The oxide supports play a crucial role in anchoring and promoting the active metal species by geometric confinement and chemical *** design and synthesis of the well-defined oxide support with specific morphology such as size,shape,and exposed facets have attracted extensive research efforts,which directly reflects on their catalytic *** this study,using an Au/CeO_(2)-nanorod model catalyst,we demonstrate an edge effect on the Au/CeO_(2)interfacial structure,which shows a prominent effect on the structure-performance relationship in the CO oxidation *** specific“edge-interface”structure features an“edge-on”Au nanoparticles position on rod-shaped CeO_(2)support,confirmed by atomic-scale electron microscopy characterization,which introduces additional degrees of freedom in coordination environment,chemical state,bond length,and *** with theocratical calculations and in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy(DRIFTS)investigations,we confirmed that this“edge-interface”has distinct adsorption properties due to the change of O vacancy formation energy as well as the chemical states of Au resulting from the electron transfer and redistribution between the metal and the *** results demonstrate a non-conventional geometric effect of rod-shaped supported metal catalysts on the catalytic performance,which could provide insights into the atomic-precise utilization of catalysts.

Predictive value of red blood cell distribution width and hematocrit for short-term outcomes and prognosis in colorectal cancer patients undergoing radical surgery

With the increasing demand for beauty and health,clear aligners(CAs)have been widely applied among patients with ***,patients treated with CAs also face some potential complications,such as demineralization,dental caries,and periodontal *** addition,some patients have additional needs to improve their quality of life,such as bleaching *** order to prevent or solve these problems,the modification of CAs is a promising method because their extensive long-term contact with tooth surfaces makes them ideal devices for implementing adjuvant medical *** this review,we discuss various advanced CAs with medical functions based on the clinical needs of *** far as we know,the additional functions of CAs mainly include antibacterial,remineralization,whitening,and accelerating tooth *** functions are achieved by two major pathways,the combination of CAs with drugs/biomaterials and increasing the capacity or affinity of *** addition,we discuss the current limitations of in vitro experiments which are designed to explore the effectiveness and properties of novel CAs,and the challenges of bringing a multifunctional appliance from proposal to clinical *** the end of this review,we provide insights into the broader prospects for the improvement of CAs.

Diabetes mellitus in patients with type 1 autoimmune pancreatitis at diagnosis and after corticosteroid therapy

Background:A high prevalence of diabetes mellitus(DM)coexisting with autoimmune pancreatitis(AIP)is ***,evidence on the circumstances under which corticosteroid therapy(CST)for AIP improves or worsens DM is *** study aimed to demonstrate and identify predictors of DM control under the influence of ***:Patients diagnosed with type 1 AIP were enrolled from a prospectively maintained cohort and were classified into three groups according to the chronology in which AIP and DM were diagnosed:pre-existing DM(pDM),concurrent DM(cDM),and non-DM(nDM).The responses of DM to CST were assessed when corticosteroid was ceased or tapered to a maintenance dose and classified as‘improvement’and‘non-improvement’(including‘no change’and‘exacerbation’).Results:Among 101 patients with type 1 AIP,52(51.5%)patients were complicated with DM at the time of AIP diagnosis,with 36 patients in the cDM group and 16 patients in the pDM *** incidences of diffuse pancreatic swelling(72.2%)and pancreatic body/tail involvement(91.7%)were significantly higher in the cDM group than in both the pDM and nDM *** the 52 patients with DM,CST was administered in 48 *** logistic analysis identified that elevated serum gamma-glutamyl transferase(GGT)level at AIP diagnosis[odds ratio(OR)=0.032,95%confidence interval(CI):0.003-0.412,P=0.008]and pancreatic atrophy after CST(OR=0.027,95%CI:0.003-0.295,P=0.003)were negatively associated with DM control ***:Patients with diffuse pancreatic swelling and pancreatic body/tail involvement in pancreatitis tended to be complicated with cDM at AIP *** exerted a beneficial effect on the clinical course of DM in nearly half of the AIP patients complicated with DM at diagnosis,particularly in those without elevated serum GGT levels at diagnosis and who did not experience pancreatic atrophy after CST.

Triceps skinfold thickness trajectories and the risk of all-cause mortality:A prospective cohort study

BACKGROUND The measurement of triceps skinfold(TSF)thickness serves as a noninvasive metric for evaluating subcutaneous fat *** its clinical utility,the TSF thickness trajectories and their correlation with overall mortality have not been thoroughly *** To explore TSF thickness trajectories of Chinese adults and to examine their associations with all-cause *** This study encompassed a cohort of 14747 adults sourced from the China Health and Nutrition *** class trajectory modeling was employed to identify distinct trajectories of TSF *** were classified into subgroups reflective of their respective TSF thickness *** utilized multivariate Cox regression analyses and mediation examinations to explore the link between TSF thickness trajectory and overall mortality,including contributory *** Upon adjustment for multiple confounding factors,we discerned that males in the‘Class 2:Thin-stable’and‘Class 3:Thin-moderate’TSF thickness trajectories exhibited a markedly reduced risk of mortality from all causes in comparison to the‘Class 1:Extremely thin’*** the mediation analyses,the Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index was found to be a partial intermediary in the relationship between TSF thickness trajectories and *** females,a lower TSF thickness pattern was significantly predictive of elevated all-cause mortality risk exclusively within the non-elderly *** In males and non-elderly females,lower TSF thickness trajectories are significantly predictive of heightened mortality risk,independent of single-point TSF thickness,body mass index,and waist circumference.

BACKGROUND Cognitive dysfunction is the main manifestation of central *** cognitive impairments tend to be overlooked in patients with diabetes mellitus(DM),there is a growing body of evidence linking DM to cognitive *** is closely related to neurological abnormalities,while often disregarded in clinical *** in cerebral neurotransmitter levels are associated with a variety of neurological abnormalities and may be closely related to blood glucose control in patients with type 2 DM(T2DM).AIM To evaluate the concentrations of cerebral neurotransmitters in T2DM patients exhibiting different hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c)*** A total of 130 T2DM patients were enrolled at the Department of Endocrinology of Shanghai East *** participants were divided into four groups according to their HbA1c levels using the interquartile method,namely Q1(linical data were collected and measured,including age,height,weight,neck/waist/hip circumferences,blood pressure,comorbidities,duration of DM,and biochemical ***,neurotransmitters in the left hippocampus and left brainstem area were detected by proton magnetic resonance *** The HbA1c level was significantly associated with urinary microalbumin(mALB),triglyceride,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR),and beta cell function(HOMA-β),N-acetylaspartate/creatine(NAA/Cr),and NAA/choline(NAA/Cho).Spearman correlation analysis showed that mALB,LDL-C,HOMA-IR and NAA/Cr in the left brainstem area were positively correlated with the level of HbA1c(P<0.05),whereas HOMA-βwas negatively correlated with the HbA1c level(P<0.05).Ordered multiple logistic regression analysis showed that NAA/Cho[Odds ratio(OR):1.608,95%confidence interval(95%CI):1.004-2.578,P<0.05],LDL-C(OR:1.627,95%CI:1.119-2.370,P<0.05),and HOMA-IR(OR:1.107,95%CI:1.031-
