Although T cells are known to be involved in the pathogenesis of coronary artery disease, it is unclear which subpopulation of T cells contributes to pathogenesis in acute myocardial infarction （MI）. We studied the immunological characteristics and clinical impact of CD8＋CD57＋ T cells in acute MI patients. The frequency of CD57＋ cells among CD8＋ T cells was examined in peripheral blood sampled the morning after acute MI events. Interestingly, the frequency of CD57＋ cells in the CD8＋ T-cell population correlated with cardiovascular mortality 6 months after acute MI. The immunological characteristics of CD8＋CD57＋ T cells were elucidated by surface immunophenotyping, intracellular cytokine staining and flow cytometry. Immunophenotyping revealed that the CD8＋CD57＋ T cells were activated, senescent T cells with pro-inflammatory and tissue homing properties. Because a high frequency of CD8＋CD57＋ T cells is associated with short-term cardiovascular mortality in acute MI patients, this specific subset of CD8＋ T cells might contribute to acute coronary events via their pro-inflammatory and high cytotoxic capacities. Identification of a pathogenic CD8＋ T-cell subset expressing CD57 may offer opportunities for the evaluation and management of acute MI.

A consistent empirical embedded-atom potential that includes a long range force was developed for fcc （face-centered cubic） metals and alloys. The proposed potential for pure metals does not require modification of the initial function form when being applied to alloy systems. The potential parameters of this model were determined by fitting lattice constant, three elastic constants, cohesive energy, and vacancy formation energies of the pure metals and the heats of solution of the binary alloys via an optimization technique. Parameters for Ag, AI, Au, Cu, Ni, Pd and Pt were obtained. The obtained parameters were used to calculate the bulk modulus, divacancy formation energy, crystal stability, stacking fault energy, vacancy migration energy, and melting point for each pure metal and the heats of formation and lattice constants for binary alloys. The predicted values were in good agreement with experimental results.

AIM：To explore the role of prostaglandin F2α（PGF2α） on pacemaker activity in interstitial cells of Cajal（ICC）from mouse small intestine. METhoDS：In this study,effects of PGF2αin the cultured ICC cells were investigated with patch clamp technology combined with Ca 2＋ image analysis. RESULTS：Externally applied PGF2α（10μmol/L）produced membrane depolarization in current-clamp mode and increased tonic inward pacemaker currents in voltage-clamp *** application of flufenamic acid（a non-selective cation channel inhibitor）or niflumic acid（aCl channel inhibitor）abolished the generation of pacemaker currents but only flufenamic acid inhibited the PGF2α-induced tonic inward *** addition,the tonic inward currents induced by PGF2αwere not inhibited by intracellular application of 5’-[-thio]diphosphate trilithium *** with Ca 2＋ free solution, U-73122,an active phospholipase C inhibitor,and thapsigargin,a Ca 2＋ -ATPase inhibitor in endoplasmic reticulum,abolished the generation of pacemaker currents and suppressed the PGF2α-induced tonic inward ***,chelerythrine or calphostin C,protein kinase C inhibitors,did not block the PGF2α-induced effects on pacemaker *** recording intracellular Ca 2＋（[Ca 2＋ ]i）concentration using fluo-3/AM,PGF2α broadly increased the spontaneous[Ca 2＋ ]i oscillations. CONCLUSION：These results suggest that PGF2αcan modulate pacemaker activity of ICC by acting non-selective action channels through phospholipase C-dependent pathway via[Ca2＋]i regulation

Precise fluorescence imaging of single l-DNA molecules for base pair distance analysis requires a superresolution technique, as these distances are on the order of diffraction limit. Individual l-DNA molecules intercalated with the fluorescent dye YOYO-1 were investigated at subdiffraction spatial resolution by direct stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy（d STORM）. Various dye-to-DNA base pair ratios were imaged by photoswitching YOYO-1 between the fluorescent state and the dark state using two laser sources. The acquired images were reconstructed into a super-resolution image by applying Gaussian fitting to the centroid of the point spread function. By measuring the distances between localized fluorophores, the base pair distances in single DNA molecules for dye-to-DNA base pair ratios of 1：50,1：100, and 1：500 were calculated to be 17.1 0.8 nm, 34.3 2.2 nm, and 170.3 8.1 nm[17_TD$IF], respectively,which were in agreement with theoretical values. These results demonstrate that intercalating dye in a single DNA molecule can be photoswitched without the use of an activator fluorophore, and that super-localization precision at a spatial resolution of 17 nm was experimentally achieved.

Feasible economic strategies to improve screening compliance for colorectal cancer in Korea

ABM: While colorectal cancer (CRC) is an ideal target for population screening, physician and patient attitudes contribute to low levels of screening uptake. This study was carried out to find feasible economic strategies to improve the CRC screening compliance in Korea. METhoDS: The natural history of a simulated cohort of 50-year-old Korean in the general population was modeled with CRC screening until the age of 80 years. Cases of positive results were worked up with colonoscopy. After polypectomy, colonoscopy was repeated every 3 years. Baseline screening compliance without insurance coverage by the national health insurance (NHI) was assumed to be 30%. If NHI covered the CRC screening or the reimbursement of screening to physicians increased, the compliance was assumed to increase. We evaluated 16 different CRC screening strategies based on Markov model. RESULTS: When the NHI did not cover the screening and compliance was 30%, non-dominated strategies were colonoscopy every 5 years (COL5) and colonoscopy every 3 years (COL3). In all scenarios of various compliance rates with raised coverage of the NHI and increased reimbursement of colonoscopy, COL10, COL5 and COL3 were non-dominated strategies, and COL10 had lower or minimal incremental medical cost and financial burden on the NHI than the strategy of no screening. These results were stable with sensitivity analyses. CONCLUSION: Economic strategies for promoting screening compliance can be accompanied by expanding insurance coverage by the NHI and by increasing reimbursement for CRC screening to providers. COL10 was a cost-effective and cost saving screening strategy for CRC in Korea.

ZnO thin films were grown on Si （100） substrates by pulsed laser deposition using a ZnO *** substrate temperature was varied in the range of room temperature to 800 ℃,and the oxygen partial pressure of 0.1333 Pa （1 m Torr） to 1333 Pa （10 Torr）.The properties of the resulting films were investigated by photoluminescence （PL）,grazing incidence X-ray diffraction （GIXRD）,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS）,and field emission scanning electron microscopy （FESEM）.Based on the ultraviolet （UV,～380 nm） to visible emission ratio in the PL spectrum,the optimum growth conditions were determined to be 600 ℃ and 133.3 Pa （1 Torr）,*** oxygen 1s peak in the XPS spectrum was decomposed into two *** peak at lower binding energy increased in intensity with the oxygen partial pressure from 0.1333 Pa （1 m Torr） to 133.3 Pa （1 Torr） while the other peak *** GIXRD curve at the optimum condition showed strong two peaks （002） and （103）.A strong correlation between the （103） peak intensity and the UV emission intensity was found.

The fabrication process of Sm2O3 doped CeO2 reinforced Ti3AlC2 nano composites including the nano particle dispersion process by a hetero-coagulation process was developed using in-situ synthesis and densification process of Ti3AlC2. The effects of Sm2O2 doped CeO2 nano particles on mechanical properties of Ti3AlC2 were investigated. It was found that the presence of 20SDC nano particles in Ti3AlC2 was very effective to improve the mechanical properties of Ti3AlC2 without spoiling the unique characteristics of Ti3AlC2temary carbide.
