摘      要：It was an unusually quiet night duty. I started at midnight on a cold winter night. My colleague handed me two cases to follow up—one was an asthmatic patient, who was discharged after two hours, and the other was a patient with renal colic, who became better with analgesia. Five hours passed without any patient knocking at the door. I thought it might be the cold that made people prefer to stay at home rather than coming to hospital.
