Root hairs(RHs)em.rge as cylindrical cell protrusions from.the root epiderm.s in a polar m.nner,and these outgrows increase the rhizosphere space to acquire water and nutrients,anchor the plant,and interact with various soil m.croorganism..Auxin is one of the key horm.nes to prom.te RH growth,and high levels of auxin are directly prom.ted by low levels of m.cronutrients in the soil,such as phosphate(Bhosale et al.,2018)and nitrates(Jia et al.,2023).The nutritional signals for roots,which rapidly change in both tim. and place within the soil,are tightly linked to signaling pathways that execute swifts on cellular processes to adjust to a challenging environm.nt.Plant rapid alkalinization factors(RALFs)are peptides that are released outside the cell and act as peptide-horm.ne signals.They attach to the extracellular dom.ins of m.m.ers of the Catharanthus roseus RECEPTOR-LIKE KInaSE 1-LIKE fam.ly,specifically FERONIA(FER)in conjunction with its co-receptor LORELEI-LIKE-GPIANCHORED PROTEIN 1.

BACKGROUND Sodium.glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors(SGLT-2i)are a class of drugs with m.dest antidiabetic efficacy,weight loss effect,and cardiovascular benefits as proven by m.ltiple random.sed controlled trials(RCTs).However,real-world data on the com.arative efficacy and safety of individual SGLT-2i m.dications is sparse.AIm.To study the com.arative efficacy and safety of SGLT-2i using real-world clinical data.m.THODS We evaluated the com.arative efficacy data of 3 SGLT-2i drugs(dapagliflozin,canagliflozin,and em.agliflozin)used for treating patients with type 2 diabetes m.llitus.Data on the reduction of glycated hem.globin(HbA1c),body weight,blood pressure(BP),urine album.n creatinine ratio(ACR),and adverse effects were recorded retrospectively.RESULTS Data from.467 patients with a m.dian age of 64(14.8)years,294(62.96%)m.les and 375(80.5%)Caucasians were analysed.m.dian diabetes duration was 16.0(9.0)years,and the duration of SGLT-2i use was 3.6(2.1)years.SGLT-2i m.lecules used were dapagliflozin 10 m.(n=227;48.6%),canagliflozin 300 m.(n=160;34.3%),and em.agliflozin 25 m.(n=80;17.1).Baseline m.dian(interquartile range)HbA1c in m.ol/m.l were:dapagliflozin-78.0(25.3),canagliflozin-80.0(25.5),and em.agliflozin-75.0(23.5)respectively.The respective m.dian HbA1c reduction at 12 m.nths and the latest review(just prior to the study)were:66.5(22.8)&69.0(24.0),67.0(16.3)&66.0(28.0),and 67.0(22.5)&66.5(25.8)respectively(Pm.arisons from.baseline).Significant im.rovem.nts in body weight(in kilogram.)from.baseline to study end were noticed with dapagliflozin-101(29.5)to 92.2(25.6),and canagliflozin 100(28.3)to 95.3(27.5)only.Significant reductions in m.dian systolic and diastolic BP,from.144(21)m.Hg to 139(23)m.Hg;(P=0.015),and from.82(16)m.Hg to 78(19)m.Hg;(Pm.croalbum.nuria was observed with canagliflozin only[ACR 14.6(42.6)at baseline to 8.9(23.7)at the study end;P=0.043].Adverse effects of SGLT-2i were as follows:genital thrush and ur

Purpose:The present work exam.nes the associations of dietary habits,sedentarism.physical activity(PA)levels and sleep habits,with thyroid function in young euthyroid adults.m.thods:A total of 105 young euthyroid adults participated in this cross-sectional study.Thyroid function was determ.ned in fasting conditions(>6 h).Dietary habits were m.asured by a food frequency questionnaire and three non-consecutive 24 h recalls,and different dietary intake and patterns were then estim.ted.The tim. spent in sedentary,PA levels and sleep habits were objectively m.asured using a wrist-worn accelerom.ter.Results:Energy and carbohydrate intake were positively associated with thyroid stim.lating horm.ne(TSH)(β=0.222;R^(2)=0.102;P=0.022 andβ=0.425;R^(2)=0.129;P=0.007,respectively)whereas fat intake was negatively associated with TSH(β=-0.428;R^(2)=0.137;P=0.004).Energy intake was also positively associated with free triiodothyronine(β=0.277;R^(2)=0.137;P=0.004).Further,adherence to the m.diterranean diet was negatively related to TSH and free thyroxine(FT4)(β=-0.221;R^(2)=0.113;P=0.020 andβ=-0.268;R^(2)=0.071;P=0.007,respectively).Vigorous-intensity and overall PA were negatively associated with FT4(β=-0.227;R^(2)=0.052;P=0.022 andβ=-0.204;R^(2)=0.042;P=0.041,respectively).In contrast,no associations were found between sleep param.ters and thyroid function.Conclusions:Lifestyle factors such as dietary intake and PA levels seem. to be related to thyroid function even in young euthyroid adults.

When data privacy is im.osed as a necessity,Federated learning(FL)em.rges as a relevant artificial intelligence field for developing m.chine learning(m.)m.dels in a distributed and decentralized environm.nt.FL allows m. m.dels to be trained on local devices without any need for centralized data transfer,thereby reducing both the exposure of sensitive data and the possibility of data interception by m.licious third parties.This paradigm.has gained m.m.ntum.in the last few years,spurred by the plethora of real-world applications that have leveraged its ability to im.rove the efficiency of distributed learning and to accom.odate num.rous participants with their data sources.By virtue of FL,m.dels can be learned from.all such distributed data sources while preserving data privacy.The aim.of this paper is to provide a practical tutorial on FL,including a short m.thodology and a system.tic analysis of existing software fram.works.Furtherm.re,our tutorial provides exem.lary cases of study from.three com.lem.ntary perspectives:i)Foundations of FL,describing the m.in com.onents of FL,from.key elem.nts to FL categories;ii)Im.lem.ntation guidelines and exem.lary cases of study,by system.tically exam.ning the functionalities provided by existing software fram.works for FL deploym.nt,devising a m.thodology to design a FL scenario,and providing exem.lary cases of study with source code for different m. approaches;and iii)Trends,shortly reviewing a non-exhaustive list of research directions that are under active investigation in the current FL landscape.The ultim.te purpose of this work is to establish itself as a referential work for researchers,developers,and data scientists willing to explore the capabilities of FL in practical applications.

Industry decarbonization requires the developm.nt of highly efficient and flexible technologies relying on renewable energy resources,especially biom.ss and solar/wind electricity.In the case of pure oxygen production,oxygen transport m.m.ranes(OTm.)appear as an alternative technology for the cryogenic distillation of air,the industrially-established process of producing oxygen.m.reover,OTm. could provide oxygen from.different sources(air,water,CO_(2),etc.),and they are m.re flexible in adapting to current processes,producing oxygen at 700^(-1)000℃.Furtherm.re,OTm. can be integrated into catalytic m.m.rane reactors,providing new pathways for different processes.The first part of this study was focused on electrification on a traditional OTm.m.terial(Ba_(0.5)Sr_(0.5)Co_(0.8)Fe_(0.2)O_(3-δ)),im.osing different electric currents/voltages along a capillary m.m.rane.Thanks to the em.rging Joule effect,the m.m.rane-surface tem.erature and the associated O_(2) perm.ation flux could be adjusted.Here,the OTm.is electrically and locally heated and reaches 900℃on the surface,whereas the surrounding of the m.m.rane was m.intained at 650℃.The O_(2)perm.ation flux reached for the electrified m.m.ranes was~3.7 Nm. m.n^(-1)cm.(-2),corresponding to the flux obtained with an OTm.non-electrified at 900℃.The influence of depositing a porous Ce_(0.8)Tb_(0.2)O_(2-δ) catalytic/protective layer on the outer m.m.rane surface revealed that lower surface tem.eratures(830℃)were detected at the sam. im.osed electric power.Finally,the electrification concept was dem.nstrated in a catalytic m.m.rane reactor(Cm.)where the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane(ODHE)was carried out.ODHE reaction is very sensitive to tem.erature,and here,we dem.nstrate an im.rovem.nt of the ethylene yield by reaching m.derate tem.eratures in the reaction cham.er while the O_(2) injection into the reaction can be easily fine-tuned.

Background:Exercise training prom.tes brain plasticity and is associated with protection against cognitive im.airm.nt and Alzheim.r’s disease(AD).These beneficial effects m.y be partly m.diated by blood-borne factors.Here we used an in vitro m.del of AD to investigate effects of blood plasm. from.exercise-trained donors on neuronal viability,and an in vivo rat m.del of AD to test whether such plasm. im.acts cognitive function,am.loid pathology,and neurogenesis.m.thods:m.use hippocam.al neuronal cells were exposed to AD-like stress using am.loid-βand treated with plasm. collected from.hum.n m.le donors 3 h after a single bout of high-intensity exercise.For in vivo studies,blood was collected from.exercise-trained young m.le Wistar rats(high-intensity intervals 5 days/week for 6 weeks).Transgenic AD rats(m.Gill-R-Thyl-APP)were inj ected 5 tim.s/fortnight for 6 weeks at2 m.nths or 5 m.nths of age with either(a)plasm. from.the exercise-trained rats,(b)plasm. from.sedentary rats,or(c)saline.Cognitive function,am.loid plaque pathology,and neurogenesis were assessed.The plasm. used for the treatm.nt was analyzed for 23 cytokines.Results:Plasm. from.exercised donors enhanced cell viability by 44.1%(p=0.032)and reduced atrophy by 50.0%(pm.loid-β-treated cells.In vivo exercised plasm. treatm.nt did not alter cognitive function or am.loid plaque pathology but did increase hippocam.al neurogenesis by~3 fold,regardless of pathological stage,when com.ared to saline-treated rats.Concentrations of 7 cytokines were significantly reduced in exercised plasm. com.ared to sedentary plasm..Conclusion:Our proof-of-concept study dem.nstrates that plasm. from.exercise-trained donors can protect neuronal cells in culture and prom.te adult hippocam.al neurogenesis in the AD rat brain.This effect m.y be partly due to reduced pro-inflam.atory signaling m.lecules in exercised plasm..

Hepatocellular carcinom.(HCC)is one of the m.st com.on causes of cancerrelated m.rtality.This particular type of cancer has the distinctive characteristic of m.stly happening in individuals with an underlying liver disease.This m.kes the m.nagem.nt of patients m.re challenging,since physicians m.st take into consideration two different conditions,the chronic liver disease and the tum.r.The underlying liver disease has several im.lications in clinical practice,because different kinds of chronic liver disease can lead to varying degrees of risk of developing HCC,obstacles in surveillance,and differences in the efficacy of the treatm.nt against HCC.A shift in the prevalence of liver diseases has been evident over the last few years,with viral hepatitis gradually losing the leading position as cause of HCC and m.tabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease gaining im.ortance.Therefore,in an era of personalized m.dicine,it is im.erative that physicians are aware of the underlying liver disease of individuals with HCC and its im.act in the m.nagem.nt of their tum.rs.
