In fusion reactor or spallation neutron source environment,damage of tungsten components begins at the *** enhance the surface toughness,strength,and hardness of tungsten,a nano-to-micro sc ale lamellar gradient surface layer(thickness up to~50μm)was produced on as-rolled pure tungsten using a dry-sliding surface *** dry-sliding temperature and time were established by observing the grain-size evolution from room temperature to 750℃and the coefficient of friction on the surface layer after sliding from 10 to 50 *** grains changed into a slender fibrous structure at 250℃,which is higher than the ductile-brittle transition temperature but lower than the dynamic recrystallization temperature(750℃).The coefficient of friction of the surface layer decreased with sliding time and stabilized at approximately 50 min,indicating near-s aturation of the surface *** repetitive thermal loads of 10,20,and 30 MW·m^(-2)on the gradient modified layer,it exhibited mainly recrystallization and grain *** proportion of low-angle grain boundaries(<10°)reached50.6,42.2,and 17.3%,respectively,and the hardness decreased to 602,582,and 488HV.A heat load of 30 MW·m^(-2)was the threshold for the fast grain *** with unmodified tungsten,the recrystallization and grain growth are relatively ***,the gradient layer could suppress the formation of pits and protrusions in the as-rolled tungsten sample.

We report the world-leading performance of a 1.3 GHz cryomodule equipped with eight 9-cell superconducting radio-frequency cavities that underwent a medium-temperature furnace baking *** continuous wave horizontal testing,these cavities achieved unprecedented average intrinsic quality factors of 4.0×10^(10)at 20 MV/m and 3.2×10^(10)at 29 MV/m,with no instances of field *** cryomodule demonstrates near-complete preservation of ultra-high quality factors and ultra-high accelerating gradients from vertical to horizontal testing,marking a significant milestone in continuous-wave superconducting radio-frequency accelerator *** letter presents the cryomodule development experience,includ-ing cavity preparation,cryomodule assembly,degaussing,fast cooldown,and performance testing.

Poly（3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate）（PHBV）/chitin nanocrystals（CNC） composite scaffolds were synthesized by the salt leaching and thermally induced phase separation（TIPS） *** scaffolds have porous structures with macro-pores（100-300 μm in diameters） and micro-pores（10μm）.The surface characteristics of the scaffolds were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS） and static water contact angle measurement,and the mechanical properties were investigated by a compression *** adipose-derived stem cells（hADSCs） were seeded onto the PHBV/CNC scaffolds and in vitro cell culture results showed that the composite scaffolds enhanced the hADSCs adhesion,which implies that the material may have potential application in tissue engineering.

To the Editor: Ureteral calculus is a common urological disease. In recent years, one of the main treatment methods is ureteroscopy with holmium laser lithotripsy. However, with the extensive application of holmium laser lithotripsy, the increasing incidence of postoperative ureteral stricture or even occlusion has attracted the attention of clinicians to its etiology. The issue of the intraoperative holmium laser thermal effect has also gradually gained attention. The holmium laser is a long-wavelength pulsed laser, which crushes calculi by an optomechanical/photoacoustic mechanism as well as a photothermal mechanism, and it is mainly based on the photothermal mechanism.[1] Currently, multiple in vitro studies worldwide have confirmed that the holmium laser did increase the water temperature in the working area. However, these studies only simulated the lithotripsy process of the holmium laser in vitro, which did not completely reflect the thermal effect of the holmium laser during an actual operation. Accordingly, this study monitored the temperature changes of the lavage fluid in the operative field during the actual holmium laser lithotripsy process under an ureteroscope, with the aim of providing more information for the etiology study of ureteral stricture after ureteroscopy with holmium laser lithotripsy.

Sedimentation sludge water(SSW),a prominent constituent of wastewater from drinking water treatment plants,has received limited attention in terms of its treatment and utilization likely due to the perceived difficulties associated with managing SSW *** study comprehensively evaluated the water quality of SSW by comparing it to a well-documented wastewater(filter backwash water(FBW)).Furthermore,it investigated the pollutant variations in the SSW during pre-sedimentation process,probed the underlying reaction mechanism,and explored the feasibility of employing a pilot-scale coagulation-sedimentation process for SSW *** levels of most water quality parameters were generally comparable between SSW and *** the pre-sedimentation of SSW,significant removal of turbidity,bacterial counts,and dissolved organic matter(DOM)was *** characterization of DOM components,molecular weight distributions,and optical properties revealed that the macromolecular proteinaceous biopolymers and humic acids were preferentially *** characterization of particulates indicated that high surface energy,zeta potential,and bridging/adsorption/sedimentation/coagulation capacities in aluminum residuals of SSW,underscoring its potential as a coagulant and promoting the generation and sedimentation of inorganic-organic *** coagulation-sedimentation process could effectively remove pollutants from low-turbidity SSW([turbidity]0<15 NTU).These findings provide valuable insights into the water quality dynamics of SSW during the pre-sedimentation process,facilitating the development of SSW quality management and enhancing its reuse rate.

To identify the root causes of heavy metal contamination in soils as well as prevent and control such contamination from its sources,this study explored the accumulation patterns and ecological risks of heavy metals like Cd and Pb in solid waste in mining areas and across the water body,sediment,soil and agricultural product ecosystem surrounding the mining *** on the residual solid waste samples in lead-zinc deposits in a certain area of Guizhou Province,along with samples of topsoils,irrigation water,river sediments,and crops from surrounding *** study analyzed the distributions of eight heavy metals,i.e.,Cd,As,Cr,Hg,Pb,Zn,Cu,and Ni,in the samples through field surveys and sample ***,this study assessed the contamination levels and ecological risks of heavy metals in soils,sediments,and agricultural products using methods such as the single-factor index,Nemerow composite index,and potential ecological risk *** results indicate that heavy metals in the solid waste samples all exhibited concentrations exceeding their risk screening values,with 60%greater than their risk intervention *** soils and sediments demonstrate slight and moderate comprehensive ecological risks of heavy *** single-factor potential ecological risks of heavy metals in both the soil and sediment samples decreased in the order of Hg,Cd,Pb,As,Cu,Zn,Cr,and Ni,suggesting the same sources of heavy metals in the soils and *** of the agricultural product samples exhibited over-limit concentrations of heavy metals dominated by Cd,Pb,Ni,and Cr,excluding Hg and *** agricultural product assessment using the Nemerow composite index reveals that 35%of the agricultural product samples reached the heavy metal contamination level,implying that the agricultural products from farmland around the solid waste dumps have been contaminated with heavy *** eight heavy metals in the soil,sediment,and agricultural product samples manifested hig
