Factors influencing farmers’adoption of solar water-pumping systems in Gujarat

Agriculture has played an important role in the growth of the Indian *** and electricity are essential inputs for agriculture *** produces the third-largest amount of electricity in the world,behind China and the *** an incentive to increase production,most states provide free electricity to *** electricity has decreased groundwater levels and increased electricity *** objective of this study was to find out the factors that influenced farmers to adopt a solar water-pumping system in *** samples were randomly *** study examined the entire state of *** hundred and fifty farmers who adopted solar water-pumping systems were interviewed,including 50 banana farmers,50 cotton farmers and 50 groundnut *** data were collected through an *** adoption of solar water-pumping systems by farmers was identified using factor *** software was used to analyse the data *** this study,only two factors contributed to the variance of 59.469%.The adoption of solar water pumps by farmers was influenced by government policy and economic *** economic benefit variance of 33.20%was found,while a government policy variance was 26.27%.A solar water-pumping system has low initial costs,flexible credit policies motivate adoption,solar water-pumping systems can save electricity,and maintenance and repair costs are *** policy that includes solar water-pumping systems is motivated by awareness,subsidies for adoption and a fair price to sell energy *** are recommended to adopt a solar water-pumping system in conjunction with a drip irrigation system to receive additional *** successful scheme will be recommended to other states in India for implementation.

Inhibitory effects of resveratrol on human mast cell degranulation, cytokine, chemokine and leukotriene release

Resveratrol, a polyphenol abundant in peanuts, red wine and the skin of grapes, has been shown to have anti-cancer, anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, and may also have beneficial effects on allergic inflammation. We investigated the effects of resveratrol on human mast cell activation in comparison to the anti-allergy drug tranilast. In LAD2 mast cells, both resveratrol and tranilast inhibited degranulation induced by the mast cell activators substance P, IgE/anti-IgE, and compound 48/80. Resveratrol inhibition was immediate, preventing degranulation when added simultaneously to physiological stimuli, and the effect was sustained for up to 24 hrs. The inhibitory effect was not cAMP dependent, but may be attributable to calcium modulation, as resveratrol, and to a lesser extent tranilast, prevented substance P-induced increases in intracellular calcium. Resveratrol attenuated substance P-induced TNF and MCP-1 production and inhibited IgE-mediated release of cysteinyl leukotrienes, whereas tranilast was ineffective. Furthermore, both resveratrol and tranilast reduced expression of the high affinity IgE receptor, FcεRI, on LAD2 cells. The effects of resveratrol on mast cell activation were more marked in human primary CD34+-derived mast cells (HuMC), and the polyphenol was significantly more efficacious than tranilast in these cells. In conclusion, resveratrol inhibited key aspects of human mast cell activation to physiological stimuli, and was comparable, if not more efficacious than the anti-allergy drug tranilast. Thus, resveratrol may be an effective therapeutic agent for the treatment of allergic disease.

Amperometric Determination of Serum Cholesterol with Pencil Graphite Rod

A cholesterol oxidase from Streptomycin sp. was immobilized onto pencil graphite rod and employed for amperometric determination of serum cholesterol. The method has the advantage over earlier amperometric methods that it requires low potential to generate electrons from H2O2, which does not allow ionization of serum substances. The optimum working conditions of amperometric determination were pH 6.8, 25?C and 30 s. The current measured was in proportion to cholesterol concentration ranging from 1.29×10-3 to 10.33×10-3 M. Minimum detection limit of the method was 0.09 ×10-3 M. Mean analytical recovery of added cholesterol (100 mg/dl and 200 mg/dl) in serum was 85.0% & 90.0% respectively. Within batch and between batch coefficients of variations were 1.59% & 4.15% respectively. A good correlation (r = 0.99) was obtained between serum cholesterol values by standard enzymic colorimetric method and the present method. No interference by metabolites was observed in the method. Increasing competition in service businesses (eg: Information Technology, Healthcare, Education, Logistics, Distribution, Hospitality Financial and other services) is compelling corporates to adopt business improvement philosophies and methodologies for addressing customer demands for better quality service and organizational demands for improving the profit margins through cost reduction. Many companies around the world have already implemented Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) as a way to manage and control their Information Technology (IT) Departments more effectively. These companies are now willing to improve their ITIL processes in order to become even more efficient. Lean Six Sigma is a methodology that has been suggested as a means to resolve these problems, reducing costs and improving quality. Its application in the IT Services area is becoming increasingly popular among researchers and academicians and can be used to conduct these improvements. Despite the application of lean six sigma approaches to different contexts in the service sector, the application of Lean Six Sigma approaches in service delivery specific to Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) remains largely untested. The purpose of this paper is to implement Integrated Lean Six Sigma for Software application support services and evaluate the benefits of continual service improvement over ITIL.

Cholesterol esterase (Cease) from bovine pancreas and cholesterol oxidasc (COD) from Bravibacterium recombinant type have been innobilized individually and co-immobilized onto arylamine glass (pore diameter 55nm) through the process of diazotization. Cease and COD retained 92.65% and 85.54% of the initial activity with conjugation yields of 7.2 mg/g and 8.3mg/g support respectively when imnobilized individually on arylamine glass beads, but retained 89.58% of the initial activity with a conjugation yield of 2.9 mg/g support when co-immobilized on the same support. The effects of pH, temperature, time of incubation, substrate concentration, serum inorganic salts & metabolites, thermal stability, storage stability in cold and reusability on the immobilized enzymes were studied and compared with those of free enzymes. The analytic use of both individually immobilized and co-immobilized enzymes in discrete analysis of total and free cholesterol in serum is demonstrated.
