One of the major challenges in oncology is drug resistance,which triggers relapse and shortens patients’*** order to promote drug desensitization,cancer cells require the establishment of an ideal tumor microenvironment that accomplishes specific *** achieve this objective,cellular communication is a key ***,cells were believed to restrictively communicate by ligand-receptor binding,physical cell-to-cell interactions and ***,the crosstalk between tumor cells and stroma cells has also been recently reported to be mediated through exosomes,the smallest extracellular vesicles,which transport a plethora of functionally active molecules,such as:proteins,lipids,messenger RNA,DNA,microRNA or long non-coding RNA(lncRNAs).LncRNAs are RNA molecules greater than 200 base pairs that are deregulated in cancer and other *** lncRNAs are highly stable and can be found in several body fluids,being considered potential biomarkers for tumor liquid *** lncRNAs promote angiogenesis,cell proliferation and drug *** role of exosomal lncRNAs in drug resistance affects the main treatment strategies in oncology:chemotherapy,targeted therapy,hormone therapy and ***,knowing the molecular mechanisms by which exosomal lncRNA induce pharmacologic resistance could improve further drug development and identify drug resistance biomarkers.

Objectives： Burns are shown as a clinical problem for their severity and multiple complications due to the time required to heal. Therapies that improve their healing are of great importance, especially for being minimally invasive, of low cost and best performance, all related to the speed and quality of healing. This study investigated the effects of the magnetic electro stimulator Haihuá CD9 isolated or in association with Aloe vera in rats skin burns. Methods： Experimental groups （n = 30/group） were：（C） carbopol gel; （F） A. vera/carbopol gel; （H） Haihuá＋carbopol gel; （H＋F） Haihuá＋A. vera/carbopol gel. Samples were collected on the 7th, 14th, and 21st experimental days for structural and morphometric analysis, hydroxyproline and glycosaminoglycans quantification, zymography for MMP-2 and MMP-9 and Western Blotting for TGF-β1, VEGF, Collagen I and III. Key findings： The expression of TGF-β1 in H＋F was increased on the 7th day and of MMP-9 on the 7th and 14th days. The expression of VEGF increased in the first experimental periods and decreased in the last for the treated groups. There was an increase in the fibroblasts and birefringent collagen fibers in groups treated with Haihuá isolated or in association with A. vera in all periods. The quantification of collagen I increased, while collagen III decreased in H＋F. The higher amount of GAGs and MMP-2 active isoform was detected in H and H＋F during all periods. Conclusions： Considering the results of the present study, electromagnetic stimulation in association with the A. vera extract promoted an increase in the number of fibroblasts, GAGs content, MMP-2 activity, the deposition and organization of collagen fibers, favoring the repair of injuries to second degree burns, and may also present therapeutic potential in this injury type.

The increasing pollution in the atmospheric layer has meant world-wide temperature variations, causing the melting of icecaps and floods, among other environmental factors. This change in temperature has been mainly caused by the indiscriminate emission of CO2, especially due to the rising number of vehicles in circulation. Researchers have identified that, among other types of fuel, diesel has the highest level of CO2 emission. Hence the need for the development of biodiesel, produced from oleaginous plants, aimed at reducing the emission of this harmful gas into the atmosphere, besides using renewable resources. However, as in any automation process, it is necessary to have sensors, actuators, and controllers, which together perform the automation and control of the production process. Besides that, there are other process variables to be accounted for, such as temperature, flow, and level. Considering such concept, and within the academic context, the creation process of a mini biodiesel plant will be described.

Objective: To investigate the factors associated with malaria vivax infection in children and adolescents from an endemic area in the Eastern portion of the Brazilian Amazon basin. Methods: A case-control study was carried out in the municipality of Anajas, Brazil, from January 2016 to September 2017. Questionnaires were applied to the relative or the legal tutors of children and adolescents with questions regarding social and economic status, educational degree, knowledge about malaria, and the use of protective measures against mosquito bites. Anthropometric measures were performed in children and adolescents. Results: A total of 58 cases and 61 controls were included in the study. Most of the participants were male, eutrophics, and their relatives presented low educational degrees as well as low social and economic status. The knowledge of malaria was limited, but the percentage of individuals using long-lasting insecticidal nets was high. The presence of peri-domiciliary breeding sites for Anopheles vector was the most critical factor for malaria. Conclusion: The occurrence of malaria was associated with low social and economic status, a low educational degree, the unfamiliarity with malaria and the presence of breeding sites for Anopheles mosquito surrounding individual domiciles.

AIM: To evaluate the nutritional status and its association with proinflammatory cytokines in children with chronic liver ***: We performed a cross-sectional study with 43 children and adolescents, aged 0 to 17 years, diagnosed with chronic liver disease. All patients regularly attended the Pediatric Hepatology Unit and were under nutritional follow up. The exclusion criteria were fever from any etiology at the time of enrollment, inborn errors of the metabolism and any chronic illness. The severity of liver disease was assessed by Child-Pugh, Model for End-stage Liver Disease(MELD) and Pediatric End Stage Liver Disease(PELD) scores. Anthropometric parameters were height/age, body mass index/age and triceps skinfold/age according to World Health Organization standards. The cutoff points for nutritional status were risk of malnutrition(Z-score cause of chronic liver disease(72%). With respect to Child-Pugh score, cirrhotic patients were distributed as follows: 57.1% Child-Pugh A, a mild presentation of the disease, 34.3% Child-Pugh B, a moderate stage of cirrhosis and 8.6% Child-Pugh C, were considered severe cases. PELD and MELD scores were only above the cutoff point in 5 cases. IL-6 values were increased in patients at nutritional risk(34.9%) compared with those who were well-nourished [7.12(0.58-34.23) pg/m L vs 1.63(0.53-3.43) pg/m L; P = 0.02], correlating inversely with triceps skinfold-for-age z-score(rs =-0.61; P < 0.001). IL-6 levels were associated with liver disease severity assessed by Child-Pugh score(P = 0.001).

Local Cutaneous Effects Associated with Chlorhexidine-Impregnated Gel Dressing in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Patients

Introduction: Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) often requires a central venous catheter (CVC) for quick and safe vascular access. Currently, new technologies are available to protect the catheter insertion site, such as chlorhexidine-impregnated gel dressings (CIGD). Objectives: To evaluate local cutaneous effects associated with CIGD in patients undergoing HSCT. Methods: In this cross-sectional, prospective study, we evaluated 25 HSCT patients who had a CVC inserted. Patients were visited daily to monitor the CIGD changing procedures and evaluate abnormalities of the underlying skin after dressing removal. Findings: Local erythema was the most frequently detected abnormality, although usually transient and considered secondary to the mechanical trauma of dressing removal. The most severe lesions, consisting of areas of skin loss, erythematous plaques and/or vesicles were classified as skin irritation and presented in 11 (44%) of the 25 patients. An association test showed that skin irritation was more frequent in patients who underwent allogeneic HSCT (p = 0.03). Skin irritation was most frequently observed in areas of contact with the non-woven polyester adhesive tape (n = 22;88%), which made up the adhesive margins of the dressing. The CIGD was discontinued in 6 (54%) of the 11 patients who presented severe skin injuries. Conclusion: In this study, we detected that skin irritation was more frequent in patients who underwent allogeneic HSCT. The most common skin manifestation was skin loss.

Injectable Biological Bulking Agent to Treat Stress Urinary Incontinence in Women: A Feasibility Pilot Study

Background: Urinary incontinence mainly affects women regardless of age and, as it affects their quality of life, influences work, sex life and independence for activities of daily living. The treatment of stress urinary incontinence including urethral volume injection therapy can provide an intermediate option over non-surgical and surgical therapies. One of the mechanisms for stress continence depends on the effective coaptation of the urethra during the increase in intra-abdominal pressure. The bulking agents can be injected transurethral or periurethral retrogradely, using direct vision from a cystoscope. Purpose: To evaluate the feasibility and preliminary outcome performance of the bacterial polysaccharide gel used as biological bulking agent applied in female patients with stress urinary incontinence. Methods: A prospective clinical pilot study was performed, in a single institution, including female patients who were admitted to the urologic outpatient clinic with Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) without previous treatments and they were selected and underwent bulking agent procedure. The evaluation was performed at the time of enrollment and 6 months after treatment. The primary outcome was Quality of Life (QOL) using the ICIQ-SF Questionnaire. The amount of urine leakage measured by the 1-HOUR PAD-TEST was the second outcome. Results: Fifteen women (with an average age of 53 years) were submitted to the application of bacterial cellulose gel and she was analyzed. Only two patients presented unchanged incontinence. The study considered as primary outcome the improvement or disappearance of symptoms after six months of intervention. Post-intervention Quality of Life (QOL) questionnaire indicated that all of these patients related a better quality of life (62.5%). Through the PAD-test it was possible to observe a decrease in urinary leak of 85% comparing the results pre and post-intervention (Bca—Bacterial Cellulose Application) with p-value equal to 0.00000
