Antibacterial activity of leaves and inter-nodal callus extracts of Mentha arvensis L

Objective:To determine the anti-bacterial efficacy of chloroform,ethanol,ethyl acetate and water extracts of inter-nodal and leaves derived calli extracts from Mentha arvensis(***) against Salmonella typhi(***),Streptococcus pyogenes(***),Proteus vulgaris(P. vulgaris) and Bacillus subtilis(***).Methods:The inter-nodal and leaves segments of *** were cut into 0.5-0.7 cm in length and cultured on Murashige and Skoog solid medium supplemented with 3%sucrose,gelled with 0.7%agar and different concentration of 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetie acid(2,4-D) either alone or in *** preliminary phytochemical screening was performed by Brindha et al *** efficacy was performed by disc diffusion method and incubated for 24 h at 37℃.Results:Maximum percentage of callus formation(inter-nodal segments 84.3±0.78;leaves segments 93.8±1.27) was obtained on Murashige and Skoog’s basal medium supplemented with 3%sucrose and 1.5 mg/L of 2,*** ethanol extracts of leaves derived calli showed the maximum bio-efficacy than other *** leaves and stem derived calli extracts on Proteus *** that the plants can be used in the treatment of urinary tract infection associated with Proteus *** the bacterial efficacy studies,it is confirmed that the in vitro raised calli tissue was more effective compared to in vivo ***:The bio-efficacy study confirmed that the calli mediated tissues showed the maximum zone of *** present study paved a protocol to establish high potential cell lines by in vitro culture.

Factors influencing adoption of soil and water conservation practices in the northwest Ethiopian highlands

Soil erosion has long been a problem in the Ethiopian highlands in general and Dembecha district in particular. The objective of this study was to identify factors influencing adoption of soil and water conservation practices. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected from primary and sec-ondary sources. The primary data were collected from respondent samples and key informants through interview and personal observation. The secondary data were collected from sources such as books, journals, statistical reports and official documents. A multistage sampling technique was applied to select sample households. Sample sizes of 150 households were selected using simple random sampling. Both descriptive statistics and a multivariate probit econometric model were employed to analyze the data. The model results revealed that the likelihood of decisions to adopt soil bund, stone bund, check dam and strip cropping were 74, 56, 29 and 56%respectively. The joint probability of adopting the selected soil and water conservation practices was 14.2%. The model results also confirmed that age, sex, education level, household size, livestock holding, land size, access to credit, access to extension service and training were significant factors that affected the adoption of soil and water conservation practices in the study area. Based on our findings, the study suggests that the government and stakeholders should focus on strengthening the provision of formal and non-formal training and facilitate an effective extension service.

The objective of this paper is to study the oscillatory and asymptotic properties of the mixed type third order neutral difference equation of the form△（an△^2（xn＋bnxn-τ1＋cnxn＋τ2））＋qnx^βn＋1-σ1＋pnx^^βn＋1＋σ2=0,where （an）, （bn}, （cn}, （qn} and （pn} are positive real sequences, β is a ratio of odd positive integers, τ1, τ2, and σ2 are positive integers. We establish some sufficient conditions which ensure that all solutions are either oscillatory or converges to zero. Some examples are presented to illustrate the main results.

Dengue is a debilitating disease that poses a perpetual threat to human health and increases the global economic burden every *** advances in medical sciences,dengue virus(DENV)infects approximately 200 million people every *** date,no effective antiviral is valiable to treat DENV in individuals despite great efforts in accomplishing these *** approaches have been used in the search for dengue antiviral like screening of combinatorial compounds against DENV enzymes and structurebased computational *** recent years,investigators have turned their focus into medicinal plants,trying to identify compounds that can be used as dengue *** represents a great reservoir of potential substances that can be explored with the aim of discovering new drugs that can be either used directly as pharmaceuticals or can provide drug leads,which can be scrutinized further for the development of new anti-dengue natural *** previous investigations have dealt with numerous plant extracts or bioactive principles for their antiviral property as they normally considered being safer when compared to synthetic *** paniculata belongs to family Acanthaceae and is generally known as‘king of bitters’.Diverse bioactive compounds from this plant such as diterpenes,flavonoids,xanthones,noriridoides and other miscellaneous compounds have exhibited their potential as therapeutics for various chronic as well as infectious *** review is based on literature review on scientific journals,books and electronic sources,which highlights the pathogenesis of DENV and describe an assortment of bioactive principles that have been possessing antiviral potential,which include dengue and discuss the therapeutic efficacy and mechanism of action of Andrographis ***,a detailed and more comprehensive clinical trial on mammalian tissues and organs is needed in future studies.

A Sensitive Wavebands Identification System for Smart Farming

Sensing the content of macronutrients in the agricultural soil is an essential task in precision *** helps the farmers in the optimal use of *** reduces the cost of food production and also the negative environmentalimpacts on atmosphere and water bodies due to indiscriminate dosageof *** traditional chemical-based laboratory soil analysis methodsdo not serve the purpose as they are hardly suitable for site specific soil ***,the spectral range used in the chemical-based laboratory soil analysismay be of 350-2500 nm,which leads to redundancy and *** sensors based on the discovery of spectral wavebands that respondto soil macronutrient concentrations,on the other hand,is an innovative and successfultechnology since the results are dependable and *** goal of thisarticle is to use a supervised neuro-fuzzy based dimensionality reduction approachin the sensor development process to determine sensitive wavebands of ***,the spectral signatures of the soil are collected inan outdoor environment and mapped with its macronutrient *** thisspectral analysis,the spectral reflectance of 424 wavelengths has been obtainedand these wavelengths are evaluated through combined and individual modesas *** wavelengths are selected in each case by minimizing the fuzzy reflectance assessment *** effectiveness of these selected wavelengthsin each mode is validated by modeling the relation between the reduced reflectancespace and each macronutrient concentration using Partial Least Squares Multi Variable Regression(PLS-MVR)*** of optimal wavebands areidentified and the results are compared with the existing systems.

Employment of Jacobian elliptic functions for solving problems in nonlinear dynamics of microtubules

We show how Jacobian elliptic functions （JEFs） can be used to solve ordinary differential equations （ODEs） describing the nonlinear dynamics of microtubules （MTs）. We demonstrate that only one of the JEFs can be used while the remaining two do not represent the solutions of the crucial differential equation. We show that a kinkbtype soliton moves along MTs. Besides this solution, we also discuss a few more solutions that may or may not have physical meanings. Finally, we show what kind of ODE can be solved by using JEFs.

Development of Algorithm for Person Re-Identification Using Extended Openface Method

Deep learning has risen in popularity as a face recognition technology in recent ***,a deep convolutional neural network(DCNN)developed by Google,recognizes faces with 128 bytes per *** also claims to have achieved 99.96%on the reputed Labelled Faces in the Wild(LFW)***-ever,the accuracy and validation rate of Facenet drops down eventually,there is a gradual decrease in the resolution of the *** research paper aims at developing a new facial recognition system that can produce a higher accuracy rate and validation rate on low-resolution face *** proposed system Extended Openface performs facial recognition by using three different features i)facial landmark ii)head pose iii)eye *** extracts facial landmark detection using Scattered Gated Expert Network Constrained Local Model(SGEN-CLM).It also detects the head pose and eye gaze using Enhanced Constrained Local Neur-alfield(ECLNF).Extended openface employs a simple Support Vector Machine(SVM)for training and testing the face *** system’s performance is assessed on low-resolution datasets like LFW,Indian Movie Face Database(IMFDB).The results demonstrated that Extended Openface has a better accuracy rate(12%)and validation rate(22%)than Facenet on low-resolution images.

Recently,data science techniques utilize artificial intelligence(AI)techniques who start and run small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs)to take an influence and grow their *** SMEs,owing to the inexistence of consistent data and other features,evaluating credit risks is difficult and *** the other hand,it becomes necessary to design efficient models for predicting business failures orfinancial crises of *** data classification approaches forfinancial crisis prediction(FCP)have been presented for predicting thefinancial status of the organization by the use of past data.A major process involved in the design of FCP is the choice of required features for enhanced classifier *** this motivation,this paper focuses on the design of an optimal deep learning-basedfinancial crisis prediction(ODL-FCP)model for *** proposed ODL-FCP technique incorporates two phases:Archimedes optimization algorithm based feature selection(AOA-FS)algorithm and optimal deep convo-lution neural network with long short term memory(CNN-LSTM)based data *** ODL-FCP technique involves a sailfish optimization(SFO)algorithm for the hyperparameter optimization of the CNN-LSTM *** performance validation of the ODL-FCP technique takes place using a benchmarkfinancial dataset and the outcomes are inspected in terms of various *** experimental results highlighted that the proposed ODL-FCP technique has out-performed the other techniques.

Isolation and characterization of marine biofilm forming bacteriafrom a ship＇s hull

Background Diverse aquatic microorganisms are capable of colonizing living and non-living surfaces leading to the formation of biofilms. Commonly visualized as a slimy layer, these biofilms are filled with hundreds of other microorganisms compared to free living planktonic cells. Microbial surface colonization and surface-associated metabolic activities also exert several macroscale deleterious effects, including biofouling, biocorrosion and the persistence and transmission of harmful or pathogenic microorganisms and virulence determinants. The present study deals with the isolation and screening of marine bacteria for biofilm formation. The screened isolates were characterized and identified as Pychrobacter celer, Pychrobacter alimentarius and Kocuria rhizophila by 16S rRNA *** Biofilm forming bacteria were isolated by spread plate technique and subjected to screening by microtiter plate assay. The potent biofilm formers were identified by molecular characterization using 16S rRNA gene *** Twelve bacterial isolates were obtained by pour plate technique and subjected to biofilm assay. Among the 12 isolates three isolates which showed maximum biofilm formation were subjected to molecular characterizationby 16S rRNA gene sequencing method. The isolates were identified as Pychrobacter celer, Pychrobacter alimentarius and Kocuria rhizophila. The EPS produced by the three biofilm forming bacteria was extracted and the protein and carbohydrate content *** Among the isolates screened, isolate 8 (Kocuria rhizophila) produced maximum protein and carbohydrate which was also in accordance with the results of microtiter plate assay.

Feature Selection with Optimal Variational Auto Encoder for Financial Crisis Prediction

Financial crisis prediction(FCP)received significant attention in the financial sector for *** forecasting of the number of firms possible to fail is important to determine the growth index and strength of a nation’s ***,numerous approaches have been developed in the design of accurate FCP *** the same time,classifier efficacy and predictive accuracy are inadequate for real-time *** addition,several established techniques carry out well to any of the specific datasets but are not adjustable to distinct ***,there is a necessity for developing an effectual prediction technique for optimum classifier performance and adjustable to various *** paper presents a novel ***(MVO)based feature selection(FS)with an optimal variational auto encoder(OVAE)model for *** proposed *** based feature selection with optimal variational auto encoder(MVOFS-OVAE)model mainly aims to accomplish forecasting the financial *** achieving this,the proposed MVOFS-OVAE model primarily pre-processes the financial data using min-max *** addition,the MVOFS-OVAE model designs a feature subset selection process using the MVOFS *** by,the variational auto encoder(VAE)model is applied for the categorization of financial data into financial crisis or non-financial ***,the differential evolution(DE)algorithm is utilized for the parameter tuning of the VAE model.A series of simulations on the benchmark dataset reported the betterment of the MVOFS-OVAE approach over the recent state of art approaches.
