges(THC),the length of hospital stay(LOS),and other major cardiac outcomes detailed in the Results *** and multivariate regression analyses were used to adjust for confounders with Stata version *** A total of 1058815 COVID-19 hospitalizations were identified within the 2020 NIS database,of which 3210(0.4%)and 17365(1.6%)patients were newly diagnosed with HDAVB and BBB,*** observed a significantly higher odds of in-hospital mortality,cardiac arrest,cardiogenic shock,sepsis,arrythmias,and acute kidney injury in the COVID-19 and HDAVB *** was no statistically significant difference in the odds of cerebral infarction or pulmonary *** with COVID-19 pneumonia and newly diagnosed BBB had a higher odds of arrythmias,acute kidney injury,sepsis,need for mechanical ventilation,and cardiogenic shock than those without ***,unlike HDAVB,COVID-19 pneumonia and BBB had no significant impact on mortality compared to patients without *** In conclusion,there is a sign

Hematologic Characteristics of Patients with Active Pulmonary, Extra-Pulmonary and Disseminated Tuberculosis: A Study of over Six Hundred Patients

Background: Many inflammatory cells, cytokines, acute phase reactants as well as platelets are recruited in the battle against the invading mycobacterium. As a result, alterations in the hematologic profile of infected patients are anticipated. Objectives: The primary objective was to investigate the various hematologic characteristics of patients with active tuberculosis. The secondary objective was to study the correlation between such hematologic characteristics and the type of tuberculosis including pulmonary, extra-pulmonary, and disseminated. Methods: This was a retrospective, descriptive study investigating the hematological findings in adult patients (aged 18 years or older) with active, bacteriologically-confirmed tuberculosis infection. Results: Among the 605 confirmed active tuberculosis cases, 465 (78.8%) were pulmonary, 104 (17.6%) extra-pulmonary, and 21 (3.6%) disseminated type. The mean age at diagnosis was 33.4 ± 11.4 years and males constituted 80.2% of cases. Peripheral leukocytosis was observed in 177 (30.1%) and leukopenia in 7 (1.2%) (Pulmonary type of tuberculosis was significantly associated with leukocytosis (P = 0.000)). Neutrophilia, lymphocytosis, monocytosis, eosinophilia, and basophilia were observed in 15.3%, 3.1%, 10.4%, 6.3% and 4.7% respectively. Thrombocytopenia and thrombocytosis were observed in 3.9% and 26.7% respectively. Anemia was observed in 44.8% of all cases with 4.4% had severe anemia and 60.3% had anemia of chronic diseases. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate was high in 77.2% of cases and ≥100 mm/hr in 5%. C-reactive protein was high in 93.4% and it exceeded 40 mg/L in 69.3%. Conclusion: There is a wide range of variability in the leukocyte and differential leukocyte abnormalities observed in patients with active tuberculosis. Leukocytosis can be seen in one-third of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. Anemia of chronic diseases is the most common type of anemia observed in tuberculosis
