Aluminum nitride (AlN)/borosilicate glass composites were prepared by the tape casting process and hot-press sin-tered at 950°C with AlN and SiO2-B2O3-ZnO-Al2O3-Li2O glass as starting *** characterized and analyzed the variation of the microstructure,bulk density,porosity,dielectric constant,thermal conductivity and thermal expansion coefficient (TEC) of the ceramic samples as a function of AlN *** show that AlN and SiO2-B2O3-ZnO-Al2O3-Li2O glass can be sintered at 950°C,and ZnAl2O4 and Zn2SiO4 phase precipitated to form *** performance of the ceramic samples was de-termined by the composition and bulk density of the *** AlN content was found redounding to liquid phase sin-tering,and higher bulk density of composites can be accordingly *** the increase of porosity,corresponding decreases were located in the dielectric constant,thermal conductivity and TEC of the ceramic *** the mass fraction of AlN was 40%,the ceramic samples possessed a low dielectric constant (4.5～5.0),high thermal conductivity (11.6W/(m.K)) and a proper TEC (3.0×10-6K-1,which matched that of silicon).The excellent performance makes this kind of low temperature co-fired ce-ramic a promising candidate for application in the micro-electronics packaging industry.

Novel angiotensin-converting enzyme(ACE)inhibitory peptides were identified from whey protein hydrolysates(WPH)in vitro in our previous study and the antihypertensive abilities of WPH in vivo were further investigated in the current *** indicated that WPH significantly inhibited the development of high blood pressure and tissue injuries caused by *** inhibited ACE activity(20.81%,P<0.01),and reduced renin concentration(P<0.05),thereby reducing systolic blood pressure(SBP)(12.63%,P<0.05)in spontaneously hypertensive *** increased Akkermansia,Bacteroides,and Lactobacillus abundance promoted high short chain fatty acid content in feces after WPH *** changes jointly contributed to low blood *** heart weight and cardiomyocyte injuries(hypertrophy and degeneration)were alleviated by *** proteomic results revealed that 19 protein expressions in the heart mainly associated with the wingless/integrated(Wnt)signaling pathway and Apelin signaling pathway were altered after WPH ***,WPH alleviated serum oxidative stress,indicated by the decreased malondialdehyde content(P<0.01),enhanced total antioxidant capacity(P<0.01)and superoxide dismutase activity(P<0.01).The current study suggests that WPH exhibit promising antihypertensive abilities in vivo and could be a potential alternative for antihypertensive dietary supplements.

The applicability of vortex identification methods for complex vortex structures in axial turbine rotor passages

The complex vortex structures in the flow around turbine rotor passages, with weak or strong, large or small vortices, interacting with each other, often generate most of aerodynamic loss in turbomachines. Therefore, it is important to identify the vortex structures accurately for the flow field analysis and the aerodynamic performance optimization for turbomachines. In this paper, by using 4 vortex identification methods (the Q criterion, the Q method, the Liutex method and the Q -Liutex method), the vortices are identified in turbine rotor passages. In terms of the threshold selection, the results show that the D method and the Q -Liutex method are more robust, by which strong and weak vortices can be visualized simultaneously over a wide range of thresholds. As for the display consistency of the vortex identification methods and the streamlines, it is shown that the Liutex method gives results coinciding best with the streamlines in identifying strong vortices, while the Q -Liutex method gives results the most consistent with the streamlines in identifying weak vortices. As to the relationship among the loss, the vortices and the shear, except for the Q criterion, the other three methods can distinguish the vortical regions from the high shear regions. And the flow losses in turbine rotor passages are often related to high shear zones, while there is a small loss within the core of the vortex. In order to obtain the variation of vortices in the turbine rotor passages at different working points, the Liutex method is applied in 2 cases of a turbine with different angles of attack. The identification results show that the strengths of the tip leakage vortex and the upper passage vortex are weaker and the distance between them is closer at a negative angle of attack. This indicates that the Liutex method is an effective method, and can be used to analyze the vortex structures and their evolution in turbine rotor passages.

Pediatric cardiac surgery in China has madegreat progress since the first successful open heart operation for correction of ventricular septal defect （VSD） with an artificial heart-lung machine in 1958.1 In recent years, the state has paid much attention to both the basic research and the primary, secondary and tertiary prevention of congenital heart disease. The surgical treatment for congenital heart diseases in infancy was listed as one of the Family Planning Technology Specific Projects among the Key Tasks in the Tenth Five-Year Plan. Due to economic and social conditions in China primary or secondary prevention and treatment of congenital heart disease are still in the early phase of development. Therefore, tertiary prevention -- surgical treatment--is still of crucial importance. Here we review the current status of pediatric cardiac surgery in China and highlight the latest advances in this exciting field.

BACKGROUND Although the past decade has seen remarkable advances in treatment options for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),the dismal overall prognosis still envelops HCC *** comparative trials have been conducted to study whether transarterial chemoembolization(TACE)could improve clinical outcomes in patients receiving sorafenib for advanced HCC;however,the findings have been *** To study the potential synergies and safety of sorafenib plus TACE vs sorafenib alone for treating advanced HCC,by performing a systematic review and *** This study was conducted following the PRISMA statement.A systematic literature search was conducted using the Cochrane Library,Embase,PubMed,and Web of Science *** included in the present work were collected from patients diagnosed with advanced HCC receiving sorafenib plus TACE or sorafenib *** synthesis and meta-analysis were conducted using Review Manager *** The present study included 2780 patients from five comparative clinical trials(1 was randomized control trial and 4 were retrospective studies).It was found that patients receiving sorafenib plus TACE had better prognoses in terms of overall survival(OS),with a combined hazard ratio(HR)of 0.65[95%confidence interval(95%CI):0.46–0.93,P=0.02,n=2780].Consistently,progression free survival(PFS)and time to progression(TTP)differed significantly between the sorafenib plus TACE arm and sorafenib arm(PFS:HR=0.62,95%CI:0.40–0.96,P=0.03,n=443;TTP:HR=0.73,95%CI:0.64-0.83,P<0.00001,n=2451).Disease control rate(DCR)was also significantly increased by combination therapy(risk ratio=1.36,95%CI:1.02-1.81,P=0.04,n=641).Regarding safety,the incidence of any adverse event(AE)was increased due to the addition of TACE;however,no significant difference was found in grade≥3 *** The combination of sorafenib with TACE has superior efficacy to sorafenib monotherapy,as evidenced by prolonged OS,PFS,and TTP,as well as increase
