The burning of agricultural waste is a major cause of environmental *** this study,we sought to prepare biochar from agricultural waste as a source material for the preparation of carbon nanoparticles(CNPs).Surface morphology,hydrodynamic particle size,and purity and crystallinity of CNPs were extensively investigated using transmission electron microscopy(TEM),zeta sizing,and X-ray diffraction(XRD)spectroscopy,*** CNPs were subsequently immersed in a solution of potassium nitrate(KNO_(3))to prepare a CNPs/NK nanocomposite(CNPs loaded with nitrogen(N)and potassium(K))as a nanocomposite fertilizer for common bean(Phaseolus vulgaris L.).The CNPs/NK nanocomposite was sprayed as a foliar fertilizer at 0,10,20,30,and 40 mg L^(-1) on common bean plants 25 d after sowing on a farm in Shebin El-Kom,El-Monifia,*** growth,yield,and quality of common bean were investigated during two successive growing seasons(2017 and 2018).The highest seed yields of 2.04 and 2.01 t ha^(-1) and the highest values of growth parameters including plant height of 61.5 and 59.2 cm,number of leaves per plant of 35 and 35,number of flowers per plant of 83.3 and 82.7,and plant fresh weight of 148.7 and 152.8 g plant^(-1) were obtained when using the CNPs/NK nanocomposite at a concentration of 20 mg L^(-1) during the 2017 and 2018 growing seasons,respectively.

Early microbial recognition by the innate immune system is accomplished by Toll-like receptors(TLRs),with resultant initiation of a pro-inflammatory response against infecting *** spite of presence of an abundance of Toll-like receptors on the surface of the liver,gut bacteria does not elicit an inflammatory reaction in healthy individuals due to tolerance to these TLRs,suggesting that the inflammatory responses seen in the liver are the result of breakdown of this *** orthotopic liver transplantation is often life saving in many instances,death following this procedure is most commonly due to infection that occurs in up to 80%of transplant recipients,most commonly due to microbial causes in up to 70%of cases and viral infections in 20%,while fungal infections affect only 8%of *** probability of acquiring infection following hepatic transplantation is heightened due to affection of the innate immune defense mechanisms of the host following this *** nucleotide polymorphisms of TLRs have been associated with increased likelihood of either development of post-transplant infection or eradication of infecting ***,conflicting reports from other studies reveal that prevalence of this single nucleotide polymorphism is not increased in infected patients.

Methylprednisolone（MP） is currently the only drug confirmed to exhibit a neuroprotective effect on acute spinal cord injury（SCI）. Vitamin C（VC） is a natural water-soluble antioxidant that exerts neuroprotective effects through eliminating free radical damage to nerve cells. Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells（BMMSCs）, as multipotent stem cells, are promising candidates in SCI repair. To evaluate the therapeutic effects of MP, VC and BMMSCs on traumatic SCI, 80 adult male rats were randomly divided into seven groups： control, SCI（SCI induction by weight-drop method）, MP（SCI induction, followed by administration of 30 mg/kg MP via the tail vein, once every other 6 hours, for five times）, VC（SCI induction, followed by intraperitoneal administration of 100 mg/kg VC once a day, for 28 days）, MP ＋ VC（SCI induction, followed by administration of MP and VC as the former）, BMMSCs（SCI induction, followed by injection of 3 × 10~6 BMMSCs at the injury site）, and BMMSCs ＋ VC（SCI induction, followed by BMMSCs injection and VC administration as the former）. Locomotor recovery was assessed using the Basso Mouse Scale. Injured spinal cord tissue was evaluated using hematoxylin-eosin staining and immunohistochemical staining. Expression of transforming growth factor-beta, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, and matrix metalloproteinase-2 genes was determined using real-time quantitative PCR. BMMSCs intervention better promoted recovery of nerve function of rats with SCI, mitigated nerve cell damage, and decreased expression of transforming growth factor-beta, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, and matrix metalloproteinase-2 genes than MP and/or VC. More importantly, BMMSCs in combination with VC induced more obvious improvements. These results suggest that VC can enhance the neuroprotective effects of BMMSCs against SCI.

口译是一个跨文化的过程,口译员不仅在语言层面转化字词,更需要把意义传达到目标语中。为了确保传译过程成功,口译员必须保持流畅、准确易懂。然而,有时由于一些语言表达过程的问题(如冗余),实现这样的目标变得具有挑战性。口译过程中的冗余现象是常见的口译问题,但背后的原因却不尽相同。本论文研究了B-To-B传译中冗余的发生。据研究人员所知,这个问题没有被任何语言学家或翻译理论家详细提及并作为研究对象,因为口译员大多数情况下从事B语言到A语言的翻译,也有时从A语言翻译成B语言。从B语言翻译到B语言的情况较为少见。但在全球化快速发展的世界中,市场对多语言者的需求也在增长。笔者认为现在阐明并研究非母语者在口译过程中面临的让口译过程不流利的挑战有一定实践意义。本文试图探讨其中挑战之一“冗余”。以笔者的口译案例为研究对象,分析B语言译入B语言中冗余现象出现的具体表现,分析其原因,并提出相应对策。

Thermal Stability and Degradation of Chitosan Modified by Cinnamic Acid

The reaction of chitosan with cinnamic acid gave the corresponding N-cinnamoyl chitosan (NCC) polymer. The chem-ical structure of the modified polymer was characterized by IR, 1H-NMR and elemental analysis. Thermogravim- etric analysis reveals that the thermal stability of chitosan polymer is greater than NCC polymer. The activation energies of thermal degradation of chitosan and NCC polymers were determined using Arrhenius relationship. Thermal degradation of NCC polymer was studied and the products of degradation were identified by GC-MS technique. It seems that the mechanism of degradation of NCC polymer is characterized by elimination of low-molecular weight radicals. Combination of these radicals and random scission mechanism along the backbone chain are the main source of the degradation products.

Clinical Outcome of Definitive Radiotherapy and/or Surgery in T1-2N0M0 Glottic Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Single Institution Retrospective Report

Background: The current treatment options of early glottic carcinoma are radiotherapy;trans laser microsurgery, and open surgery. However, the best treatment is still controversial due to lack of randomized controlled trials. We aimed to evaluate the treatment results and the prognostic factors of local control of early glottic squamous cell carcinoma patients (GSCC) T1-2N0M0 treated at our institution. Material and Methods: We retrospectively studied the charts of 52 patients with early GSCC T1-T2N0M0 from 2010-2015 at the Clinical Oncology Department, Ain-Shams University. 24 patients had T1 and 28 had T2 early glottic carcinoma. The overall survival OS, local control rate, and laryngeal preservation rate were evaluated. Kaplan-Meier method, Cox proportional hazards model were used to analyze the data. Results: Median duration of follow-up was 13 months. Thirty-eight patients received radiation treatment alone (73.1%), 7.7% of the patients underwent surgery alone, and 19.2% of the patients had surgery combined with radiotherapy. Local recurrence after radiation failure developed in 6/52 patients, all had T2 disease and were salvaged by total laryngectomy. The ultimate local control rate was 88.5%, and the ultimate laryngeal preservation rate was 77.2% (40/52 patients). The median OS of the 52 patients was 13 months (range 2 - 46 months). Univariate analysis of factors associated with poor local control showed that age > 60 years was the only significant factor (P = 0.048). Conclusion: Radiotherapy achieves high local control and laryngeal preservation rates for patients with early glottic carcinoma, and is associated with a low rate of severe complications compared to surgery. Salvage surgery is feasible after radiotherapy failure.

Use of Cladophora glomerata Extract against Multidrug Resistant Bacterial Pathogens

The antibacterial effect of the crude methanol extracts and purified fractions of Ctadophora glomerata （Linnaeus） Kutzing （Cladophoraceae） against multidrug resistant human pathogen were investigated. The test bacterial strains were Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Streptococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli and S. typhimurium. Ethanol extract （0.5 mg/mL） of Cladophora glomerata inhibited growth of all the test organisms. Primary detection of active compounds showed that maeroalgae （Cladophora glomerata） containing flavonoids, alkaloids, phenols and tannins. Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry was used to know the compounds which responsible of antibacterial activity and they were g-Pentadecanone that was found to be a major compound （42.67%） followed by 8-Octadecanone （22.43%） and Salicylic acid （20.04%） in addition to 10-hexadecaden （8.01%）. These findings suggest the possibility of using the Cladophora glomerata as a novel source of natural antimicrobial agents in pharmaceutical industries.

Pharmacokinetics of Lithium in Egyptian Bipolar Patients: Dosage Adjustment Approach

Due to its proven clinical effectiveness, lithium has been considered as a corner stone for the long-term treatment of Bipolar Disorder (BPD) for more than half a century. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of patients’ different co-variables on lithium pharmacokinetics and the development of a pharmacokinetic model for the estimation of lithium clearance in Egyptian bipolar patients;this model can be used afterwards during dosage adjustment to achieve target’s steady-state plasma concentrations in similar settings. The study was conducted on 65 adult Egyptian bipolar patients of both genders, in both the in- and out-patient settings in the Institute of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. Patients’ full profiles were prepared, containing all their data. Single daily dose regimen was followed by all patients and one blood sample was drawn 12 ± 0.5 hours post dose for steady-state lithium concentration, sodium level and serum creatinine determinations. Lithium trough levels were determined using Flame Emission Photometry technique. Data analysis and regression modeling revealed a significant correlation between total body weight (TBW), body surface area (BSA) and lithium clearance. Due to multicollinearity, BSA was excluded from the basic non-linear regression equation and TBW was found to be the only covariate affecting lithium clearance. Mean lithium clearance was found to be 0.243 ± 0.097 Lit/Kg/day, ranging from 0.091 to 0.71 Lit/Kg/day.

The Effect of Oral Nifedipine versus Parenteral Magnesium Sulfate and Ritodrine for Tocolysis in Patients with Threatened Preterm Labor: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Background: Preterm labor is a serious cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality. This study aims to compare the effects of nifedipine, Magnesium sulfate and ritodrine as tocolytic drugs in patients presented with threatened preterm labor. Patients and Methods: The current study was randomized controlled trial conducted in Sohag Teaching Hospital between November 2015 and September 2016. Patients were divided into: Group A: 101 patients received intravenous ritodrine infusion;Group B: 101 patients received intravenous magnesium sulfate;Group C: 101 patients received oral nifedipine. Different maternal and neonatal outcomes were assessed. Results: The baseline criteria were homogenous among the study groups with no statistically significant differences. There is no difference between each other group regarding the need for additional tocolysis or the rate of recurrence of labour pains. Nifedipine was associated with the least length of hospital stay. There is no difference between all groups regarding the rate of preterm delivery before full steroid dose (p > 0.05). However, nifedipine group was the least one in the rate of occurrence of preterm delivery within 7 days from initiation of tocolytic therapy. Similarly, nifedipine group was associated with higher gestational age at delivery and significant prolongation of pregnancy than the other groups. Conclusion: Oral nifedipine use was associated with less recurrence of labor pains, less need for additional tocolysis, less duration of hospital stay, and more patient satisfaction in patients with threatened preterm labour.
