The resolution of inflammation is an active process,guided by specialized proresolution lipid mediators(sPMs).These mediators originate from polyunsaturated fatty acids,such as *** evidence suggests that the beneficial effects attributed to omega-3 are,at least in part,the result of the immunomodulatory action of the sPMs,which act systemically by overcoming inflammation and repairing tissue damage,without suppressing the immune *** studies suggest that an imbalance in the synthesis and/or activity of these compounds may be associated with the pathogenesis of several inflammatory conditions,such as inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).Thus,this review highlights the advances made in recent years with regard to the endogenous synthesis and the biological role of lipoxins,resolvins,protectins,and maresins,as well as their precursors,in the regulation of inflammation;and provides an update on the participation of these mediators in the development and evolution of IBD and the therapeutic approaches that these immunomodulating substances are involved in this context.

A screening of environmental conditions that would elicit robust biofilm in a collection of serratia marcescens isolated from soil revealed that exogenous milk protein increased biofilm productivity up to ten-fold. A select screening of fish pathogens, freshwater and human isolates identified several other species that responded similarly to exogenous protein. The optimal protein concentration was species specific;s. marcescens at 5% milk protein, Aeromonas sp. at 2% - 3%, Flavobacterium columnare at 1% and Pseudomonas aeruginosa at 0.1% - 0.4%. Media supplemented with milk protein also increased the cell counts in biofilm as well as the protein incorporated into the biofilm matrix. These data suggest that relatively high concentrations of exogenous protein may serve as an environmental trigger for biofilm formation, particularly for pathogenic bacteria exposed to relatively high concentrations of protein in bodily fluids and mucosal surfaces.

The waste management is a major environmental challenge in all the countries. In the Republic of Benin, in absence of controlled landfill, the wetlands are filling in by solid household waste to set up housing environments. This study aimed at identifying the various forms of wetlands water pollutions originated by this practice. Physico-chemical parameters of sampling water were determined by using Ionic chromatography and spectrometry of atomic absorption. The microorganisms indicating fecal peril were identified by the conventional techniques of microbiology. Water quality of a witness well was also used to assess the general water quality of the backfilled wetland. The results revealed the water samples collected from backefilled wetlands were mineralized (898.32 ± 6.13 μs/cm), rich in chlorinate (237.80 ± 4.23 mg/l) and nitrates ions (224.10 ± 3.42 mg/l). They are more colored (399.23 ± 3.01 Pt/Co) and more turbid (62.5 ± 2.48 NTU) than those of the unfilled wetlands. The results of microbiological analysis shown the presence of the cysts of Giardia lamblia (590/100 l) and cysts of Entamoeba histolytica (13/100 l) in all water, except those of witness well. The frequency of water contamination by bacteria indicating general degradation is 86.4%. The embankment of the wetlands by the solid household waste leads to the water pollution.

Thyroid dysfunction is frequent in pregnant women and is often associated with an increased risk of adverse maternal and fetal outcome. In the present work, thyroid function of pregnant women from Benin republic was studied. Two hundred forty (240) pregnant women, without thyroid disease history, have been included in the study. A blood sample was drawn for measurement of TsH, free T3 and free T4 serum levels. From the first to the third trimester, plasma levels of free T3 and free T4 decreased when plasma levels of TsH increased. Using recommendations of the 2011 American Thyroid Association (ATA) guidelines, thyroid dysfunction was observed in 24.17% of subjects. Hypothyroidism was present in 22.50% of subjects with 19.17% of subclinical hypothyroidism, 0.83% of overt hypothyroidism and 2.50% of hypothyroxinemia and hyperthyroidism was observed in 1.67% of subjects. An increase from 15.52% to 28.07% was observed in the frequency of hypothyroidism from the first to the third trimester of pregnancy. When an upper cut-off value of 4 mU/l was used for TsH, as recommended in the 2017 ATA guidelines, prevalence of thyroid disorders was 14.58% with 12.91% of hypothyroidism but no hypothyroidism was observed in women in the first trimester of pregnancy. A rise in hypothyroidism frequency was observed when pregnant women age increased. Hypothyroidism was very common in pregnant women in Benin. To allow accurate assessment of thyroid status in pregnant women in Benin, pregnancy specific range for plasma level of TsH and thyroid hormones should be established.

The activities of 7-ethoxyresorufin-O-deetylase （EROD）, 7-benzyloxyresorufin-O-debenzylase （BROD）, 7-pentoxyresorufin-O-depentilase （PROD）, and glutathione s-transferase （GsT） were measured in Nile tilapias exposed for 7 days of 5 and 15μg/l 17 β-estradiol. EROD and GsT activities were unchanged. PROD activity increased in animals exposed to the higher dose of the hormone, while BROD was increased after 7 exposure days to both doses of the compound. These results indicate the usefulness of these enzymes as biomarkers for 17 β-estradiol exposure.

This research studies the capability of the Weather Research and Forecasting model coupled with the Chemistry/Aerosol module(WRF-Chem)with and without parametrization to reproduce a dust storm,which was held on 27th June 2018 over sahara *** authors use satellite observations and ground-based measurements to evaluate the WRF-Chem *** sensitivities of WRF-Chem Model are tested on the replication of haboob features with a tuned GOCART aerosol *** of simulations with satellite and ground-based observations show that WRF-Chem is able to reproduce the Aerosol Optical Depth(AOD)distribution and associated changes of haboob in the meteorological fields with temperature drops of about 9℃and wind gust 20 m·s–*** WRF-Chem Convec-tion-permitting model(CPM)shows strong 10-meter winds induced a large dust emission along the leading edge of a convective cold pool(lECCP).The CPM indicates heavy dust transported over the West African coast(16°W-10°W;6°N-21°N)which has a potential for long-distance travel on 27th June between 1100 UTC and 1500 *** daily precipitation is improved in the CPM with a spatial distribution similar to the GPM-IMERG precipitation and maxi-mum rainfall located at the right *** well as raising a large amount of dust,the haboob caused considerable dam-age along its route.
