Copper is a transition metal and an essential element f.r the organism,as alterations in its homeostasis leading to metal accumulation or def.ciency have pathological ef.ects in several organs,including the central nervous *** copper dysregulations have been evidenced in two genetic disorders characterized by mutations in the copper-ATPases ATP7A and ATP7B,Menkes disease and Wilson’s disease,respectively,and also in multif.ctorial neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease,Parkinson’s disease,amyotrophic lateral sclerosis,and multiple *** review summarizes current knowledge about the role of.copper in central nervous system physiology and pathology,reports about unbalances in copper levels and/or distribution under disease,describes relevant animal models f.r human disorders where copper metabolism genes are dysregulated,and discusses relevant therapeutic approaches modulating copper ***,alterations in copper metabolism may contribute to the etiology of.central nervous system disorders and represent relevant therapeutic targets to restore tissue homeostasis.

The gastrointestinal tract harbors a large number and diverse array of.commensal bacteria and is an important entry site f.r *** these reasons,the intestinal immune system is uniquely dedicated to protect against inf.ctions,while avoiding the development of.destructive inf.ammatory responses to the *** models have been proposed to explain how the immune system discriminates between,and appropriately responds to,commensal and pathogenic *** cells(DCs)and regulatory T cells(Treg)are instrumental in maintaining immune homeostasis and tolerance in the *** are virtually omnipresent and are remarkably plastic,having the ability to adapt to the inf.uences of.the *** DC populations with partially overlapping phenotypic and f.nctional properties have been described in dif.erent anatomical *** in the draining mesenteric lymph nodes,in the intestinal lamina propria and in Peyer's patches partake both in the control of.intestinal inf.ammation and in the maintenance of.gut *** this respect,gutresident DCs and macrophages exert tolerogenic f.nctions as they regularly encounter and sense commensal *** contrast,migrating DC subsets that are recruited to the gut as a result of.pathogenic insults initiate immune ***,tolerogenic DCs act by promoting the dif.erentiation and expansion of.Treg cells that ef.iciently modulate gut inf.ammation,as shown both in preclinical models of.colitis and in patients with inf.ammatory bowel disease(IBD).This article reviews the phenotypic and f.nctional f.atures of.gut DC subsets and discusses the current evidence underpinning the DC contribution to the pathogenesis of.the major clinical subtypes of.human *** also addresses the potential clinical benef.t derived f.om DC targeting either in vivo or in vitro.

The advent of.genomic big data and the statistical need f.r reaching signif.cant results have led genome-wide association studies to be ravenous of.a huge number of.genetic markers scattered along the whole *** its very beginning,the so-called genotype imputation served this purpose;this statistical and inf.rential procedure based on a known ref.rence panel opened the theoretical possibility to extend association analyses to a greater number of.polymorphic sites which have not been previously assayed by the used *** this review,we present a broad overview of.the genotype imputation process,showing the most known methods and presenting the main areas of.interest,with a closer look to the most up-to-date approaches and a deeper understanding of.its usage in the presentday genomic landscape,shedding a light on its f.ture developments and investigation areas.

Diversity and composition of.lepidopteran microbiotas are poorly investigated, especially across the dif.erent developmental stages. To improve this knowledge, we characterize the microbiota among dif.erent developmental stages of.the Indian meal moth, Plodia interpunctella, which is considered one of.the major pest of.commodities world-wide. Using culture-independent approach based on Illumina 16S rRNA gene sequencing we characterized the microbiota of.f.ur developmental stages: eggs, f.rst-, and last-instar larvae, and adult. A total of.1022 bacterial OTUs were obtained, showing a quite diversif.ed microbiota associated to all the analyzed stages. The microbiotas associated with P. interpunctella resulted almost constant throughout the developmental stages, with approximately 77% of.bacterial OTUs belonging to the phylum of.Proteobacteria. The dominant bacterial genus is represented by Burkholderia (?64%), f.llowed by Propionibacterium, Delf.ia, Pseudomonas, and Stenotrophomonas. A core bacterial community, composed of.139 OTUs, was detected in all the developmental stages, among which 112 OTUs were assigned to the genus Burkholderia. A phylogenetic reconstruction, based on the 16S rRNA, revealed that our Burkholderia OTUs clustered with Burkholderia cepacia complex, in the same group of.those isolated f.om the hemipterans Gossyparia spuria and Acanthococcus aceris. The f.nctional prof.ling, predicted on the base of.the bacterial 16S rRNA, indicates dif.erences in the metabolic pathways related to metabolism of.amino acids between preimaginal and adult stages. We can hypothesize that bacteria may support the insect host during preimaginal stages.

Dielectric nanocavities are emerging as a versatile and powerf.l tool f.r the linear and nonlinear manipulation of.light at the nanoscale. In this work, we exploit the ef.ective coupling of.electric and toroidal modes in AIGaAs nanodimers to locally enhance both electric and magnetic f.elds while minimizing the optical scattering, thereby optimizing their second-harmonic generation ef.iciency with respect to the case of.a single isolated nanodisk. We also demonstrate that proper near-f.eld coupling can provide f.trther degrees of.f.eedom to control the polari- zation state and the radiation diagram of.the second-harmonic f.eld.

We read with great interest the study by Way et al.1 published in this journal,which described and compared the acute changes in central arterial stif.ness(AS),wave ref.ections,and central hemodynamics(CH)in response to a bout of.high-intensity interval exercise(HIIE)and moderate-intensity continuous exercise(MICE)in adults with *** authors reported a signif.cant reduction in augmentation index(AIx)corrected by a heart rate(HR)of.75 beats/min(AIx@75)and central systolic blood pressure af.er HIIE,without signif.cant changes in the pulse wave velocity(PWV).In view of.this important research topic and our recent contributions to it,we would like to raise some points of.discussion that might help to better elucidate the f.ndings observed in the current study,and also suggest pertinent directions to f.rther studies.
