metal oxides have a higher chemical stability in comparison to metals,so they can be utilized as electrocatalysts if the activity could be *** the composition,the morphology of the nanostructures has a considerable impact on the electrocatalytic *** this work,zinc oxide nano branches-attached titanium dioxide nanofibers were investigated as an economic and stable catalyst for ethanol electrooxidation in the alkaline *** introduced material has been synthesized by electrospinning process followed by hydrothermal ***,electrospinning of colloidal solution consisting of titanium isopropoxide,poly（vinyl acetate） and zinc nanoparticles was performed to produce nanofibers embedding solid *** order to produce TiO2nanofibers containing ZnO nanoparticles,the obtained electrospun nanofiber mats were calcined in air at 600 °*** formed ZnO nanoparticles were exploited as seeds to outgrow ZnO branches around the TiO2nanofibers using the hydrothermal technique at sub-critical water conditions in the presence of zinc nitrate and bis-hexamethylene *** morphology of the final product,as well as the electrochemical measurements indicated that zinc nanoparticles content in the original electrospun nanofibers has a significant influence on the electrocatalytic activity as the best performance was observed with the nanofibers synthesized from electrospun solution containing 0.1 g Zn,and the corresponding current density was 37 mA/***,this study paves a way to titanium dioxide to be exploited to synthesize effective and stable metal oxide-based electrocatalysts.

Therapeutic potential of Calotropis gigantea extract against invasive pulmonary aspergillosis:In vitro and in vivo study

Evaluation of phosphorus bioavailability in El mex Bay and Lake mariut sediments

Phosphorus(P) fractions and their bioavailability in the sediments from El mex Bay and Lake mariut in Egypt were investigated using different chemical extraction methods. Sodium bicarbonate(NaHC03)extractable P(Olsen-P) was the largest fraction(14.42%), followed by algal available P(AAP)(3.56%),water soluble P(WSP)(0.79%), and readily desorbable P(RDP)(0.06%) for El mex Bay. While AAP contributed 9.94% to total P in sediments from Lake mariut, Olsen-P 8.53%, WSP 4.11%, and RDP 0.92%.Summation of the bioavailable P fractions didn’t exceed the sediment quality guidelines, and, therefore, P doesn’t represent a danger to marine organisms. Correlation coefficients showed that no apparent relations between total P(TP) and iron(Fe), aluminum(Al), and calcium(Ca) in the sediments. Furthermore, Fe:P ratio was less than 15 indicting that there was not enough Fe in surface sediments to bind to P at most of the sampling sites. The positive correlation between TP and organic matter(Om) for Lake mariut and El mex Bay sediments indicated that the organic matter content of the sediment was a useful predictor of the total phosphorus content. Data from this study constitute a baseline of phosphorus bioavailability in sediments from El mex Bay and Lake mariut and could be used as a reference for future studies on the changes of bioavailable and residual phosphorus fractions over time.

Influence of host age and host deprivation on longevity, egg load dynamics and oviposition rate in microplitis rufiventris

Adult size, longevity, egg load dynamics and oviposition ofmicroplitis rufiventris kok. which began their development in the first, second, third （preferred hosts） or fourth （non-preferred hosts） instar larvae of Spodoptera littoralis （Boisd.） were studied. The parasitoid size was largely determined by the initial host size at parasitism. Non-ovipositing females derived from older hosts lived for longer periods than those derived from younger ones. However, the ovipositing females, irrespective of their size, lived for almost the same periods. At emergence, the oviducts of adult females contain a significant amount of mature eggs available for oviposition for a few hours on eclosion day. Egg load increases during the early phase of adult life. The amount of additional mature eggs and rate of egg maturation per hour was greater for wasps derived from preferred hosts compared with those in females derived from non-preferred hosts. The pattern of egg production in m. rufiventris females depended on the availability of hosts for parasitization. Host-deprived females depleted the egg complement with aging; the longer the host deprivation, the lower the oviduct egg load. marked reduction in both realized or potential fecundity of host-deprived females was observed following host availability. Host privation for more than 3 days induced a marked deficit fecundity pattern through the female＇ s life. The realized fecundity was determined by the interaction among host availability, the number of eggs that are matured over the female＇ s life span, oviposition rate and host size from which the female was derived. These results suggest that：（i） m. rufiventris wasp is a weak synovigenic species; （ii） the maturation of additional eggs is inhibited once the maximum oviduct egg load is reached; （iii） the egg load of the newly emerged female is significantly less than the realized fecundity; and （iv） because m. rufiventris females oviposit fewer eggs when they begin depleting their

Seasonality in the occurrence of two lepidopterous olive pests in Egypt

Prays oleae Bern, （Om） andPalpita unionalis Hfib., （Jm） are two of the most important pests in olive groves in Egypt. A 3-year monitoring study using sex pheromone traps in semi-arid and arid olive groves was performed. In the semi-arid grove, flight pattern of the Om was the same as in other mediterranean countries, but in dates concordating plant phenology. The moth completes three generations annually： the first flight is in march to April, the second is in may to June and the third occurs in August to October. In the arid olive grove, an interesting flight pattern was observed. First flight was always very close or overlapped with the second one with no male catches during August to October. However, eggs were present most of the season, indicating unusually high female presence and oviposition activity of the Om during the absence of males in the traps. Generally, moth densities were significantly lower in low fruiting years than in higher ones and were also lower in the arid olive grove than in the semi-arid one. In contrast, Jm males were present all season, exhibiting six to seven and three to four overlapping flight peaks in arid and semi-arid olive groves, respectively. moth densities were significantly higher in the arid olive grove than those in the semi-arid one. This study shows that trapping location and fruit beating year are characteristics that strongly affect the grove-specific information needed to estimate correctly adult emergence and thus the timing of control measures.

Osteoarthritis(OA)has been defined as a chronic inflammatory joint disease characterized by progressive articular cartilage *** growing interest in regenerative medicine,using cell therapy and tissue engineering,where cellular components in combination with engineered scaffolds and bioactive materials were used to induce functional tissue *** the present study,nanofibrous scaffold based on chitosan(CS)/poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA)were used to develop biologically functionalized biomaterial to mimic the extracellular matrix,allowing the human adipose tissue derived mesenchymal stem cells(ADSCs)to proliferate and differentiate to chondrogenic *** morphology of the nanofibrous mat was examined using field emission scanning electron microscope(FE/SEm).The characteristic functional groups and the nature of the chemical bonds between atoms were evaluated using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)*** of the seeded cells was morphologically evaluated by scanning electron microscopy and by flow cytometry for the expression of the stem cell surface *** differentiation potential was verified after chondrogenic induction by analyzing the expression of chondrogenic marker genes using real-time(RT PCR).Current study suggest significant potential for the use of ADSCs with the nanofibrous scaffolds in improving the osteoarthritis pathology.

Pattern of Failure and Treatment Results in Triple Negative Breast Cancer Patients

Background: Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) tends to present aggressively with rapid progression and poor survival. methods: We retrospectively reviewed patients’ files to define TNBC patients’ characteristics, predictive and prognostic factors, pattern of recurrence and survival. Results: 965 cases were identified. 147 patients (15.2%) were TNBC. 71.1% patients were premenopausal. T2, T3, T4 tumors represented 46.1%, 32% and 14.1%, respectively. N0, N1, N2, N3 disease represented 18.5%, 50.9%, 27.8% and 2.8%, respectively. Stages II, III & IV constituted 34.1%, 44.2% and 15.5%, respectively. 31.5% patients received neoadjuvant chemotherapy with 17.7% complete pathological response. 19.5%, 35.9%, 44.6% patients had unknown, ≤20 and >20 ki67, respectively. Among non-metastatic patients (n = 108), 21.3% patients developed relapse with median time to relapse of 11 months. 78.3% of them had visceral (88.3% lung) metastasis, 13% bone metastasis, 21.7% brain metastasis and 13% LRR. There is significantly high risk of relapse in patients with large tumor size [T4: 66.75%, T3: 22.9%, T2: 16.7%, T1: 0% (p = 0.002)], positive LNs [N3: 100%, N2: 37.9%, N1: 15.1%, N0: 4.3% (p 0.001)] and ki67 [>20: 31.6% versus 10.8% for ki67 ≤ 20 (P = 0.007)]. multivariate analysis revealed only T4 and N2-3 were significantly associated with high probability for relapse (P = 0.022 & 0.038). The 3-year DFS and OS were 73.2% and 75% respectively. For metastatic patients (n = 20), the m PFS was 7 months and m OS 1.5 years. Conclusion: Our data confirms the aggressive nature of TNBC with significant risk of relapse for patients with large tumor and positive lymph nodes. maintenance metronomic capecitabine, neoadjuvant/adjuvant immunotherapy could be beneficial for non-metastatic patients. Impact of Inulin Extracted, Purified from (Chicory and Globe Artichoke) Roots and the Combination with maltodextrin as Prebiotic Dietary Fiber on the Functional Properties of Stirred Bio-Yogurt

Inulin is a prebiotic dietary fiber that plays an integral role in producing functional dairy products with improved health benefits. Therefore, the objectives of this study are as follows: extract and purify inulin from chicory roots and globe artichoke roots;evaluate the physicochemical, functional properties and functional groups of the purified inulin;determine the functional properties of chicory roots inulin-maltodextrin and globe artichoke roots inulin-maltodextrin and compare it with that of the commercial inulin;examine the impact of various inulin on physiochemical, microstructural, textural, sensory characteristics and as prebiotic dietary fiber on probiotic bacteria’s viability of stirred bio-yogurt. The characteristics of the microstructure were investigated by scanning electron microscopy and, Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy to detect the functional group. The resulting inulin exhibited a high yield and purity along with enhanced functional properties. Stirred bio-yogurt fortified with chicory roots inulin or globe artichoke roots inulin showed enhanced physicochemical, microstructural, microbiological, and overall sensorial acceptability followed by chicory roots inulin-maltodextrin or globe artichoke roots inulin-maltodextrin and the commercial inulin as compared to the control. Stirred bio-yogurt samples can offer various health benefits and wide applications as supplement of prebiotic dietary fiber in dairy industry.

Role of Immunostaining in Detecting Extra-Pattern and Subtle Lymphomatous Infiltration in Bone marrow Biopsies of NHL Patients

Introduction: Immunohistochemistry (IHC) enables the examination of a greater number of trephine biopsy levels and is helpful in determining additional scattered malignant cells. The aim of this study is to detect extra-pattern and subtle lymphomatous infiltration in bone marrow biopsies using CD20 and CD3 immunostaining. Patients and methods: This study was conducted on 100 newly diagnosed Non Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL) patients. Their bone marrow trephine biopsies were assessed on routine histology [Hematoxylin and Eosin (H & E)], and were further subjected to IHC using CD20 and CD3. Results: Pattern of involvement by H & E was highlighted by IHC. It showed additional interstitial pattern in 9 cases, parasinusoidal streaks in one case and highlighted a patchy pattern in another case with interstitial involvement on H & E. IHC also detected subtle infiltrations on additional 5.5% cases compared with histology alone. It helped in differentiating reactive (12 cases) and malignant lymphoid infiltration (33 cases). Conclusion: CD20 and CD3 immunostaining performed routinely on bone marrow trephine biopsies has the ability to reveal extra-pattern of infiltration and improve detection of subtle lymphoid involvement. A combined procedure identifying several distinctive features, in particular histotopography and IHC, provides a promising way of discriminating reactive from neoplastic lymphoid infiltrates in bone marrow trephine biopsies.
