A biosynthetic gene cluster for the bioactive fungal sesterterpenoids variecolin(1)and variecolactone(2)was identified in Aspergillus aculeatus ATCC *** production of 1 and 2 was achieved in Aspergillus oryzae by expressing the sesterterpene synthase VrcA and the cytochrome P450 ***,the replacement of VrcB with homologous P450s from other fungal terpenoid pathways yielded three new variecolin analogues(5-7).Analysis of the compounds’anticancer activity in vitro and in vivo revealed that although 5 and 1 had comparable activities,5 was associated with significantly reduced toxic side effects in cancer-bearing mice,indicating its potentially broader therapeutic *** study describes the first tests of variecolin and its analogues in animals and demonstrates the utility of synthetic biology for creating molecules with improved biological activities.

Cubic Mn_(2)Ru_(x)ga Heusler compound is a typical example of compensated ferrimagnet with attractive potential for high-density,ultrafast,and low-power spintronic *** the form of epitaxial thin films,Mn_(2)Ru_(x)ga exhibits high spin polarization and high tunability of compensation temperature by freely changing the Ru content x in a broad range(0.3ga-based polycrystalline bulk buttons prepared by arc melting are systematically studied and it is found that in equilibrium bulk form,the cubic structure is unstable when xga is alloyed with a fourth element *** adjusting the content of V in the By adjusting the content of V in the Mn_(2)Ru_(0.75)V_(y)ga and Mn_(2.25-y)Ru_(0.75)V_(y)ga quaternary systems the magnetic compensation temperature is *** is achieved near 300 K which is confirmed by both the magnetic measurement and anomalous Hall effect *** analyses of the anomalous Hall effect scaling in quaternary Mn-Ru-V-ga alloy reveal the dominant role of skew scattering,notably that contributed caused by the thermally excited phonons,in contrast to the dominant intrinsic mechanism found in many other 3d ferromagnets and Heusler *** is further shown that the ga antisites and V content can simultaneously control the residual resistivity ratio(RRR)as well as the relative contribution of phonon and defect to the anomalous Hall effect a"/a0'in Mn-Ru-V-ga,resulting in a scaling relation a"/a0'∝RRR^(1.8).

Several targeted upper extremity injury prevention programs have been developed to mitigate the risk of upper extremity overuse injuries among.y.uth athletes in overhead sports;however,their effectiveness on performance outcome measures has not been *** systematic review evaluated the effectiveness of existing upper extremity injury prevention programs that focused on modifying intrinsic risk factors,and performance outcome measures in overhead youth *** secondary aim was to identify the training components of these ***,Physiotherapy Evidence Database(PEDro),SPORTDiscus(via EBSCOhost),and Web of Science were searched from January 2000 to November 2020 for studies that implemented training programs or exercises for upper extremity injury prevention among.y.uth athletes in overhead throwing or striking *** updated search was conducted from December 2020 to October 2022.A program was deemed effective for a performance outcome measure if significant improvements were observed in the intervention group as compared to the control *** the 1394 studies identified,five studies met the inclusion *** effectiveness of the injury prevention programs on the identified performance outcome measures of strength,mobility,and sport-specific measures were 30.4%,28.6%,and 22.2%,*** training components targeted were strength,mobility,and *** was the most common training component and was also the most widely investigated performance outcome ***,current upper extremity injury prevention programs seem effective at improving performance outcome measures of strength,mobility,and sport-specific outcomes with training components of strength,mobility and *** protocols are required for the measurement and reporting of performance outcomes measures,and the reporting of training components.

Quality vs. quantity of publications in nanotechnology field from the People’s Republic of China

This study evaluates trends in quality of nanotechnology and nanoscience papers produced by au- thors from the People’s Republic of China (PRC). The metric used to gauge quality is ratio of highly cited nanotechnology papers to total nanotechnology papers produced in sequential time frames. The USA is both the most prolific nanotechnology publishing country and most represented country on highly cited nanotechnology papers (both in absolute numbers of highly cited papers and highly cited papers relative to total publications) over the 1998―2003 time frame, based on the SCI/SSCI databases. Some of the smaller hi-tech countries have relatively high ratios (~2) of highly cited papers to total publications (e.g. Denmark, Netherlands, Switzerland). Countries that have exhibited rapid growth in SCI/SSCI nanotechnology paper production in recent years (e.g. PRC, South Korea) had ratios an order of magnitude less than that of the USA for 1998, but by 2003 had increased to about 20% that of the USA (~2.5). PRC and South Korea have climbed in the publications rankings from 6th and 9th in 1998, re- spectively, to 2nd and 6th in 2005, respectively. PRC’s ratio monotonically increased from 0.16 to 0.45 over the 1998―2003 period, and South Korea’s ratio increased from 0.11 to about 0.6 over that same period, indicating their papers are getting more and more citations proportionately. Thus, under rapid growth conditions, PRC and South Korea have been able to increase their share of participation in highly cited papers. As of 2003, PRC and South Korea have ratios comparable to nations like Japan, France, Italy, and Australia but not yet approaching those of the highly cited countries. None of the top ten publications producing institutions are from the USA, while all of the top ten highly cited publica- tions producers are from the USA. Cellulose nanocrystal(CNC)is a biomaterial derived from plant lignocellulosic components,widely applied in various industrial ***,with the growth of awareness in developing green nanomaterial,the explored Washingtonia fibre could be alternative biomass for obtaining CNC *** the present work,different acid concentrations of 5%,15%,and 25%hydrochloric solutions were employed to produce CNCs from Washingtonia *** the chemical treatments,the yield of the CNC product was successfully retained at 21.6%-25.1%.Individually separated and needle-shaped CNC particles could be observed under the microscopic viewing with the increased acid *** elemental analysis,a relatively pure cellulose compartment was produced for all CNC *** zeta potential values between-10 to-16 mV proved that each nanoparticle sample possessed dispersion ability within an aqueous ***,the degree of crystallinity and the thermal behavior of CNCs were enhanced with the increased acidic ***,the isolated CNCs(with 15%)from Washingtonia fibre lead a CNC with the highest aspect ratio(30).This parameter is so important that these structures show empowering points of view as nanomaterials for reinforced polymer composites,and it could be a reliable nano-filler for the composite fabrication process in the future.

Let P（g,A） be the chromatic polynomial of a graph g. A graph g is chromatically unique if for any graph H, P（H, λ） = P（g, λ） implies H is isomorphic to g. Liu et al. [Liu, R. y., Zhao, H. X., ye, C. F.： A complete solution to a conjecture on chromatic uniqueness of complete tripartite graphs. Discrete Math., 289, 175 179 （2004）], and lau and Peng [lau, g. C., Peng, y. H.： Chromatic uniqueness of certain complete t-partite graphs. Ars Comb., 92, 353-376 （2009）] show that K（p - k,p - i,p） for i = 0, 1 are chromatically unique if p ≥ k ＋ 2 ≥ 4. In this paper, we show that if 2 〈 i 〈 4, the complete tripartite graph K（p - k,p - i,p） is chromatically unique for integers k ≥ i and p 〉 k2/4 ＋ i ＋ 1.

Dear Editor,Triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)is an aggressive breast cancer subtype enriched in cancer stem cells(CSCs),which is characterized by high malignancy and drug resistance.1 The PI3K/Akt signaling cascade is frequently hyperactivated in *** and non-redundant functions of the three Akt isoforms in tumorigenesis,however,have not been studied *** is noteworthy that despite a few isoform-specific substrates have been identified for Akt1 and Akt2,an Akt3-specific substrate is yet to be *** have previously shown that overexpression of Akt3,but not Akt1 or Akt2,plays an essential role in TNBC growth and therapeutic resistance of breast cancer.2 However,the role of Akt3 in TNBC CSCs remains unclear.
