Metal ions are essential for plant growth and development,but in excess,these compounds can become highly *** have adopted numerous ways to maintain metal homeostasis while mitigating adverse effects of excess metal ions,including phytochelatin and the metal-chelating proteins metallothioneins(MTs).A family of cysteine(Cys)-rich,intracellular,and low-molecular-weight(4-8 kDa)MTs are proteins found in nearly all phyla including plants,animals,and fungi,and they have the potential to scavenge reactive oxygen species and detoxify toxic metals including copper,cadmium,and *** on their Cys numbers and residues,MTs have been categorized into three major *** I MTs,which have highly conserved Cys residues,are found in animals,while class II MTs,with less conserved Cys residues,are present in plants and are classified further into four *** III MTs include phytochelatins,a group of enzymatically synthesized Cys-rich *** MTs have been an area of interest for five decades with extensive studies,which have been facilitated by advancements in instrumental techniques,protein science,and molecular biology ***,we reviewed current advances in our understanding of the regulation of MT biosynthesis,their expression,and their potential roles in the alleviation of abiotic stresses(i.e.,drought,salinity,and oxidative stresses)and heavy metal detoxification and homeostasis.

Hepatitis B is a well-known risk factor for the development of fiver cancer and is closely associated with patient morbidity and mortality. Viral mutants and variants have the potential to evade immune response and prolong infection, and thus it is crucial to develop a methodology for the rapid identification of multi-strain hepatitis infections in patients. Here we describe a method based on selective region amplification of viral genome and deep sequencing, which may be used for rapid identification of multi-strain hepatitis B virus （HBV） infection in patients. The method works even with significantly low amounts of patients＇ serum samples, where the wet-lab procedures take about 1.5 days, followed by a quick bioinformatic analysis to reveal the final results. Our method can potentially be applied to the rapid and reliable identification of multi-strain HBV infection and help improve treatment regiments.

In this research article,we interrogate two new modifications in inverse Weierstrass iterative method for estimating all roots of non-linear equation *** modifications enables us to accelerate the convergence order of inverse Weierstrass method from 2 to *** analysis proves that the orders of convergence of the two newly constructed inverse methods are *** computer algebra system Mathematica,we find the lower bound of the convergence order and verify it *** planes of the inverse simultaneous methods and classical iterative methods are generated using MATLAB(R2011b),to present the global convergence properties of inverse simultaneous iterative methods as compared to classical *** non-linear models are taken from Physics,Chemistry and engineering to demonstrate the performance and efficiency of the newly constructed *** CPU time,and residual graphs of the methods are provided to present the dominance behavior of our newly constructed methods as compared to existing inverse and classical simultaneous iterative methods in the literature.

Commercial grade rolled and electrodeposited copper foils from Japan and China were selected, and their mechanical properties and microstructure were investigated. It was observed that there are notable differences in fracture strength, elongation at break and hydrophilicity between rol- led and electrodeposited copper foils. The rolled copper foils have higher tensile strength, lower ductility and larger static contact angle than electrodeposited copper foils. The rolled copper foils contain a [^-fiber texture, and the electrodeposited copper foils have random crystalline orientations. It was also observed that the rolled foils have packed grains, and elec- trodeposited foils have equiaxial grains. The uniform fine grain size and a few substructures of Japanese electrode- posited foils are major reasons for their higher elongation.

Artemisia annua is a medicinal plant rich in terpenes and flavonoids with useful biological activities such as antioxidant,anticancer,and antimalarial *** transcriptional regulation of flavonoid biosynthesis in *** has not been *** this study,we identified a YABBY family transcription factor,AaYABBY5,as a positive regulator of anthocyanin and total flavonoid contents in ***5 was selected based on its similar expression pattern to the phenylalanine ammonia lyase(PAL),chalcone synthase(CHS),chalcone isomerase(CHI),and flavonol synthase(FLS)genes.A transient dual-luciferase assay in Nicotiana bethamiana with the AaYABBY5 effector showed a significant increase in the activity of the downstream LUC gene,with reporters AaPAL,AaCHS,AaCHI,and *** yeast one-hybrid system further confirmed the direct activation of these promoters by *** expression analysis of stably transformed AaYABBY5 overexpression,AaYABBY5 antisense,and control plants revealed a significant increase in the expression of AaPAL,AaCHS,AaCHI,AaFLS,AaFSII,AaLDOX,and AaUFGT in AaYABBY5 overexpression ***,their total flavonoid content and anthocyanin content were also found to ***5 antisense plants showed a significant decrease in the expression of flavonoid biosynthetic genes,as well as a decrease in anthocyanin and total flavonoid *** addition,phenotypic analysis revealed deep purple-pigmented stems,an increase in the leaf lamina size,and higher trichome densities in AaYABBY5 overexpression ***,these data proved that AaYABBY5 is a positive regulator of flavonoid biosynthesis in *** study provides candidate transcription factors for the improvement of flavonoid concentrations in *** and can be further extended to elucidate its mechanism of regulating trichome development.

Background:Laboratory biosafety is currently a major global issue in clinical research and academic *** alleviate these concerns,subject-specific education of standardized laboratory practices is essential and should be delivered in a comprehensible,interactive,and appealing *** objective of the present study was to engage university-level students in laboratory biosafety and biosecurity related education through the Socratic method of learning.A pre/post-test model was implemented to assess the knowledge improvement after the ***:Two workshops were conducted individually at a public and private educational institute in October 2019 and December 2019,*** concepts were delivered in an interactive engagement format to ensure substantive ***-and post-training scores were computed,and a paired t-test was used to assess knowledge ***:Out of the 357 students from both institutes,320(90%)provided consent and completed the preand post-test *** participants lacked a baseline knowledge of laboratory biosafety.A statistically significant increase(14%to 84%)in knowledge was reported among students,with a p-value of<*** improved in the post-test assessment,where 87%were high performers,and only 1%were low-performing *** difference between the pre-and post-test mean scores was indicative of a substantial 70%improvement in *** exhibited high levels of satisfaction with the Socratic method of teaching ***:The study highlighted the significance of the Socratic style of learning for engaging students and improving their knowledge and awareness of laboratory biosafety in academic settings in Pakistan.

BACKGROUND Hip fractures are the most common reason for inpatient orthopaedic trauma *** surgical intervention for hip fractures has remained a clinical priority throughout the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)*** this,there is a paucity of clinical guidance addressing the informed consent process for hip fracture surgery in COVID-19 positive *** is of paramount medicolegal importance in a high-risk patient *** To quantify the additional perioperative risks for COVID-19 positive patients undergoing hip fracture surgery and provide clinicians with an evidence-based framework to establish an informed consent *** Two hundred and fifty nine consecutive patients undergoing surgical intervention for hip fractures in four hospitals in the United Kingdom were recruited.51 patients were confirmed positive for *** outcomes were analyzed over a 30-d postoperative ***-19 positive and COVID-19 negative patients were compared after adjustment for confounding *** COVID-19 positive patients had more intensive care admissions(27%vs 5%,P<0.001),longer inpatient stays(median 23 d vs 9 d,P<0.001)and a higher 30-d mortality(29%vs 10%,P=0.001)than COVID-19 negative *** complications were evident in 74.5%of COVID-19 positive patients.35.3%of COVID-19 positive patients suffered postoperative lower respiratory tract infections with 13.7%developing acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS)and 9.8%experiencing symptomatic thromboembolic *** The COVID-19 pandemic has created uncertainty in the medical community worldwide and poses unique challenges in providing informed consent for ***-19 positive patients undergoing hip fracture surgery should be consented for the additional risk of postoperative complications(including lower respiratory tract infection,ARDS,deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism),increased requirement for intensive care admission,lo

反应堆主泵(RCP)是核电站(NPP)中最重要的组件之一。RCP位于核岛的中心位置,属于核安全一级设备。它是驱动冷却剂循环来冷却堆芯并将热量从堆芯传导到蒸汽发生器的设备。反应堆的正常运行和NPP冷却剂泵的安全是非常重要的。RCP在高速,高压,高温以及放射性环境下运行。在设计主泵时,必须研究适当的模型和运行条件,因为RCP叶轮的叶片处于重载下,可能会导致泵失效(由于叶轮变形)。在RCP内部,流场显示冷却剂趋向于撞击叶轮,并在叶片表面产生小的裂缝。计算RCP内的水力应力是一个重要的问题。因此,在运行条件下使用先进的数值模拟方法对泵的结构进行了模拟,以确保泵在正常工作条件下完美地运行。华龙1号NNP(福建省福清市)叶轮用于研究冷却剂对RCP叶轮的影响。用于模拟冷却剂对泵叶轮的影响的工具是SolidWorks 和 Ansys CFX。本文设计了反应堆冷却剂泵叶轮的三维有限元模型。运用计算流体动力学以了解通过叶轮的流体流动和由流体施加的液压。然后将这些压力施加在叶轮上以查看叶轮的应力应变和变形。本文所做的工作可以总结如下。1.总结了世界各国对反应堆主泵的研究现状。根据RCP(M310)叶轮的运行参数设计。2.利用SOLIDWORKS软件建立叶轮三维模型,并将该模型应用于ANSYS中进行CFX网格划分和CFD仿真。从CFX模拟中,创建了叶轮周围的流场,并分析了流体施加在固体上的压力。还讨论了计算流体动力学的简要理论,控制方程和湍流模型。3.简要讨论了有限元方法,并将CFX计算得到的压力值导入叶轮上。4.结果表明:叶轮叶片边缘发生最大变形。叶片和轮毂的连接处出现最大应力和应变。通过增加叶片根部厚度变形可以确定容易开裂的叶轮区域,可以减小应力和应变。

BACKGROUND Fractional flow reserve(FFR)measurement is commonly used in the cardiac catheterization laboratory to assess the functional significance of coronary arterial *** real-world data on complications and modes of failure of FFR guidewires are *** To characterize these outcomes by analyzing the post-marketing surveillance data from the United States Food and Drug Administration Manufacturer and User Facility Device Experience(MAUDE)database for commonly used FFR *** The MAUDE database was queried from January 2010 through April 2020 for 3 FFR guidewires[PressureWireTM X(Abbott),CometTM(Boston Scientific),and VerrataTM(Philips)]by searching for the following events:“Injury”,“malfunction”,“death”,and“other”.This yielded 544 *** excluding incomplete reports,486 reports were *** Guidewire tip fracture was the most commonly reported mode of failure,in 174(35.8%)cases followed by guidewire kinking(n=152,31.3%),communication failure(n=141,29.0%),and shaft fracture(n=67,13.8%).In total,133(27.4%)device failures resulted in patient adverse *** most common adverse event was retained guidewire tip,in 71(53.4%)cases,followed by freshly deployed stent dislodgment(n=26,19.6%)and coronary artery dissection(n=23,17.3%).Seven deaths were *** FFR guidewire failures can occur because of various mechanisms and cause patient adverse *** MAUDE database serves as an important platform for improved collaboration among clinicians,device manufacturers,and regulators to improve device performance and optimize patient *** analysis provides mechanistic insights of FFR guidewire failure and associated adverse events but cannot verify causality or provide a comparison among different guidewires.
