Quinary oxynitride BaNb_0.5Ta_0.5O_2N crystals were fabricated through the partial nitridation and acidifica- tion of the KCI flux grown Ba_5Nb_2Ta_2O_15 crystals. The parameters of both the solute concentrations and cooling rates are optimized for the KCI flux growth of the larger Ba_5Nb_2Ta_2O_15 crystals with clearer crystal habits. Here, the optimal Ba_5Nb_2Ta_2O_15 crystals mainly have a hexagonal plate-like shape. After the par- tial nitridation and acidification, the porous BaNb_0.5Ta_0.5O_2N crystals maintained the crystal shape of the oxide precursor and had a single-crystalline nature. For the BasNb2Ta2015 crystals, the wavelength of the absorption edge was about 707 nm. Especially, the CoOx-Ioaded BaNb_0.5Ta_0.5O_2N photocatalyst demon- strated the comparatively high amount of O_2 gas （150.7 μmol） during the 5 h visible-light-induced sacri- ficial water oxidation half-reaction, which might be achieved due to the high crystallinity and visible-light absorotion property.

Endoscopic ultrasound(EUS)is an important part of modern gastrointestinal endoscopy and now has an integral role in the diagnostic evaluation of pancreatic ***,as EUS technology has advanced,it has increasingly become a therapeutic procedure,and the prospect of multiple applications of interventional EUS for the pancreas is truly on the near ***,this review focuses on the established diagnostic and therapeutic roles of EUS that are used in current clinical *** particular,the diagnostic evaluation of acute pancreatitis,chronic pancreatitis,cystic pancreatic lesions and solid masses of the pancreas are *** newer enhanced imaging modalities of elastography and contrast enhancement are evaluated in this *** main therapeutic aspects of pancreatic EUS are then considered,namely celiac plexus block and celiac plexus neurolysis for pain control in chronic pancreatitis and pancreas cancer,and EUS-guided drainage of pancreatic fluid collections.

PCA-based 3D Shape Reconstruction of Human Foot Using Multiple Viewpoint Cameras

This paper describes a multiple camera-based method to reconstruct the 3D shape of a human foot. From a foot database, an initial 3D model of the foot represented by a cloud of points is built. The shape parameters, which can characterize more than 92% of a foot, are defined by using the principal component analysis method. Then, using ＂active shape models＂, the initial 3D model is adapted to the real foot captured in multiple images by applying some constraints （edge points＇ distance and color variance）. We insist here on the experiment part where we demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method on a plastic foot model, and also on real human feet with various shapes. We propose and compare different ways of texturing the foot which is needed for reconstruction. We present an experiment performed on the plastic foot model and on human feet and propose two different ways to improve the final 3D shapers accuracy according to the previous experiments＇ results. The first improvement proposed is the densification of the cloud of points used to represent the initial model and the foot database. The second improvement concerns the projected patterns used to texture the foot. We conclude by showing the obtained results for a human foot with the average computed shape error being only 1.06 mm.

FTY720, a sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor modulator, induces a marked decrease in the number of peripheral blood lymphocytes and exerts immunomodulating activity in various experimental allograft and autoimmune disease models. In this study, we evaluated the effect of FTY720 and its active metabolite, （S）-enantiomer of FTY720-phosphate [（S）-FTY720-P] on experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis （EAE） in rats and mice. Prophylactic administration of FTY720 at 0.1 to 1 mg/kg almost completely prevented the development of EAE, and therapeutic treatment with FTY720 significantly inhibited the progression of EAE and EAE-associated histological change in the spinal cords of LEW rats induced by immunization with myelin basic protein. Consistent with rat EAE, the development of proteolipid protein-induced EAE in SJL/J mice was almost completely prevented and infiltration of CD4^＋ T cells into spinal cord was decreased by prophylactic treatment with FTY720 and （S）-FTY720-P. When FTY720 or （S）-FTY720-P was given after establishment of EAE in SJL/J mice, the relapse of EAE was markedly inhibited as compared with interferon-β, and the area of demyelination and the infiltration of CD4^＋ T cells were decreased in spinal cords of EAE mice. Similar therapeutic effect by FTY720 was obtained in myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein-induced EAE in C57BL/6 mice. These results indicate that FTY720 exhibits not only a prophylactic but also a therapeutic effect on EAE in rats and mice, and that the effect of FTY720 on EAE appears to be due to a reduction of the infiltration of myelin antigen-specific CD4^＋ T cells into the inflammation site. The Spontaneously-Running Tokushima Shikoku (SPORTS) strain is an original line derived from Wistar rats, which spontaneously runs >6 km/day on wheels, and has better glucose tolerance and less fat than Wistar rats. However, the molecular mechanism that contributes to the increased metabolic activity in SPORTS rats is unknown. The present study aimed to characterize the gene expression profiles of skeletal muscles in SPORTS rats housed under sedentary (SED) conditions. We found that the expression levels of genes encoding mitochondrial respiratory chain enzymes such as ATP synthase 6 (mt-Atp6) and cytochrome c oxidase subunit 6c (Cox6c), were higher in the soleus (SOL) muscles of SED SPORTS than in SED Wistar rats. The ratio of type IIa myofibers was higher and glucose tolerance was better in SED SPORTS than in Wistar rats that were sedentary and trained daily on treadmills, respectively. We then investigated candidate genes that might contribute to the better glucose tolerance of SED SPORTS rats using DNA microarray analysis. Among 116 upregulated genes in the SOL muscles of SED SPORTS rats, only 19 were also increased in trained Wistar rats. We focused on v-erb-b2 erythroblastic leukemia viral oncogene homolog 3 (Erbb3), which was associated with glucose transport in myocytes, and found higher expression levels in the SOL muscles of SED SPORTS than in SED Wistar rats. The SOL muscles of SED SPORTS rats also contained more activity of β-hydroxyacylCoA dehydrogenase, a key enzyme of β-oxidation, indicating enhanced lipid oxidation. These findings suggest that increased metabolic activity in skeletal muscle (especially the SOL muscle) of SPORTS rats is congenital and that gene expression profiles of SPORTS rats and Trained Wistar rats are different.
