CDC42 controls intestinal epithelial(IEC)stem cell(IESC)*** aberrant CDC42 initiates intestinal inflammation or neoplasia is *** utilized models of inflam-matory bowel diseases(IBD),colorectal cancer,aging,and IESC injury to determine the loss of intestinal Cdc42 upon inflammation and *** specimens were collected to determine the levels of CDC42 in IBD or colorectal ***42 floxed mice were crossed with Villin-Cre,Villin-CreERT2 and/or Lgr5-eGFP-IRES-CreERT2,or Bmi1-CreERT2 mice to generate Cdc42 deficient ***,colitis,aging,and intestinal organoid were used to evaluate CDC42 upon mucosal inflammation,IESC/progenitor regenerative capacity,and IEC *** studies revealed that increased CDC42 in colorectal cancer correlated with lower survival;in contrast,lower levels of CDC42 were found in the inflamed IBD *** Cdc42 depletion significantly reduced Lgr5+IEsCs,increased progenitors'hyperplasia,and induced mucosal inflammation,which led to crypt *** Cdc42 depletion markedly enhanced irra-diation-or chemical-induced *** or inhibition of Cdc42 reduced colonic Lgr5+IESC *** conclusion,depletion of Cdc42 reduces the IESC regeneration and IEC repair,leading to prolonged mucosal *** monogenic loss of Cdc42 in-duces mucosal inflammation,which could result in intestinal neoplasia in the context of aging.

A Rare Case of Aortic Valve Endocarditis and Acute Meningitis Due to haemophilus influenzae

hACEK organisms represent a rare but important group of causative pathogens in endocarditis. These bacteria have historically been associated with culture-negative endocarditis;however, modern laboratory techniques have made this less common. In this case, we present a 74-year-old man who presented with acute onset altered mentation, fever, and sepsis. he was ultimately found to have haemophilus influenzae meningitis, cerebral empyema, aortic valve endocarditis, psoas myositis, and L2 - L3 diskitis with osteomyelitis. Although hACEK organisms are commonly found in the oropharynx and upper respiratory tract in humans, our patient did not report recent preceding dental or ENT procedures. h. influenzae is responsible for approximately 0.16% of all cases of bacterial endocarditis, representing a very limited subset. Although generally considered low virulent pathogens, this case demonstrates the unusual extent of infection from a hACEK organism, h. influenzae, causing aortic valve endocarditis as well as atypical non-cardiac sequelae, including acute meningitis.

为更好地监测管道泄漏和控制水压,智能供水管网管理系统(简称“智管网”)正逐步应用于城市供水管网。传统的供水监测仪表和传感器多采用蓄电池供电,由于电池寿命与容量有限,使得在实时监测模式下需要经常更换电池,造成经济与人力的耗费。通过数值模拟研究和实验研发了一种结构简单、安装方便的内联闭式水力发电系统,消耗有限的水头便可为“智管网”感应和监测设备及数据传输装置提供可靠的电力,通过提高站点之间的通信频次来保障实时监控,同时避免频繁地更换电池。此外,该管道水轮机通过管道内的喇叭口与挡块设计来实现双向流发电。介绍了该系统的工作设计原理和仿真实验研究结果,以及实测的内联闭式水力发电运行数据。实验结果表明,该系统能够可靠地运行,可为下一步的研发提供宝贵的理论和应用基础。

A Model of the Sea-Land Transition of the Mean Wind Profile in the Tropical Cyclone Boundary Layer Considering Climate Changes

The tropical cyclone boundary layer(TCBL)connecting the underlying terrain and the upper atmosphere plays a crucial role in the overall dynamics of a tropical cyclone *** tropical cyclones approach the coastline,the wind field inside the TCBL makes a sea-land transition to impact both onshore and offshore *** better understanding of the wind field inside the TCBL in the sea-land transition zone is of great *** this end,a semiempirical model that integrates the sea-land transition model from the Engineering Sciences Data Unit(ESDU),huang's refined TCBL wind field model,and the climate change scenarios from the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6(CMIP6)is used to investigate the influence of climate changes on the sea-land transition of the TCBL wind flow in hong *** specifically,such a semiempirical method is employed in a series of Monte-Carlo simulations to predict the wind profiles inside the TCBL across the coastline of hong Kong under the impact of future climate *** wind profiles calculated based on the Monte-Carlo simulation results reveal that,under the influences of the most severe climate change scenario,slightly higher and significantly lower wind speeds are found at altitudes above and below 400 m,respectively,compared to the wind speeds recommended in the hong Kong Wind Code of *** findings imply that the wind profile model currently adopted by the hong Kong authorities in assessing the safety of low-to high-rise buildings may be unnecessarily over-conservative under the influence of climate *** the other hand,the coded wind loads on super-tall buildings slightly underestimate the typhoon impacts under the severe climate change conditions anticipated for coastal southern China.

Optical and thermal performance analysis of aerogel glazing technology in a commercial building of hong Kong

Improving the thermal insulation of glazing units is a common strategy of reducing building energy use for spacing *** paper newly examined the application of aerogel glazing technology in hong Kong by the means of laboratory testing and *** prototypes of granular aerogel glazing were selected to examine their optical properties,and the measured optical properties of aerogel were used to calculate the total window thermal performance indices.A typical 40-story commercial office building was chosen for energy simulation to compare the thermal performance of aerogel glazing with different glazing technologies in hong *** results showed that aerogel glazing could achieve the promising reduction of window heat gain up to 57%and cooling energy up to 8.5%compared with double *** heat insulation performance of aerogel glazing is even better than the double glazing with low-E coating in hong ***,aerogel glazing can be a good alternative of glazing to comply with the existing local Overall Thermal Transfer Value(OTTV)requirement and to reduce the building energy use for space cooling in hong Kong and other regions.

The use of role models for learning and publicity is widespread in *** comparing four sets of primary school textbooks complied and published by People’s Education Press between 1999 and 2005,this study reveals the similarities and differences between these textbooks with regard to the positive role models covered and the virtues *** major role models in both versions of the textbooks can be characterized as representing four main types of persons:children,han Chinese,males,and modern ***,the occupations of these role models are more diverse in the new textbooks,and the more recent editions place more emphasis on moral values such as“protecting the environment,”“loving peace,”and“promoting democratic cooperation.”The implications of the findings and the potential problems arising in the textbooks are discussed at the end,particularly noting the changing mode of regulation with regard to the individual-collective relationship.

Acute cholangitis: Does malignant biliary obstruction vs choledocholithiasis etiology change the clinical presentation and outcomes?

BACKGROUND Whether clinical outcomes of acute cholangitis(AC)vary by etiology is *** To compare outcomes in AC caused by malignant biliary obstruction(MBO)and common bile duct stones(CBDS).METhODS This retrospective study included 516 patients undergoing endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP)due to AC caused by MBO(MBO group,n=56)and CBDS(CBDS group,n=460).Clinical and laboratory parameters were compared between the *** score matching(PSM)created 55 matched *** used in the PSM analysis were age,sex,time to ERCP,and technical success of *** primary outcome comparison was 30-d *** secondary outcome comparisons were intensive care unit(ICU)admission rate,length of hospital stay(LOhS),and 30-d readmission *** Compared with the CBDS group,the MBO group had significantly lower body temperature,percentage of abnormal white blood cell counts,and serum levels of aspartate aminotransferase,alanine aminotransferase,and *** temperature,percent abnormal white blood cell count,and serum aspartate aminotransferase levels remained significantly lower in the MBO group in the PSM *** count,prothrombin time/international normalized ratio,and serum levels of alkaline phosphatase and total bilirubin were significantly higher in the MBO *** MBO group had a significantly higher percentage of severe AC(33.9%vs 22.0%,P=0.045)and received ERCP later(median,92.5 h vs 47.4 h,Phowever,the two differences were not found in the PSM *** 30-d mortality(5.4%vs 0.7%,P=0.019),ICU admission rates(12.5%vs 4.8%,P=0.028),30-d readmission rates(23.2%vs 8.0%,PhS(median,16.5 d vs 7.0 d,Phigher or longer in the MBO ***,only LOhS remained significant in the PSM *** analysis revealed that time to ERCP and multiple organ dysfunction were independent factors associated with 30-d *** MBO patients underwent ERC

Today we live in a world of hydrocarbon Energy Carriers, where Carbon is always used as a Carrier for hydrogen 1) Biomass (Ch1.44O0.66 or C6h12O6);2) Natural Gas [NG] (Ch4);3) Water Gas [C+h2O];4) Gasoline (C6h12, C7h18, C8h18, etc.);5) Kerosene (C17h36, C18h38, C19h40, C20h42, C21h44, C22h46, etc.) and;6) Crude Oil. The Carbon aggregates are all storable and have worthwhile, logistically manageable energy densities. But whenever recovering Energy from the Carbon molarities, CO2 gets emitted into the atmosphere, while separate use of hydrogen Energy contents carried by the Carbon moieties would just generate water vapor. hydrogen is also the most important intermediary in Refineries, hydrogenating lower grade hydrocarbons into higher potencies, or for removing Sulfur by the formation of hydrogen Sulfur, that can be dissociated after its segregation from the hydrocarbon products. But most of the internal hydrogen yields in Refineries today is used for onsite production of Ammonia as a basis for Energy fertilizers in high performance agriculture. Because hydrogen is awkward to store and transport, most of it is currently used captive within large size centralized plants as a reactant for producing hydrocarbon energy carriers, using the Carbon as a carrier for the hydrogen moieties, to then be distributed over big enough areas for consumption of the such large scale plants’ volumes. With recently proven achievements of hydrogen production from excess Wind & Solar Power by electrolysis, hydrogen could become available in abundant quantities, to be distributed locally within the coverage area of the transmission grid such Wind & Solar installations are feeding into. In combination with Carbon as a reactant such abundant hydrogen could also be synthesized into hydrocarbon Energy Carriers and substitute fossil commodities.
