Introduction:Rectal prolapse is a condition that occurs infrequently in men and there is little literature guiding treatment in this *** purpose of this study was to evaluate the surgical approach and outcomes of rectal-prolapse repair in ***:A retrospective multicenter review was conducted of consecutive men who underwent rectal-prolapse repair between 2004 and *** approaches and outcomes,including erectile function and fecal continence,were ***:During the study period,58 men underwent rectal-prolapse repair and the mean age of repair was 52.7624.1 *** mean follow-up was 13.2 months(range,0.5–117 months).The majority of patients underwent endoscopic evaluation(78%),but few patients underwent anal manometry(16%),defecography(9%)or ultrasound(3%).Ten patients(17%)underwent biofeedback/pelvic-floor physical therapy prior to *** patients(33%)underwent a perineal approach(most were perineal proctosigmoidectomy).Thirty-nine patients(67%)underwent repair using an abdominal approach(all were suture rectopexy)and,of these,77%were completed using a minimally invasive *** overall complication rate was 26%including urinary retention(16%),which was more common in patients undergoing the perineal approach(32%vs.8%,P=0.028),urinary-tract infection(7%)and wound infection(3%).The overall recurrence rate was 9%,with no difference between abdominal and perineal *** on sexual function was missing in the majority of patients both before and after surgery(76%and 78%,respectively).Conclusion:Rectal-prolapse repair in men is safe and has a low recurrence rate;however,sexual function was poorly recorded across all *** studies are needed to evaluate to best approach to and functional outcomes of rectal-prolapse repair in men.

Background： Anecdotally, parents often report that children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder （ADHD） who engage in regular physical activity （PA） experience positive behavioral changes. The purpose of this study was to examine this anecdotal relationship to provide preliminary evidence relevant to the potential benefits of PA on ADHD symptoms. Methods： Parents （n = 68） of children diagnosed with ADHD completed an lnternet survey assessing perceptions of how PA influences their child＇s symptoms. Results： A significantly greater percentage of parents reported that regular PA positively impacted symptoms. However, there were no uniform effects for all types of ADHD symptoms. The results indicate that there may be more positive benefits for symptoms of inattention and hyperactivity than for those of impulsivity. Conclusion： This is the first study to empirically document parents＇ perceptions of how PA influences ADHD and suggests that PA can be a viable strategy for reducing symptoms. PA may have greater benefits for specific symptoms of ADHD, providing critical information for developing PA interventions for children and adolescents.

Species＇ partitioning of resources remains one of the most integral components for understanding community assem- bly. Analysis of stable carbon and nitrogen isotopes in animal tissues has the potential to help resolve patterns of partitioning be- cause these proxies represent the individual＇s diet and trophic niche, respectively. Using free-ranging rodents in a southern Afri- can savanna as a model community, we find that syntopic species within habitats occupy distinct isotope niches. Moreover, spe- cies with strongly overlapping isotope niches did not overlap in their spatial distribution patterns, suggesting an underlying effect of competitive exclusion. Niche conservatism appears to characterize the behaviour of most species in our sample - with little or no observed changes across habitats - with the exception of one species, Mastomys coucha. This species displayed a generalist distribution, being found in similar abundances across a variety of habitats. This spatial pattern was coupled with a generalist isotope niche that shifted across habitats, likely in response to changes in species composition over the same spatial gradient. The case for M. coucha supports contentions that past competition effects played a significant evolutionary role in shaping community structures of today, including the absence of strong interspecific niche overlaps within particular habitats. Our study highlights the value of stable isotope approaches to help resolve key questions in community ecology, and moreover introduces novel ana- lytical approaches to quantifying isotope niche breadths and niche overlaps that are easily comparable with traditional metrices

Delayed graft function (DGF) is a common complication occurring most often after deceased donor kidney transplant with several donor characteristics as well as immunologic factors that lead to its development *** patients require dialysis and close kidney function monitoring until sufficient allograft function is *** has resulted in limited options for DGF management,either prolonged hospitalization until graft function improves to the point where dialysis is no longer needed or discharge back to their home dialysis unit with periodic follow up in the transplant *** is associated with a higher risk for acute rejection,premature graft failure,and 30-d readmission;therefore,these patients need close monitoring,immunosuppression management,and prompt allograft biopsy if prolonged DGF is *** may not occur if these patients are discharged back to their home dialysis *** address this issue,the University of Wisconsin-Madison created a clinic in 2011 specialized in outpatient DGF *** clinic was able to successfully reduce hospital length of stay without an increase in 30-d readmission,graft loss,and patient death.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors are increasingly drawing much attention in the therapeutic development for cancer treatment. However, many cancer patients do not respond to treatments with immune checkpoint inhibitors, partly because of the lack of tumor-infiltrating effector T cells. Cancer vaccines may prime patients for treatments with immune checkpoint inhibitors by inducing effector T-ceU infiltration into the tumors and immune checkpoint signals. The combination of cancer vaccine and an immune checkpoint inhibitor may function synergistically to induce more effective antitumor immune responses, and clinical trials to test the combination are currently ongoing.

Background： The current study evaluated the subcutaneous fatty acid （FA） composition of calf- and yearling-fed steer with or without growth promoting implants. Crossbred steers （n = 112; 267 ± 5.0 kg） of the same contemporary group were allocated to one of four production system and implant strategy based treatments in a completely randomized design with a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement of treatments. Results： There were no interactions （P 〉 0.05） between production systems and growth promoting implants for the total and individual subcutaneous FA. Yearling as opposed to calf finishing reduced （P 〈 0.05） subcutaneous proportions of C20：3n-6, trans （t）l 2-18：1, C14：0, several minor cis-monounsaturated FA （c-MUFA; c9-14：1, c11-16：1, cl 1-18：1, cl 2-18：1, cl 3-18：1, c9-20：1 and cl 1-20：1）, and increased （P 〈 0.05） subcutaneous proportions of tl 1 cl 5-18：2, total and individual branched-chain FA. Subcutaneous fat from steers implanted with growth promotants had higher （P 〈 0.05） proportions of total polyunsaturated FA （PUFA）, total n-6 PUFA, C18：2n-6 and individual t-18：1 isomers （t6 to tl0） compared to non-implanted steers. Conclusions： Overall, current findings show that production systems and growth promotants led to only minor differences in subcutaneous FA composition of beef steers.
