The 7075 Al alloy was processed by accumulative roll bonding （ARB） at 350 ℃ using 2：1, 3：1 and 4：1 thickness reductions per pass （Rp） up to 8, 6 and 3 passes, respectively. Microstructural examinations of the processed samples revealed that ARB leads to a microstructure composed of equiaxed crystallites with a mean size generally lower than 500 nm. It was found that, due to both the stored energy through- out the processing and the particle pinning effect, the alloy is affected by discontinuous recrystallisation during the inter-pass heating stages, the precise microstructural evolution being dependent on Rp. Me- chanical testing of the ARBed samples revealed that the main active deformation mechanism in the ARBed samples in the temperature range from 250 to 350 ℃ at intermediate and high strain rates is grain bound- ary sliding, the superplastic properties being determined by both the microstructure after ARB and its thermal stability.

The aim of this work is to predict,for the first time,the high temperature flow stress dependency with the grain size and the underlaid deformation mechanism using two machine learning models,random forest(Rf)and artificial neural network(ANN).With that purpose,a ZK30 magnesium alloy was friction stir processed(fSP)using three different severe conditions to obtain fine grain microstructures(with average grain sizes between 2 and 3μm)prone to extensive superplastic *** three friction stir processed samples clearly deformed by grain boundary sliding(GBS)deformation mechanism at high *** maximum elongations to failure,well over 400% at high strain rate of 10^(-2)s^(-1),were reached at 400℃ in the material with coarsest grain size of 2.8μm,and at 300℃ for the finest grain size of 2μ***,the superplastic response decreased at 350℃ and 400℃ due to thermal instabilities and grain coarsening,which makes it difficult to assess the operative deformation mechanism at such *** work highlights that the machine learning models considered,especially the ANN model with higher accuracy in predicting flow stress values,allow determining adequately the superplastic creep behavior including other possible grain size scenarios.

Bucaramanga, with a population of about one million, is the capital of the Department of Santander （Colombia）, and has the Rio Surata as its main source of drinking water. In the upper reaches of the river, small-scale gold mining has been going onfor many centuries （Vetas-California mining district）. Geologically, the Vetas-California mining district is part of the Santander Massif which is composed of pre-Devonian metamorphic rocks and Mesozoic igneous rocks. The mineralisation is restricted to structurally controlled veins and is often associated with hydrothermal alteration. There is also disseminated mineralisation, but presently only the vein-type is mined. The processing residues are discharged into the nearby watercourses, contaminating the waters of the Surata river basin. As part of a joint Colombian-German technical cooperation project, with the purpose of controlling the negative environmental effects of gold mining pollution, an integrated distillation system for the recovery of mercuury. has been designed and tested.

Disaster risk depends on both the physical vulnerability and a wide range of social, economic, and environmental aspects of a society. for a better risk understanding, a holistic or integrated perspective was considered when risk was assessed for the city of Manizales, Colombia. This assessment accounts not only for the expected physical damage and loss, but also for the socioeconomic vulnerability factors that favor secondorder effects in a disaster. This comprehensive approach allows the identification of different aspects related to physical vulnerability, social fragility, and lack of resilience that can be improved, thus enhancing integrated disaster risk management actions. The outcomes of this comprehensive assessment are currently being used as input to update the disaster risk management plan of Manizales.

food allergy (fA) is a disease with increasing prevalence and a wide spectrum of clinical manifestations. These include the eosinophilic disorders, which can involve any segment of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT), including the stomach. In this context, three patients with a confirmed diagnosis of food allergy, who were initially diagnosed with pyloric hypertrophy, are presented. All cases showed an adequate response to nutritional management. It is essential to consider food allergy, such as eosinophilic gastroenteritis, as part of the differential diagnosis of gastric outlet obstruction in those patients who present vomiting secondary to pyloric hypertrophy.

Occurrence of non-pathogenic nitrogen-fixing bacteria living within the plant tissue attracts considerable attention. The A15 strain was isolated from rice paddies in China (You and Zhou 1989, Can. J. Microbiol. 35:403-408). It can fix nitrogen under microaerobic conditions at the free-living state and it colonize rice endophytically. A15 is used as a plant growth promoting inoculant of rice in China.

Wheat bran aqueous extracts provide phosphate ions and other necessary but unknown biomolecules for synthesizing spherical microparticles of dicalcium phosphate dihydrate or Brushite, which is interesting for the food industry due to its delivering nutraceuticals properties. This study tests the hypothesis that proteins are the scaffold biomolecules over which the Brushite crystals grow. Brushite was synthesized from the wheat bran aqueous extract by adding calcium ions. Precipitated particles were characterized by x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive, and infrared spectroscopies, corroborating a single Brushite phase. The Brushite particles were demineralized for searching and identifying intracrystalline proteins through mass spectroscopy and bioinformatics. Six hundred and seventy-six proteins were identified in the Brushite and analyzed by their relative abundance and intrinsic disorder, giving 20 top proteins as scaffold candidates. Additionally, wheat bran aqueous extract was subjected to size exclusion chromatography to explore if a fraction is responsible for the Brushite synthesis. four chromatographic fractions were obtained and treated as the aqueous extract to induce mineralization. Three fractions produced Brushite, from which two produced spherical brushite particles with diameters between 50 and 200 mu m. Particle size and morphology in one of the latter fractions matched those precipitated by the raw aqueous extract. Results strongly suggest that specific proteins in the wheat bran aqueous extract may have a role as a scaffold in spherical Brushite biomineralization.
