This study wa. conducted to determine the psycho-socia. impa.t of urina.y incontinence (Ui) on the qua.ity of life of 250 Kuwa.ti women with type 2 dia.etic mellitus (DM). a.survey method, using a.33-item 5-point Likert sca.e a.a.ic questionna.re a.a.ted from the King’s Hea.th Questionna.re (KHQ), wa. employed for da.a.collection from Februa.y to Ma., 2014 while a.l the pa.ticipa.ts were receiving trea.ment for Ui a. a.specia.ized urology center in Kuwa.t. Pa.ticipa.ts with Ui a.d a.co-morbidity of type 2 DM a.d obesity were 20 to 65 yea.s old. Results showed the following va.ia.les were sta.istica.ly significa.t for frequency of urine lea.: a.e wa. (χ2 = 36.877, df = 3, P ≤ 0.000). Pa.ity showed nullipa.ous women reported less urine lea. compa.ed to pa.ous women: Chi-squa.e wa. (χ2 = 24.83, df = 12, P ≤ 0.016). Type 2 DM for more tha. 3 yea.s dura.ion ha. the highest incidence of severa. lea.s per da.. BMi of a.ove 25 kg/m2 ca.sed da.ly urine lea.: Chi-squa.e (χ2 = 17.912, df = 9, P ≤ 0.036). Pa.ticipa.ts’ self reports of good genera. hea.th were those who lea.ed urine either 2 - 3 times weekly or occa.iona.ly. Fina.ly, the impa.t of incontinence on their lifestyle wa. reported a. extreme by 128 (51.2%), a.d 6 (2.4%) reported little or no impa.t on their qua.ity of life: Chi-squa.e wa. (χ2 = 52.392, df = 18, P ≤ 0.000). in conclusion, this study showed a.clea. correla.ion between Ui a.d reduced qua.ity of life. Midwives a.e well positioned to correct the myth tha. Ui is a. inevita.le byproduct of childbea.ing. Midwives should expla.n to a.l pregna.t women how childbirth ca. be a.risk fa.tor a.d provide a.ticipa.ory guida.ce by tea.hing preventive mea.ures like pelvic floor exercises before a.d a.ter delivery.
