Neuronal activity,synaptic transmission,and molecular changes in the basolateral amygdala play critical roles in fear ***(CYLD)is a deubiquitinase that negatively regulates the nuclear factor kappa-B *** is well studied in non-neuronal cells,yet underinvestigated in the brain,where it is highly *** studies have shown involvement of CYLD in the remodeling of glutamatergic synapses,neuroinflammation,fear memory,and anxiety-and autism-like ***,the precise role of CYLD in glutamatergic neurons is largely ***,we first proposed involvement of CYLD in cued fear *** next constructed transgenic model mice with specific deletion of Cyld from glutamatergic *** results show that glutamatergic CYLD deficiency exaggerated the expression of cued fear in only male ***,loss of CYLD in glutamatergic neurons resulted in enhanced neuronal activation,impaired excitatory synaptic transmission,and altered levels of glutamate receptors accompanied by over-activation of microglia in the basolateral amygdala of male ***,our study suggests a critical role of glutamatergic CYLD in maintaining normal neuronal,synaptic,and microglial *** may contribute,at least in part,to cued fear expression.

Metal-ion hybrid capacitors,such as potassium-ion hybrid capacitors(PIHCs),are regarded as promising fast-charging energy storage ***,the kinetics mismatch between the battery anode and the capacitive cathode restricts their fastcharging *** constructing carbon anodes with enhanced kinetics is an innovative approach to address this ***,using epigallocatechin gallate with high oxygen content as the precursor,oxygen-enriched carbon materials(OEC)with tunable C=O content are successfully ***,the C=O content of OEC is regulated by adjusting the pyrolysis *** as an anode for PIHCs,OEC-600 with the highest C=O content exhibits an attractive fast-charging specific capacity of 135.2 mAh·g^(-1)at 20 A·g^(-1),along with a superior fast-charging cycling *** theoretical calculations,comprehensive kinetics analysis and in-situ Raman,the positive effects of C=O on the potassium storage capability and reversibility of OEC-600 are ***,PIHCs assembled based on an OEC-600 anode deliver impressive energy/power density of 145.1 Wh·kg^(-1)/45.9 kW·kg^(-1)and superior fast-charging cycling stability with 87.5%of capacity retention over 20,000 cycles at 5 A·g^(-1).This work is anticipated to provide an optional design concept toward the carbon anode for fast-charging PIHCs.

Experimental and numerical investigation on the dynamic shear failure mechanism of sandstone using short beam compression specimen

In this study,a novel testing method is proposed to characterize the dynamic shear property and failure mechanism of rocks by introducing the short beam compression(SBC)specimen into the split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)***,the stress distribution of SBC specimen is comprehensively analyzed by finite element method(FEM),and the results show that the optimal notch separation ratio of SBC specimen is C/H?0.2 to achieve successful dynamic simple-shear ***,dynamic shear tests are conducted on sandstone using the SBC-SHPB *** careful pulse shaping technique,the dynamic force balance is guaranteed for SBC specimens,and the testing results show that the dynamic shear strength of sandstone is significantly *** the results of dynamic compression and tension tests,the failure envelopes of sandstone under different loading rates are obtained in the principle stress *** is found that the failure envelope of sandstone constantly expands outwards with increasing loading ***,the energy partition of SBC specimen is quantified by virtue of high-speed digital image correlation(DIC)*** results show that the kinetic energy portion is non-negligible,and the shear fracture energy increases with increasing loading *** addition,the microscopic shear cracking mechanism of SBC specimen is analyzed by the thin section observation:the intra-granular(TG)fracture of minerals dominates the dynamic shear failure of sandstone,and the portion of TG fracture increases with increasing loading *** study provides a convenient and reliable method to investigate the dynamic shear property and failure mechanism of rocks.

Experimental and numerical investigation on the mechanical responses and cracking mechanism of 3D confined single-flawed rocks under dynamic loading

Accurately characterizing the mechanical responses and cracking mechanism of three-dimensional confined fractured rocks under coupled static-dynamic loading is of paramount importance for underground engineering *** a modified split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)system,five groups of single-flawed specimens with the axial prestress ratio from 0 to 0.8 are tested at the strain rates in the range of 65-205 s-1under a fixed radial *** results indicate that both the dynamic strength and total strength show significant positive linear correlations with the strain rate,and the dynamic strength shows more strain rate sensitivity under higher axial *** dynamic strength and corresponding failure strain decrease with increasing axial prestress,while the total strength is barely affected by the axial *** dynamic elastic modulus initially increases before the axial prestress ratio reaches 0.6 and then *** failure pattern of tested specimens changes from single diagonal failure to an“X”shaped conjugated failure as axial prestress ***,the progressive cracking processes of confined single-flawed specimens under different axial prestresses are numerically visualized by the discrete element method(DEM).Based on the displacement trend lines on both sides of cracking surface,five crack types are identified and classified in our *** displacement field distributions of the DEM models reveal that the macroscopic single diagonal failure under lower axial prestress is mainly controlled by mixed tensile-shear cracks,while the“X”shaped conjugated failure under higher axial prestress is shear dominated.

A Simple Approach to Control the Growth of Non-spherical Gold Nanoparticles

A simple method to prepare the non-spherical gold particles was developed. The result solution included trigonal, truncated trigonal, hexagonal layers, and a pseudo-pentagonal shaped gold nanocrystals. The key factor is to control the relative rates of nucleation and cluster growth in this method. These attributes make seeding growth method as a useful tool in the fabrication of colloidal metal materials. A longitudinal plasmon resonance of 866 nm was observed, which is in the near-IR spectral regions (600-1000 nm). The excellent optical properties as near-IR labels are used to develop highly sensitive analysis method.

Classification and counting on multi-continued fractions and its application to multi-sequences

In the light of multi-continued fraction theories, we make a classification and counting for multi-strict continued fractions, which are corresponding to multi-sequences of multiplicity m and length n. Based on the above counting, we develop an iterative formula for computing fast the linear complexity distribution of multi-sequences. As an application, we obtain the linear complexity distributions and expectations of multi-sequences of any given length n and multiplicity m less than 12 by a personal computer. But only results of m=3 and 4 are given in this paper.

Feasibility Analysis of the Operation Strategies for Combined Cooling, Heating and Power Systems (CCHP) based on the Energy-Matching Regime

Although numerous studies have considered the two traditional operation strategies:following the electric load(FEL)and following the thermal load(FTL),for combined cooling,heating,and power(CCHP)systems in different case studies,there are limited theoretical studies on the quantification methods to assess the feasibility of these two strategies in different load demands ***,instead of a case study,we have undertaken a theoretical analysis of the suitable application scenarios for FEL and FTL strategies based on the energy-matching performance between systems'provision and users'*** compare the calculation models of energy saving rate(ESR)for FEL and FTL strategies in the left and right sub-regions of the energy-supply curve,a comprehensive parameter(^)that combines three inherently influential factors(off-design operation parameter,energy-matching parameter,and install capacity coefficient)is defined to determine the optimal installed capacity and feasibility of FEL or FTL strategies *** results indicate that greater value of x contribute to a better energy saving performance,and FEL strategy shows better performance than FTL in most load demands scenarios,and the optimal installed capacity occurs when the load demand points were located in different regions of the energy-supply ***,taking a hotel in Beijing as an example,the value of the optimal install capacity coefficient is 0.845 and the FEL strategy is also suggested,and compared to the maximum install capacity,the average values of the ESR on a typical summer day,transition season,and winter can be enhanced by 3.9%,8.8%,and 1.89%,respectively.

Study on environmentally friendly refrigerant R13I1/R152a as an alternative for R134a in automotive air conditioning system

Aiming at solving the problem of high global warming potential of R134 a,a new mixed refrigerant R13 I1/R152 a(molar fraction ratio of 35:65)with no ozone depletion potential and low global warming potential was proposed as a substitute for R134 a in automotive air *** computational models for the thermodynamic properties of R13 I1/R152 a were established by using the PR(Peng-Robinson)equation of state combined with the vdW mixing *** on these models,the cycle performance of this working fluid was calculated,which was also compared with that of R134 a and R1234 yf under the different operating *** results show that R13 I1/R152 a is a near azeotropic refrigerant whose temperature glide is approximately 0,and the saturated vapor pressure curve of which is equivalent to that of R134 ***,compared to R134 a,R13 I1/R152 a has an average 5.7%improvement in coefficient of performance as well as similar volumetric cooling *** average coefficient of performance and volumetric cooling capacity of R13 I1/R152 a are significantly higher than those of R1234 yf by 13.8%and12.0%,***,the average discharge temperature of R13 I1/R152 a is approximately13.3 K higher than that of R134 a,but it is also within reasonable ***,the application of the proposed refrigerant R13 I1/R152 a in automotive air conditioning system is technically feasible.

Hydrogen-induced marginal growth model for the synthesis of graphene by arc discharge

High-quality graphene is prepared by arc discharge with low cost under hydrogen atmosphere. However, the growth mechanism of graphene synthesis by arc discharge remains unclear. In this paper, the hydrogen-induced marginal growth(HIMG) model is deduced to study the growth mechanism of graphene by combining experiment with numerical simulation results. First, the characteristics of thick edges and thin middle and containing hydrogen are verified by transmission electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy, respectively. In addition, numerical simulation provides the chemical species and temperature range of graphene growth. Second, the marginal growth pattern of hydrogen transfer and carbon addition is introduced because the C–H and C–C reduce configuration energy and island energy, respectively. Meanwhile, the stacking growth at the margin of the graphene island leads to the longitudinal growth of graphene because of the Van der Waals force and the effect of self-assembly,increasing the number of graphene layers. Finally, graphene sheets with a small amount of hydrogen are deposited on the inner wall after annealing. The investigation of the growth mechanism of graphene under hydrogen atmosphere lays a foundation for the large-scale preparation of graphene by arc discharge.

Hypoxia-preconditioned bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells protect neurons from cardiac arrest-induced pyroptosis

Cardiac arrest can lead to severe neurological impairment as a result of inflammation,mitochondrial dysfunction,and post-cardiopulmonary resuscitation neurological *** preconditioning has been shown to improve migration and survival of bone marrow–derived mesenchymal stem cells and reduce pyroptosis after cardiac arrest,but the specific mechanisms by which hypoxia-preconditioned bone marrow–derived mesenchymal stem cells protect against brain injury after cardiac arrest are *** this end,we established an in vitro co-culture model of bone marrow–derived mesenchymal stem cells and oxygen–glucose deprived primary neurons and found that hypoxic preconditioning enhanced the protective effect of bone marrow stromal stem cells against neuronal pyroptosis,possibly through inhibition of the MAPK and nuclear factor κB ***,we transplanted hypoxia-preconditioned bone marrow–derived mesenchymal stem cells into the lateral ventricle after the return of spontaneous circulation in an 8-minute cardiac arrest rat model induced by *** results showed that hypoxia-preconditioned bone marrow–derived mesenchymal stem cells significantly reduced cardiac arrest–induced neuronal pyroptosis,oxidative stress,and mitochondrial damage,whereas knockdown of the liver isoform of phosphofructokinase in bone marrow–derived mesenchymal stem cells inhibited these *** conclude,hypoxia-preconditioned bone marrow–derived mesenchymal stem cells offer a promising therapeutic approach for neuronal injury following cardiac arrest,and their beneficial effects are potentially associated with increased expression of the liver isoform of phosphofructokinase following hypoxic preconditioning.
