<i>In Vitro</i>Propagation and Recovery of Eight Apple and Two Pear Cultivars Held in a Germplasm Bank

Eight apple (Malus x domestica) and two pear (Pyrus communis) traditional cultivars of commercial interest were selected from the germplasm bank CIAM (Centro de Investigaciones Agrarias de Mabegondo, NW of Spain) one of the most important collections of The Iberian Peninsula. In order to define the establishment protocol, apical buds 1.0 - 1.5 millimetre length of the selected cultivars were established in solid mineral medium Murashige and Skoog (MS) with modified vitamins (thiamine 10X) and supplemented with 1 mg·L-1 6-benzyladenine (BA), 0.2 mg·L-1 gibberellic acid (GA3) and 0.3 mg·L-1 of indole-3-butyric acid (IBA). The highest shoot initiation rates were achieved with apple cultivar “Principe Grande” (55%) and “Barburiña” pear cultivar (50%);the lowest rate was obtained with apple cultivar “Camoesa” (11%). Initiation rates for shoots culture varied between 22% and 37% for the other cultivars. The cytokinins BA, zeatin, 2-isopentyladenine (2iP) and thidiazuron (TDZ) were tested at concentrations of 0, 0.25, 0.5 and 1 mg·L-1 in the absence or presence of IBA (0.1 mg·L-1) for the multiplication step. For all cultivars, the highest multiplication rates were obtained with medium supplemented with TDZ and also in media containing BA. The in vitro rooting success of shoots in medium with 0.1 mg·L-1 IBA without cytokinins, and the survival rate of plantlets acclimatized under greenhouse conditions depended on the genotype of the different cultivars. In vitro propagation of these ten traditional apple and pear cultivars in NW Spain has not previously been reported.

We consider a phytoplankton-zooplankton interaction model which depends on two complementary nutrients. For a realistic representation in chemostat plankton ecosystem, we have incorporated various natural phenomena such as dissolved limiting nutrients with nutrient uptake functions and yield constants. For the model with two different constant nutrient inputs with same constant washout rate, existence and stability of non-negative equilibria as well as persistence are given. We analyze the behavior of solution of model in order to answer the biological question and seek to determine the limiting behavior of the surviving organisms and the nutrients. It is observed that the constant nutri- ent inputs of two complementary nutrients play an important role to change steady state behavior of the system. Further it is observed that if the dilution rate of chemostat crosses certain critical value, the system enters into Hopf-bifurcation. Finally, we have derived the explicit algorithm which determines the direction of Hopf-bifurcation. Computer simulations have been carried out to illustrate different analytical results.

Nowadays, more and more users share real-time news and information in micro-blogging communities such as Twitter, Tumblr or Plurk. In these sites, information is shared via a followers/followees social network structure in which a follower will receive all the micro-blogs from the users he/she follows, named followees. With the increasing number of registered users in this kind of sites, finding relevant and reliable sources of information becomes essential. The reduced number of characters present in micro-posts along with the informal language commonly used in these sites make it difficult to apply standard content-based approaches to the problem of user recommendation. To address this problem, we propose an algorithm for recommending relevant users that explores the topology of the network considering different factors that allow us to identify users that can be considered good information sources. Experimental evaluation conducted with a group of users is reported, demonstrating the potential of the approach.

The effects of in-situ generated coinage nanometals（Cu,Ag and Au） on crystallization behavior,microstructure,thermal and mechanical properties of SiO2-MgO-Al2O3-B2O3-K2O-MgF2（BMAPS） glassceramics were systematically *** addition of coinage nanometai,the glass transition temperature（Tg） is increased by 20-30 ℃,crystallization temperature（Tc） by 30-50 ℃ and dilatometric softening temperature（Td） by 10-25 ℃.It was found that the density of Cu-containing glass was 2.59 g cm-3and for other glasses it was in the range of 2.56-2.57 g *** the non-isothermal differential scanning calorimetry study,the activation energy of crystallization for BMAPS base glass was calculated as 344 kJ/mol,and changed to 406,334 and 274 kJ/mol on addition of Cu,Ag and Au-nanometals,*** evolved in the opaque BMAPS glass-ceramics derived by controlled heat treatment,were identified as fluorophlogopite mica(KMg3(AlSi3O10)F2) by X-ray diffraction（XRD） technique and confirmed by Fourier transformed infrared *** of copper,silver and gold nanometals were also identified by XRD *** is found from field emission scanning electron microscopy that the interlocked grain like microstructure developed in BMAPS glass-ceramics（being heat-treated at 1050 ℃ for 4 h） changed to denser house-of-cards like microstructure（containing smaller sized mica crystals） on addition of coinage *** of BMAPS base glass-ceramic was 2.60 g cm-3and marginally changed to 2.61-2.62 g cm-3on addition of Cu,Ag and *** change in microstructure resulted in the decrease of Vickers micro hardness value from 5.37 to 4.12,4.20 and 4.58 GPa on addition of Cu,Ag and Au,*** nanometai doped mica glass-ceramics containing interlocked microstructure with higher thermal expansion coefficient,hence,is suitable for high temperature sealing application（like solid oxide fuel cell）.

Objective:To evaluate the presence and antibiogram pattern of Salmonella and Staphylococcus aureus(***)in retail poultry meat ***:Foodborne pathogens(Salmonella and ***)were isolated from poultry meat and confirmed with the help of biochemical and immunological *** of the isolates were examined by following CLS1 ***:A total number of 209 poultry meat samples were collected and studied in this *** of which,5.26%were found contaminated with Salmonella while 18.18%were found contaminated with *** the Salmonella and *** isolates were found resistant to at least one *** 72.72%of the Salmonella isolates showed resistance to tetracycline,while *** isolates were also found highly resistant to tetracycline equal to 44.73%.One of the Salmonella isolates showed multi-drug resistance to almost six antibiotics out of nine antibiotics used in the *** resistant *** isolates were also found in the ***:The study confirmed the presence of Salmonella and *** in retail poultry *** is a potential threat to consumer *** reduce the risk of contamination,good hygiene practices are necessary from processing to storage.

Cooperation in spectral sensing （SS） offers a fast and reliable detection of primary user （PU） transmission over a frequency spectrum at the expense of increased energy consumption. Since the fusion center （FC） has to handle a large set of data, a duster based approach, specifically fuzzy c-means clustering （FCM）, has been extensively used in energy detection based cooperative spectrum sensing （CSS）. However, the performance of FCM degrades at low signal-to-noise ratios （SNR） and in the presence of multiple PUs as energy data patterns at the FC are often found to be non-spherical i.e. overlapping. To address the problem, this work explores the scope of kernel fuzzy c-means （KFCM） on energy detection based CSS through the projection of non-linear input data to a high dimensional feature space. Extensive simulation results are shown to highlight the improved detection of multiple PUs at low SNR with low energy consumption. An improvement in the detection probability by ～6.78% and ～6.96% at -15 dBW and -20 dBW, respectively, is achieved over the existing FCM method.

Decisions made by foraging animals conform a complex process based on the integration of information from multiple external environmental stimuli and internal physiological signals,which in turn are modulated by individual experience and a detection threshold of each *** social insects in which foraging is limited to given age subcastes,individual foraging decisions may also be affected by ontogenetic shifts and colony *** studied the short-term changes in foraging preferences of the generalist wasp Vespula germanica,focusing on whether the individual response to different resources could be influenced by the ontogenetic shifts and/or by social interaction with *** carried both laboratory and field experiments to confront worker wasps to a short-term resource switch between either protein or carbohydrate-based *** tested the response of(1)Preforager workers(no foraging experience nor interaction with other wasps),(2)Forager workers(experience in foraging and no colony feedback),and(3)Wild forager workers(foraging naturally and exposed to free interactions with nestmates).We evaluated the maxilla-labium extension response(MaLER)for laboratory assays or the landing response for field *** observed that for wasps deprived of colony feedback(either preforagers or foragers),the protein-rich foods acceptance threshold increased(and thus a lower level of foraging on that item was observed)if they had foraged on carbohydrates previously,whereas carbohydrates were accepted in all ***,wasps immersed in a natural foraging context did accept protein foods regardless of their first foraging experience and reduced the carbohydrates collected when trained on protein *** provide evidence that short-term changes in foraging preferences depend on the type of resource foraged and on the social interactions,but not on ontogenetic shifts.
