The k-nearest neighbor （k-NN） method was evaluated to predict the influent flow rate and four water qualities, namely chemical oxygen demand （COD）, suspended solid （SS）, total nitrogen （T-N） and total phosphorus （T-P） at a wastewater treatment plant （wwTP）. The search range and approach for determining the number of nearest neighbors （NNs） under dry and wet weather conditions were initially optimized based on the root mean square error （RMSE）. The optimum search range for considering data size was one year. The square root-based （SR） approach was superior to the distance factor-based （DF） approach in determining the appropriate number of NNs. However, the results for both approaches varied slightly depending on the water quality and the weather conditions. The influent flow rate was accurately predicted within one standard deviation of measured values. influent water qualities were well predicted with the mean absolute percentage error （MAPE） under both wet and dry weather conditions. For the seven-day prediction, the difference in predictive accuracy was less than 5% in dry weather conditions and slightly worse in wet weather conditions. Overall, the k-NN method was verified to be useful for predicting wwTP influent characteristics.

Grasping force estimation using surface Electromyography (sEMG) has been actively investigated as it can increase the manipulability and dexterity of prosthetic hands and robotic hands. Most of the current studies in this area only focus on finding the relationship between sEMG signals and the grasping force without considering the arm posture. Therefore, regression models are not suitable to predict grasping force in various arm postures. in this paper, a method to predict the grasping force from sEMG signals and various grasping postures is developed. The proposed algorithm uses a tensor algebra to train a multi-factor model relevant to sEMG signals corresponding to various grasping forces and postures of the wrist and forearm in multiple dimensions. The multi-factor model is then decomposed into four independent factor spaces of the grasping force, sEMG signals, wrist posture, and forearm posture. Moreover, when a participant executes a new posture, new factors for the wrist and forearm are interpolated in the factor spaces. Thus, the grasping force with various postures can be predicted by combining these factors. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through experiments with ten healthy subjects, demonstrating the higher performance of proposed grasping force prediction method than the previous algorithm.

The antitumor capabilities of agonistic anti-4-1BB mAbs have made them an attractive target for tumor ***,the adverse side effects associated with agonist antibodies have hindered their clinical ***,we aimed to study the immune-related adverse events of repeated doses and long-term use of agonistic anti-4-1BB *** show that chronic activation of 4-1BB signals induced the accumulation of iFN-γ-producing PD-1^(+)CD8^(+)T cells in the secondary lymphoid organs of tumor-bearing mice by increasing the number of dividing CD8^(+)T cells,which was beneficial for suppressing tumor growth in the early phase of anti-4-1BB ***,repeated exposure to anti-4-1BB mAbs led to granuloma development in tumor-draining lymph nodes(TDLNs)of mice due to recruitment and accumulation of macrophages via the CD8^(+)T cell-iFN-γ*** was accompanied by excessive lymph node swelling,which impaired the sequential activation of CD8^(+)T *** data provide insights into the immune-related adverse events of long-term agonist 4-1BB antibody dosing,which should be considered during the clinical development of immunomodulating therapy.

The microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-xCe-0.5Zn （x=0.5, 1.5, 2.5, molar fraction, %） alloys were examined using a nano-indentation technique. The alloys were fabricated using a vacuum induction melting method under an argon atmosphere The microstruetures of Mg-xCe-0.5Zn alloys mainly consist ofa-Mg and eutectic Mg12Ce phase. The volume fraction and size of the eutectic Mgl2Ce phase increase with increasing Ce contents. Nano-indentation test results show that the indentation hardness and elastic modulus of the eutectic Mg12Ce phase are higher than those of the a-Mg matrix. in addition, the mean indentation hardness and elastic modulus of the Mg-xCe-0.5Zn alloys increase with the Ce addition amount increasing.

Microglia shape the synaptic environment in health and disease,but synapses do not exist in a ***,pre-and postsynaptic terminals are surrounded by extracellular matrix(ECM),which together with glia comprise the four elements of the contemporary tetrapartite synapse *** research in this area is still just beginning,accumulating evidence points toward a novel role for microglia in regulating the ECM during normal brain homeostasis,and such processes may,in turn,become dysfunctional in *** it relates to synapses,microglia are reported to modify the perisynaptic matrix,which is the diffuse matrix that surrounds dendritic and axonal terminals,as well as perineuronal nets(PNNs),specialized reticular formations of compact ECM that enwrap neuronal subsets and stabilize proximal *** interconnected relationship between synapses and the ECM in which they are embedded suggests that alterations in one structure necessarily affect the dynamics of the other,and microglia may need to sculpt the matrix to modify the synapses ***,we provide an overview of the microglial regulation of synapses,perisynaptic matrix,and PNNs,propose candidate mechanisms by which these structures may be modified,and present the implications of such modifications in normal brain homeostasis and in disease.

Second to fourth digit ratio： a predictor of adult lung function

Sex and sex hormones play a major role in lung physiology. it has been proposed that the ratio of the second to fourth digits （digit ratio） is correlated with fetal sex hormones. we therefore hypothesized that digit ratio might help predict lung function. we investigated the relationship between digit ratio and pulmonary function test （PFT） findings. A total of 245 South Korean patients （162 male, 83 female） aged from 34 to 90 years who were hospitalized for urological surgery were prospectively enrolled. Before administering the PFTs, the lengths of the second and fourth digits of the right hand were measured by a single investigator using a digital Vernier caliper. in males （n = 162）, univariate and multivariate analysis using linear regression models showed that digit ratio was a significant predictive factor of forced vital capacity （FVC） and forced expiratory volume in i second （FEV1）（FVC： r = 0.156, P = 0.047; FEVi： r = 0.160, P = 0.042）. in male ever-smokers （n = 69）, lung functions （FVC and FEV1） were correlated with smoking exposure rather than digit ratio. in female never-smokers （n = 83）, lung functions （FEV1 and FEVi/FVC ratio） were positively correlated with digit ratio on univariate analysis （FEVi： r = 0.242, P = 0.027; FEVi/FVC ratio： r = 0.245, P = 0.026）. Patients with lower digit ratios tend to have decreased lung function. These results suggest that digit ratio is a predictor of airway function.

Hybrid dielectric barrier discharges are investigated for plasma generated on the surface of a dielectric layer, where two conducting electrodes of high voltage and ground are formulated on the upper and bottom surfaces. Using a flexible thin polyimide-film of a thickness ranging from 25 to 125 μm, a plasma is generated with a voltage of about 1 kV and a frequency of 40 ***, the surface of the dielectric layer was etched through a chemical reaction involving plasma oxygen radical species, and thus the polyimide films failed readily, resulting in dielectric breakdown within short operating time ranging from a few minutes to several tens of minutes,based on the film thicknesses of 25 μm and 125 μm, respectively. These plasma erosions were prevented by coating the polyimide surface with a 25 μm thick silicone paste. The siliconecoated film surface was then reinforced remarkably against plasma erosion as the organic polymer was vulnerable to chemical reaction of the plasma species, while the inorganic silicone exhibited a high chemical resistance against plasma erosion.

Colloidal crystallization serves as one of the most economic and scalable production methods for photonic ***,insufficient optical performance,nonuniformity and low reproducibility remain challenges for advanced high-value *** this study,we optimally formulate a photocurable dispersion of silica particles and apply shear flow to unify the orientation of the colloidal crystals,ensuring high optical performance and *** silica particles experience strong repulsion at ultrahigh volume fractions of 50%but demonstrate low mobility,leading to polycrystalline *** shear flow to the dispersions allows the silica particles to rearrange into larger crystalline domains with a unidirectional orientation along the *** shear-induced structural change produces absolute reflectivity at the stopband as high as 90%and a high transparency of 90%at off-resonant wavelengths with minimal diffusive ***,the strong interparticle repulsion ensures a uniform volume fraction of particles throughout the dispersion,reducing deviations in the optical *** intricately micropattern the photocurable dispersions using ***,the photonic films and patterns can be stacked to form multiple layers,displaying mixed structural colors and multiple reflectance peaks without sacrificing *** superior photonic materials hold promise for various optical applications,including optical components and anticounterfeiting patches.
